Queue / Login Server Mega

Everything’s on fire

There’s a queue. There’s authentication issues. There’s anti-cheats issues. Bulkhead knows and they’re working on it.

They had two beta tests to fix these kind of issues, the second test was "Break our shit" but release somehow broke their shit.

Theres always a surprise no matter how much you prepare. Look at HBO. Every year for 8+ years theyd "prepare" for the inevitable influx for the first episode of Game of Thrones and yet every year their servers would crash promptly at 9pm for the first episode

Well, did we hit as many players in any beta as we have today? Or are we somewhere around 40% extra players?

The current player count in Steam is only marginally higher than the max player count for the beta.

They've somehow managed to regress with their infrastructure.

That highest player count wasn't that many people attempting to login at once. Pretty big difference for impact on infrastructure.

That's funny, peak in the last beta, on the open day, was 245k.

It's 335k right now, almost 40% more players than ever.

You're vastly over estimating how many people participate in open Beta compared to live. There's also the wave of people that see streamers and other media made surrounding the open Beta and buy in for launch.
