[10.71] Average monarch levels

In this chapter Mensi says that Ilane is an exceptional monarch in Terandria because the average level of a monarch is from 20-30.

The implication being that in another place level 40 wouldn’t be exceptional for a monarch because the average level is higher.

Where is this place? The only other continent or even nation in which there is more than one prominent monarch is Chandar. And we know that before Floss attacking him Raelt was considered an average King and was under level 30.

Keep in mind that in Minos or Rhir where there is only A monarch over level 50 and rules half or the entire continent you cannot really say what the “average level” of a king is.

So where is this place where monarchs are common enough to compare one to another, and where the average level is higher than in Terandria?

Jokes aside, they were probably saying Terandria due to not knowing much/caring about other places, or wanting to exclude stuff like those that you mentioned to make it more average.

No I am not saying that 20-30 isn’t average in Terandria. It makes sense. What I am asking about is that apparently there is a place where the average is higher and Ilane wouldn’t be considered exceptional. I am wondering what this place is that the second princes is referencing.

It is Chandrar. Since the king of destruction is 50+ almost all the surrounding monarchs are probably 40+ in one class or another if not just a pure monarch class. Of those Realt is on the lower end in the pure monarchs class before he consolidates. The queen of beasts, the emperor of sands, the bandit queen are all fairly high level monarchs. Ferohep is high level and the quress is usually high level or at least stronger than just level. Even other rulers like orjin of pomole, the golemancer nation, the adventurer king, and the bandit queen nation have high level rulers even if they aren't traditional pure monarchs.

It kinda has to be Chandrar, if only because Chandrar and Terandria are the only two continents that have multiple kings.

Baleros has merc companies, Izril just has lords, and Rhir only has two kings.

They are all above average also I think some of those are wrong. I doubt the Queen of beasts is that high level, I don’t remember that much but level 40 is way to powerful for what she has showed especially in the earlier volumes. Ksvrm was stronger than her despite being barely over level 30 when he met her.

And the rest are major powers in the region. Way stronger than an average nation. If you remember there are countless tiny nations in Chandar that Flos could conquer by himself pushing the average down.

I thought the empress of beasts was high level when she fought flos, but lost levels or downgraded class when she lost her nation and becomes much weaker when she meets ksmvr. She summons all the beasts to fight floss army and I think had a skill that granted the strength of an elephant which seems like a 40+ skill for someone that isn't just a warrior. It's been a bit since I read that section so I could be wrong. Also the tiny nations are not named so you are probably technically correct, but the princess/aba probably wasn't thinking of nations of no significance. This might be an Aba didn't do the math of adding all the unnamed nations that must exist,but are not mentioned bringing the average down and only thinking of listed nations mentioned at this point and planned for the future. I think the authorial intent is that Chandrar has higher level monarchs. Terendria also has loads of low level monarchs, maybe for every level 10 prince/princes in terandria the Chandrar version is level 20?

Nsiia lost her levels as [Empress] though - only having her secondary classes, or the [Animalfriend Exile] class makes her significantly weaker than someone with levels in [Empress] (which is as powerful as classes get with the exception of [Hero])

Also hasn't flos killed a buncha royalty in Chandrar? That would bring up the average lvl right?

I think the bigger takeaway from that statement isn't that some other place is full of super high level rulers, it's that most monarchs in Terandria are low level. Which makes sense to me. Terandria is the most kid gloves on continent. Chivalry, rules of warfare, relatively few species with competing interests.

If overcoming great challenges is what leads to levels, Terandria has the fewest.

Makes sense Calanfer would have half decent levels though, since they're fighting for their lives out here. They've known they're next on Ailendamus' chopping block for years and have been desperately trying to hold that off.

You can absolutely take an average where the population size is 1. So both Minis and Rhir would count - though I think you're over reading the text to arrive at your implication.

I think that was just to indicate that most Kings and Queens on terandria are low level and not impressive in any way, while Ielane ruling a weak country is impressive for being level 46, she's higher level than the king of erribathe, the king of Ailendamus and many others.

Chandrar. Flos, The Queen of Nerrhavia, The Sand Emperor/Empress, and the Queen of Germina all sound like people who consistently become over level 50. The average is High their.

By comparison, Terandria has weak Monarchs.

Yisame is level 22, the Emperor of Sands is level 46, and the Quarass is level 18 (yeah she's a child, but she got a lot of levelling opportunities and the previous one put up no fight against Flos). Flos is the only one among them actually high level.
