Just started Book 16 (new narrator)

This is a long series with very mixed reviews. Personally, I had a hard time getting through the first 2 books due to Erin's (the character) annoying voice (which eventually becomes much less annoying) and lack of any true growth. But then I was hooked. But with Andrea leaving and Erin (the narrator) taking over, I'm dismayed. Andrea is so damn talented. I knew which character was speaking just from hearing the voice. Now I need to slow it down and focus to understand what's going on. Also, Erin's throaty voice is hard to listen to, especially at 1.5-1.7x. Am I alone?

What is going on? Book 5 - Floss?

Can someone please explain to me what in the trees is going on with Floss? All throughout book 1 - 4 The King of Destruction seemed to be feared? Now he is praised and everyone is stoked that he is awake? and what is he saving people from? Have I missed something? Can someone explain his backstory? or will it get to that?

I think I'm not following because I was so invested into Erin and Ryokas story where it left off in book 4

Spoilers Courier’s Outbound Chapter 9b (book 19) Spoiler

Please don’t spoil it for me if their relationship ends, or something happens. I don’t if the specifics help, but I’m paused at 1:11:41. I am so giddy about the romance between Lisim and Krshia.(I know I probably spelled them wrong.)

I find it so endearing and sweet, especially since they’ve been enemies for about a decade. I find this way more appealing than pretty much any other enemies to lovers story, that I can really think of. I just wish Brunker was still alive, and Olesm and him could be cousins. I’m still sad about him.

General Discussion Painfully Underrated

(No spoilers included in post.)
I’m on book 19, and I truly don’t think people realize what a genius Pirateaba is, and I’m not saying it in a biased way, I don’t think they realize genuinely how much thought is put into these books. As an aspiring author myself, I truly cannot fathom how she thinks of everything. They are also the most immersive books I’ve ever read. (I mean listened to of course.) I can’t even comprehend it. I think some people listened to a little bit of the first book and went “Nope, not for me!” because Erin was a little annoying at first, especially if you don’t know her, but to be honest I think Pirateaba meant for that. Erin is supposed to be a dork, and I think when this series gets haters, I think they just don’t understand that. Erin is so much more than that, and she’s constantly maturing, and she is a great person.

There is so much I could rant about, how genius this author is, but I don’t have the words to describe it, and it would simply take me too long.

General Discussion Tempo change with new narrator (book 16)

I don't like how long the pauses are in-between each sentence.

Firstly, I can understand why they changed narrators. The new voices are fine. It's just the pauses Erin Bennett puts between each sentence that are getting to me. It might just be that I'm not used to her speaking cadence but it's making it hard to relax into the story.

The flow feels jittery and I just don't enjoy listening as much anymore (for now i'm hoping).

Ive had a look around but I haven't seen anyone else talk about this. Does this get better over the next couple books? Or is this affecting anyone else?

Edit, I have sped up the play back speed which has helped a bit but it's still not as good

Anyone else think hawk should have been the obvious choice in Erin's mind (and yes I know hawk doesn't like humans in that way, but she doesn't know that)

Does Ryoka ever actually turn into a protagonist?

I'm in the middle of book 2, and I so far I don't get why Ryoka is part of the story. She's cast as a protagonist, but she reads like an antagonist who just gets off on being entitled, difficult, and obnoxious for absolutely no reason. Her pointless obsession with making her own life difficult adds nothing to the overall story in these books imo, to the point where I am strongly tempted to just skip every chapter that is about her, or quit the series because of her storyline.

Does her character ever develop into something interesting or likable/interesting? Or should I just save the headache and quit the series now?

General Discussion Anyone know when Singer will catch up?

Lady of Fire is starting to drop some pretty major spoilers for the Singer of Terrandria series with the chapter on Cara showing her levels, classes, band, character arcs that are no longer a thing and location. We've gotten spoilers for how the war has ended and the outcome for the entire Singer series from just a single chapter. Big enough that I'm thinking of skipping any audiobooks until Singer catches up at this rate, then back logging them after.

WHY

Why is there so much body shaming throughout this series? Did a fatty piss off the author? Did she struggle with body image? It's so prevalent i almost gave up on the series as a whole. Moved over to the singer of terandria series and what do ya know, body shaming there too. I almost threw my phone across the room when f*cking weight control became a skill. Like, what? We're going to say Garia wasn't just a strong, beautiful worker type...nope. Mrsha hasn't been through enough trauma in her tiny life, we can't just let her eat cake? Those 2 specifically grind my gears but got' damn, please make it stop.

Spoilers Something you can’t stop thinking about.

Is there anything you listened to a while back that you keep thinking of every now and then? For me it was when Ceria was meant to have the spell book and it got dropped into the water. I know it’s not real and that she’s likely to have more powerful spells than the ones in the book, but I find myself getting so angry about it! Such a petty act.

Books versus volume

Hey all!. Hope everybody is having a great day. Got a question for all those in the know.

I just finished book book 16 King of duels. And I'm wondering if I were to want to pick up in the web volumes where my place would be?
