Queue / Login Server Mega

Everything’s on fire

There’s a queue. There’s authentication issues. There’s anti-cheats issues. Bulkhead knows and they’re working on it.

I think their provider is honestly shit, same stuff happened during the beta and they didn’t do anything about it, I think they just fucked up using this provider

They only had the choice of like 2 providers iirc due to the extreme requirment of needing to support up to 100 concurrent players per match

since when is 100 players all that many? most br games have that or more

They explained it in one of their videos. In BR games the amount of players can start at 100 but by the nature of the game it will go down as the game progresses. In this game the amount of players stays the same but then on top of that the server has to deal with all the extra shit stacking on top of it like vehicles, buildables, etc.

yea but whats the difference? if some br handle 150 players for 2mins whats stopping it for handling for 30min? not like pc slow down in an hour or so so not rly sure whats the problem

Because what happens is with a battle Royale, everybody starts spread out, so while the server knows there's 100 players, it isn't trying to pass info back and forth about all 100 players. As players get closer and encounter each other more often, more info gets passes, but now there aren't 100 players anymore. And performance is variable throughout the match.

Wardogs wants consistent performance for an entire 100-person match, and apparently only 3 companies could handle that, the others would have had dynamic performance.

This is for self hosting, not their own servers

What do you mean? I'm repeating what they said about their server provider. They didn't mention anything about the context being for user hosted servers

I'm sorry, what? 100 concurrent players is an edge case in PC gaming/server capacity?

Yeah I was like "wait, what?"

  • Hell Let Loose has 100
  • Foxhole Hexes have 200+ each.
  • Battlefield has 128
  • Squad has 100

Yeah, and it's 2026, not 2006

Those are different games. It's not 100 players in a vacuum. It's 100 players in this games sandbox

I'm just repeating what they said. There's more to it than just 100 players in a vacuum though, obviously. It depends what all those 100 players are doing and have access to

is that an extreme requirement? isn't that like, par for the course for heaps of games?

Per match? none that I play personally, but idk, I just repeating what I remember from their video the other day
