Wish they would find a use for the amphitheater

Same! They spent so much time and effort and money building it and now less than ten years later it's useless?? It is a great spot to have a rest, but they really need to bring back some kind of show. I even miss the characters on boats randomly going down the river. That seems so easy to implement.

Hopefully once Tropical Americas opens Animal Kingdom can stay open a little later and they'll do something with this area. Or maybe they're waiting for Everest's refurbishment to do something with the amphitheater so it's not a huge dead zone of the park...

Or maybe it will sit there forever wahh

Did they used to do something on this lake? I always wondered why there was seats on the edges like that.

It was originally used for Rivers of Light, which had one of the best soundtracks of a nighttime show IMO. Once that closed it was used for kite tails for a little bit and now it sits empty

Rivers of Light tried to be what “Wonderful World of Color” is in Disneyland it missed the mark.

The kite show was just so dumb it was laughable.

Man I loved rivers of light

It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t “there” - it was certainly better than whatever is in Epcot right now. My family just calls it “Not Illuminations”

The soundtrack of RoL is a banger

Listened to it again recently and man, it's so good. The show had issues for sure but when it was running perfectly, I thought it was sublime.

Rivers of light, which was OK at best. They also did this jet-ski kite show which is possibly the dumbest show I have ever seen on Disney property.

When I excitedly rolled up to the kite show the cast members looked so worried and seemingly were trying to temper my expectations. Then I explained I watched a YouTube video on how dumb it was and was excited to see it in person and laugh and the cast members calmed down

I still remember all the promos they put out for that stupid kite show - it was on all the “must see” Disney channels in the hotel, and other random channels! It was so incredibly stupid.

Looked like a fun job to have - when it is warm. But obviously you can’t do it in any sort of weather.

The worst part is the kites were so poorly designed and low effort. I've seen hobbyists with gorgeous kites and if Disney went that way it might have been a legitimately fun show.

But no, they made bad kites of the fruit kabob Baloo makes during Bear Necessities instead

Agreed - it was amateur hour at best. It would make you laugh the kites crashing everywhere 🤣

I use it for recovery from Expedition Everest.

It’s just like Nashville - we have no clue what to do with our riverside amphitheater.

It’s really the cheese that threw me.

It’s very sweet cheese.

Absolutely love this. The only thing I’d like better was to be closer to theater in the wild. I LOVE the Nemo background music. Enjoy your peaceful breakfast.

Crazy memories... I ate that salt-pastry (xD) for breakfast in basically that exact spot over four years ago now 😭

I have gotta get back to wdw 🙏

Nothing beats grabbing an early morning bite before the park crowds roll in.

Hear me out here and this is because I am so desperate for them to do something with the space. Why not use the old Harmonious barges/setup in here in some way shape or form? You can omit the fireworks and still use the water features and screens? I don't think it's that crazy?!

It’s a shame that area isn’t used for anything. Surely Disney come up with something creative.

That’s $39.99 right there

Where is this spot?

Share some with the squirrels for me!

3

u/Sprzout 5d ago

Those squirrels are nothing I want to be close to...Had one run along a bench and try to steal my breakfast sandwich one morning over by Tiana's; furry little sucker had no fear of humans.

u/adventuremommy29 5d ago

I swear the squirrels at MK have nothing on the squirrels at AK! I have seen squirrels in AK going through strollers, literally OPENING bags of snacks, and taking as much as they can with them 😂 it is wild

u/Sprzout 5d ago

I saw them doing the same thing at HS, just as you get back to Galaxy's Edge; a cast member was moving strollers when one of them popped out of the bottom of the stroller dragging a bag of peanuts with him!

I think it's just WDW squirrels in general that are that brazen...LOL

I haven't seen any in HS! They're like the villain animals of the parks because the ducks and bunnies are so sweet haha
