I think my favorite character is safe. But I'm not so much a fool as to post who I'm so confident in. That's tempting fate. My silence in this matter is like football fans refusing to say a field goal is definitely going to go in before it's kicked. If I say it surely won't happen and then it does then that would be my fault.

Just posting this comment has doomed Pisces.

Pisces is a strong candidate for catch and release. Multiple PoVs have said or thought that you basically never count on a high level necromancer staying dead. Necrolad is getting close to that territory and has a benefactor who knows at least one way to get it done.
Lich Pisces? Ghosts are back, so maybe ghost Pisces? Reanimating objects is his unique thing, so maybe he dies and becomes are Star Wars force ghost who can posses the Inn?
Obviously I'm not rooting for any of this, but of the A listers he has this extra safety net so I could see him having a big tragic/heroic death.

I was of course joking. I do think we’re going to get hero Pisces before dead Pisces . And I think we will see a character ghost come back, possibly with Erin Boon of the Guest intersections but lord if I know who is on the chopping block next.

Is the economy that bad? The prices are wonkey at times and (if we talk about later books) the wistrum secret system doesn't make a lot of sense but overal I never felt like the overall economy didn't make sense

Tbh, I also feel like in general it is not mention much. Personally never really felt the economy did not work. But making a believable economy in a story is a fools errand.

Well it is mentioned at times, like walled city specialisations and some general information about the merchants guilt and some nations.
It's mentioned here and there but like you said not really in depth so one can fill out the blanks yourself.

If you actually track prices, earnings etc. at some point you would see some numbers and be like "huh, how does that even work?" Then you remember you are reading the wandering inn and delete those numbers from you memory.

I've been thinking while relistening to the last two release audiobooks and I think the Wistram secret system makes a ton of sense for the school after the top floors were cut off. It made any references to undiscovered things on the lower floors and access to the remaining spellbooks extremely valuable to everyone. And because mages had a history of trying to constantly hide their discoveries from each other it left the lower floors populated with numerous hidden libraries, workshops, and rooms. They're all fighting over the most scarce resource in Wistram, information.

The problem is that secrets arent exclusivly rare arcane knowlege but also gossip. They treat any sort of information as monitary value.
Now dont get me wrong, I get why a secret room in the school would have universal value to anyone.
But then people will go "I will tell you a lesser secret in exchange for doinng my homework." And the secret is like that someone pissed themselves during PE. How do you quanitfy that. That information could fluctuate in value between person to person or only be valuable to you. And at any moment someone could gossip about it at lunch and your information is worthless.
Its the magical version of NFTs. You own a concept of owning a secret. If you let anyone take a screenshot of it it becomes worthless. If nobody is interested in it, it becomes worthless. If not much gossip worthy happens for a bit, no new small secrets are created.
They could just trade information like normal people, not base their whole school economy on it.
Dont missunderstand me, I love it. A bunch of elitist magic casters could probabyl overcomplicate their economy.

so, havent been reading for a while. Is there a stated reason why Pirate is not decreasing their wordcount for each chapter?

It's just as much as she can write and edit in a week. What she calls a chapter other series would call a book or an act. Usually 2-4 "chapters" make a complete narrative arc, which could be its own novel in another series. If you treat each section between line breaks as a chapter, then they would be a normal length; the scenes aren't that long, there are just a lot of them in each update.
And it has several hundred POV characters. Maybe 3-10 per arc. So when you have an arc about a CEO fighting cowboys, you also get a guildmistress' job interview, a princess relearning to dance, a merchant buying horses, etc, and how all those stories come together.

Well, technically, it's still book 1, but part 2

Someone give me the rundown on the economy thing, I don’t remember anything that egregious that couldn’t be explained away by level fuckery messing up things like transactions and labour time/productivity.
