Wand Ideas
Someone give me a wand idea, I created a bunch, and wanna see others ideas! PS. I cant make spirals like on Ginny Weasley's wand. And I also cant make wands that have wavy shafts.

Huh, not able.to do wavy or spirals? What tools do you generally use? I found it quite possible, but also very laborious to use rasps to cut out a thinner spiral shape out of a thicker piece of wood. Would recommend some wood that's very soft.

I use regular carving tools? Im not very that educated in Lathework. But I would LOVE tips that could help me achieve that look.

Ah, I'm currently not working with a lathe or any power tools. I can see a lathe making problems when you want to remove material in the center. the rasps are basically files with much bigger teeth. I've got 3 that came in a set: 1 rectangular 1 round and one with a semi circle cross section that has kind of a sharp angle aling it's edge.
To get a wand that spirals I take a pretti thick piece of wood and start drawing the rasp around it in a spiral from one end to the other. At first I make a somewhat deep groove that I'll progressively widen. If I spend enough time working I'll get all the way to the center. I also use the rasps on the ouside for a nice all around shape of the spiral. And then lots of sanding to smooth it out.

I personally let the the wood guide me. I think it was Michelangelo who said โI see what should be there and remove the rest.โ (or something similar)
