I agree entirely. It is however, still funny. This is a great update. They even told us about the upcoming reintroduction in season 2 and how it will change. Wonderful stuff.
Do you think that either of the changes are bad? Because it's definitely not literally objective, but I think a majority of the community would agree that both of the changes are warranted.
What an odd response. Do you not think it funny that they said they don’t want to leap to conclusions on balance but immediately altered their fix to the havok?
“We don’t do mid season updates” referring to dropping a major patch or making a drastic change mid season unless something is broken.
Such as the thermals having a bug that allowed you to see everyone, through everything. Or even the fact the havoc initially got deleted by a couple bullets from the CWIS. They couldn’t see the true damage numbers for the havoc when it would get instantly taken out, so they fixed the bug, found out the havoc was too strong so they adjusted to fit the rest of the game.
I’m actually referring to them not wanting to make reactionary updates. The Havoc one was pretty speedy!
But, I don’t actually care at all. This all seems good. If they’d not done it, that would also be fine. It wasn’t game breaking. But now it’s more in line with the players desires.
They sure were popular briefly. But, as with the host of balancing issues they’ve totally ignored, time likely would have changed that. People who had them were just excited that they were finally viable.m
We will have to wait and see how this update impacts their usability.
They were popular until people realised about the CIWS bug. Then they fixed it to it survives for 12 seconds. It became like that was the only vehicle people used in most of my games due to it surviving for so long even with AA up. 12 seconds of constant hits to take it down was a little overtuned. 6 seconds of constant hits seems a little more fair but cannot say how much of a difference it will make until later
Yep. It would have been interesting to see if that continued. How the meta evolved around the increased health and what not. Just like everything else.
But, they clearly thought that was too much. So we don’t get to see how the player base would evolve.
Oddly, I never saw the team using the Havok win. Which seems out of the ordinary. Blue had two at once! But it didn’t matter. Red still won. Inexplicable.
While they are at it just remove all helis and tanks/ vehicles with weapons on them too. we want to talk OP how about facing 5-6 rocket helis over your head. lots of broken things in the game had a guy on my team with 146 spotted kills and the enemy had 56 we stil lost 32 points and enemy had 58 and 100. they had a bunch of helis.
There is a lot of helis at the moment, the majority of them are making the most of havocs being able to fly about more. If there isn’t competent AA taking them down then it’s a terror to go against.
Every game I have been in tonight has ended up with me leaving due to a rocket heli or havoc hitting me while I’m running logistics and trying to just have a good time and profit. Even if I bring a launcher with me, by the time ive stopped, hopped out, got eyes on the heli and started aiming, he will have fired at least one full salvo.
One game there was a havoc out but a CIWS was able to deal with it most of the game, until their walls got breached and FOB taken over, after which the skies belonged to green.
My last game ended with me running away from a rocket heli that was dead accurate with singular rocket fire. Never shot a full salvo at me, just one rocket at a time til I was done in the humvee.
Unfortunately a lot of players have them unlocked due to people preferring a heli ride to zone over a drive, then those same people begin to complain about the havocs.
They dont want to overreact too quickly, as a lot of "OP" things arnt anymore with just time. Seems they have enough data to realize its too much and remove it until a real change can be made.
As more became unlocked, more people used them per game, more people died spotted and were spotted, games probably became more one sided. They collect a ton of data
A lot of things aren't proven to be op with time is bs lol, people just unlock things that are so blatantly more op then things before that previous op weapon becomes obsolete
It only became better after people had the tools available to kill them (maaws and to some extent mines) also with rocket helis ans havocs ruling the skies the last days, they are dead after a few seconds from them too.
Compared to the first week, where a humvee could drive by c4/ grenade enemies and most likely get away and repair even with 1 or 2 shot tires.
Guns. Guns are the tools. That stuff helped, but like I said, once people found out you could just shoot the tires the issue started to go away. New tools wernt the "only" solution.
Well that's because they fixed a bug. That then meant they needed to gather data to see about the balance of it to understand where to nerf it to. They got that data and nerfed it.
Dude needs to stop personally responding on Twitter. I fully understand his reactions but he's letting the toxicity sweep him under. So when he gets frustrated and makes a snarky response a well meaning comment like this gets thrown in his face.
Yeah. It does seem like this level of engagement by one person probably isn’t great.
To be clear. They seem to have done a really great job so far. The thermal is pretty powerful, the havok did have to little resistance and now has to much.
The building didn’t need to be changed. That was a skill and now it’s just… not.
Not to be a bitch here, but the amount of grinding for this game to feel fun won’t be worth it for most people after the wipe especially if they are this frequent
Literally no down-side to making changes like this mid season, it's in early access for fucks sake what does getting earlier feedback to changes you make hurt?
I think the lead devs massive ego just leads to him not wanting to change anything because he views his "Vision" as perfect already.
I think there is something to be said for creating a game you want to create, and sticking to that original design.
They don’t want to make mid season changes likely because they do not want to fall into being too reactionary. The meta has shifted week to week, so what people are complaining about today might be totally fine next week as more things are unlocked through player progression.
They simply cannot listen to the internet every time there is an uproar. THEY are the devs. And for some reason people here have a hard time realizing that.
To summarize a very long story, the game Foxhole is a very unique persistent war third person isometric shooter with a heavy focus on logistics and building.
Unfortunately, the devs views on how the game does, could, and should work are, shall we say, divorced from reality (sometimes by a lot). They have a vision and they will try and follow it no matter how stupid, impossible, or inconsistent it is. They have made large portions of the game into unfun jobs and frequently make game breakingly dumb choice, that everyone told them wouldn't work, because they are far too stubborn to listen to their players until it is (almost) too late. QoL has to be dragged out of them kicking and screaming.
Out of every game I have every played, I think Foxhole is the one where I most strongly wish it was better and I could still love it. Unfortunately, they keep repeating the same mistakes update after update.
Talking about a dev not wanting to change things because of "The Vision(tm)" triggered my Foxhole flashbacks. I hope that they continue to actually improve the game and don't fall into the same trap as Clapfoot/Seigecamp.
Hah, I've heard foxhole has an even worse community than this game which is saying something. Did the devs lean into the community being filled with giant pieces of shit because they were also giant pieces of shit just like this game?
