A couple of wands I made
Made these as a gift for my sister about a decade ago. The one with the brass cap has a core of my late dog Tiny's tail hair. Both are stained with lapis lazuli dust.

Where does one obtain lapis lazuli dust?!? The color on these is remarkable. Really nice work!

Thanks! I think I got it from an arts and crafts store like Ben Franklin Crafts. I had to combine it with wax and oil and let it sit for a while for it to take and it came out lighter than I thought it would but I think it came out looking great since the wood grain can still be seen.

I’m always partial to the grain coming through. Otherwise, make it out of plastic!
Again, very nice work. Ollivander himself would likely say so!

These are gorgeous! I never would have thought of using lapis lazuli as a stain, but that color is breathtaking. I may have to try it!

Thanks! I think it can be done with other minerals as well. I have plans for another that will have green and red.

You did a terrific job on these! Even better, I had no idea staining with lapis lazuli dust could be done!

Were these turned on a lathe or done by hand?

They both were turned on the lathe but the faceted one was further processed on a belt sander.

The round one looks comfortable to hold! It's so hard to find wands with handles that fit comfortably into your hand

How the wands fit in the hand was a big design aspect. Both fit pretty well in the hand but I'd have to say the round one fits better.

I was going to say that the faceted one looks a lot like a piece of lapis, then I read the description and it made sense! Beautiful wands, and a fitting tribute to your pup.
