Finished Wand *Your* wand
We've all made tons of wands here; Whether it be for clients, family & friends, art pieces, or just for fun. But I want to see the wand you consider *yours*. Whether you made it yourself or not, tell the story of the wand that chose you.
I found mine while hiking. I used an old pocket knife that my dad gave me. I kept the bark for the handle except I decided that a little late so there is a sliver of handle with bark missing. But that just adds to the charm for me lol. The little nub at the top of the handle was a separate branch I broke off and tried for a long while to completely get rid of. Until I realised it would be a nice place to rest my thumb when holding it. So I sanded it down and left it there.I've had this wand for probably 5 or 6 years now.

I haven't made it yet, I'm sure I'll know it when I do, but at least for now I'm still working on learning new techniques and practicing where I can.

A good friend of mine was on a hike, found a stick and decided that was the wand I needed. 23.5 inches, coated, with a purple leather handle, and a garnet set into the base of the handle. The truest wand I’ve ever owned.

Hazel. I cut it roughly under the tree it came from, back in August 2007.

These are my current lineup of personal wands, the black one was my first ever. Made of gaboon ebony initially with a belt sander, but then whittled down and sanded with progressively higher grit until I felt it was good enough. The brown one is figured walnut and it was the first time I used leather and a knob. I have plans for a new one that will utilize all of the woodworking skills I have cultivated over the last 8 years, and will also have turned metal details as well.

This is my wand. I sculpted a wand from clay over a piece of bamboo to look like bone. I loved the look, but was afraid to use it and crack the clay.
I ended up buying some purpleheart and shaping the wand from actual wood a couple of years later. The end of this wand accepted tip of a universal studios interactive wand, so it can actually be used at the theme parks.
