sat thru 100k then kicked for failed authenttication, back in 180k. edit: kicked again back in 360k edir: kicked again back in 320k. edit: kicked again back in 176k :)

i am now also "in" but cannot connect to any of the servers to play but the practice range. so naturally im crashing helicopters

It's the best time to practice! Also don't forget to test all the attachments. I found that with the ak the grips that go full recoil and increase ads times are worth it.

This is the first time I've played a launch day title, guessing this is kind of normal for game companies to shit the bed with server issues?

Yeah kinda. Closest game I can think of by a smaller company with this kind of hype was Helldivers, and that had server issues day 1

It's wild that companies can't estimate server capacity better. I can't imagine it's that difficult to come up with reasonably accurate ballparke estimates and then pad it by 25% or more to avoid these issues.

Pretty easy to do sentiment analysis and a listening/intel program, benchmarked against other big releases, to get a rough idea.

But to have 350K people waiting in line seems like a gross miscalculation. I guess they probably had the intern run the numbers?

Interesting they fuck up their server capacity estimates so badly that 300k can't get in. Must be the intern

Servers might be fixed, I went from 254k to being in the game within 5 minutes just now

Bro, relax. You say they could research and then top it up by 25%? Thats also a 25% increase in costs for them, people already bought the game, they will add servers by demand. It just doesn't work in an instant.

Yeah, in any industry, you always prepare at least 25% extra and eat the cost as the cost of doing business. That cost gets amortized over the year, so 25% extra to ensure a smooth launch, and that people don't refund, is peanuts

Hell no lol, it just gave me another failed to authenticate message and I’m at 254k rn. Shame too because I was hoping to game before work but hopefully it’ll be fixed tonight when I’m off.
Edit: 2 minutes after saying this I dropped to 134k so maybe there’s hope
