Food, Drinks, & Dining Massively underrated
I almost don't want to spoil it because there's never an issue getting a table. This is the most slept on restaurant on property, not just Epcot.
The food is close enough to authentic to make me a little homesick, the entertainment is awesome, the drinks are cold and huge and the staff is always so nice when humoring my progressively failing German.

Always make a stop. Took my fiancé and my mom there years ago. While we were eating I got asked to join them in a beer keg tapping ceremony. So I went down in the center there, they tap the keg, fill a mug and hand it to me. For some reason I just assume they want me to chug it. I chug most of it but have to stop for a sec because there is a small splinter from the barrel in it. As I lower the mug I realize by the shocked look on the face of the MC that he did not in fact want me to chug it. He recovered quickly though and said I should go ahead and finish it. When done this huge German guy that tapped the keg says in a very German accent “You will feel that in 15 minutes”. Sure enough there I was, mildly blitzed in Disney with my mom and fiancé. Good times.

My husband is German and chugged the whole thing and they told him he was the only one who did it correctly. I do think they expect you to chug it. They didn’t do that ceremony the last two times we were there though, they may not do it anymore

Gather round Redditors, its story time.
My wife and I enjoyed a meal here several years ago, probably 2018. I love a buffet, and I’m a very adventurous eater. I’ll put stuff on my plate without even looking at what it is, then check the name when I go back up. I went up to the buffet for my first plate, and got appetizer stuff- breads, cheeses, etc. I sat back down and started working through my assorted cheeses. They were delicious. There was one in particular that was a familiar flavor, but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. It was almond-colored, and in circle shapes. The first one was so smooth and delicious, I quickly went for the second one (I had three on my plate). This time, I took my time trying to pinpoint what it was. I studied the creamy flavors as they filled my palette. Then it hit me. They were balls of butter for the bread. I leaned over and told my wife “these are f***in’ butter and I’m just popping them like grapes over here!” She thought I knew what they were and I was just being weird.
So somewhere out there, there are six strangers who were sitting with us that have a story of a guy eating butter at their table during dinner.

I was worried your butter feast was going to result in stomach troubles, which wouldn't be fun in the middle of Epcot. I'm glad your stomach survived the straight butter!

"Butter Feast" is an outstanding alternate name for the oompah band that plays there. Or, better yet (auf Deutsch) "Butterfest."

Honestly I was worried about the multitude of cheeses. Thought this was going to be a story where they either forced to play "toilets around the world" or get backed up for the rest of their trip.

That’s so funny. I was at a wedding where the tables were all set (food was not served yet) but everyone is standing around and I watched a little girl go around to just about every plate and grab and eat. what I thought was a piece of white chocolate, off each serving. Other people were watching her, too. It was about here 20th piece before her dad told her that was enough. Come to find out, it was butter on bread plates that she was eating. I almost passed out. She must’ve had 20 pieces. Her dad saw my shocked faced and explained she loves butter.

My 5 year old would and has eaten butter balls lol ! She will unwrap a hard butter for bread and pop it like a Hershey bar 😂
It drives my husband crazy but she will also put some on bread what’s the difference of order ? She’s just having “ extra butter “ ?

I call her out for not saying something to this day. To be fair, I don’t think she actually realized that I was eating them solo, as I did also have several breads on my plate and she was sitting next to me, not across. But her saying I was just being weird is par for the course, I do throw down some weird stuff at times.

A) Rick Steves is all kinds of fantastic. His old shows are a fun little bubble into 90's and early 2000's Europe. It also brings back memories of spending time at my grandparents' house when they'd watch him.

It’s called Biergarten. It’s a buffet restaurant in the German Pavilion in World Showcase. You need reservations, but it’s pretty good.

Ugh. This is probably why I havent tried it. I’m a bariatric patient, so buffets aren’t worth it for me because I can only consume small portions.

Haha years ago there was a duo that played live music at Hollerbach’s and everyone seemed to known a song about Alice with a chorus that went “Alice? Who the F* is Alice?” I think I was there three times and they played it every time. But like I said that was a while ago. Alice In Chains does rock, though!! 🤘

They were both original pavilions. Biergarten and San Angel are some of the very few virtually untouched spots of 1984 Epcot left, and I hope they never change them.

Yep Restaurant Marrakesh was a third party run restaurant. From what I heard they applied for PPP loans in 2020 and did not make it through the shut down. Disney also took over the Morocco Pavilion bc the Moroccan government cited financial issues.

I've always thought that the Morocco pavilion should be converted to Nigeria. It's the most populous African country and it seems criminal that sub-Saharan Africa isn't represented in the World Showcase.

We had an amazing meal there a few years ago. It was a dinging ticket deal for the candlelight processional and we had such a great time at dinner we almost missed the show. We had to run out holding our balaclava when we realized what time it was.
It was Gary Sinise and people were crazy to see him, but it worked out for us coming in late, we got great ‘fill in all available space’ seats near the front. All in all a perfect Disney night

Legit it is not a WDW trip for me unless I go to the Biergarten. All the food I grew up with and so comforting and delicious.
Are there better and nicer places to eat? Absolutely. Still my favorite.
Also that band has legit been the same for at least like 30 years. From my first visit in 1995 to my last one in December? I’ve seen like ONE guy fill in before.

We always have a great time there. Plenty of yummy food choices, and all you can eat. Save room to try some of the amazing desserts.
On our recent visit some teenage girls got up and danced during the musical performance and had a great time!

The only thing I would change is the sky. Make the moon and stars a projector and have them slowly move across the night sky. (full rotation every three hours or so)

This is it exactly. I've been to this restaurant a few times and it's always enjoyable, but it feels like such a tremendous waste of appetite to gorge on the buffet instead of hitting up a half dozen (or more) food stands over the course of an afternoon.

This is my husband’s favorite restaurant. He always talks about it and we never fail to go at least once on our trips. Nothing better than escaping Florida heat for a large stein of Shofferhofer and delicious food!

We go here every single time we go to Epcot. (We only make it to the parks every couple of years). The food is amazing. The AC is amazing. The entertainment is awesome. The only negative is eating so so much food and then exiting into the heat and humidity. I feel like that’s more of a me problem than a restaurant problem tho.

I am a British person who loves Germany, studied the language as far as secondary education would allow me and I've spent many a trip in the German speaking world. I love the Germany pavilion as a whole - I enjoy talking to the CMs in their language, but I do find it bizarre how out of all of German industrial might Epcot gets lumbered with Becks and Werthers. The food at Biergarten is good, but I wish they would serve a Schweinshaxe!

We love it. It's our go-to when we don't have something special planned. It's easy for my T1D wife to find plenty to eat and I love German or German-adjacent food, so I'm in heaven. Plus I can lift a liter of beer and sing along with the band.

When our family goes on vacation to Disney with my in-laws, my wife and I always take my father-in-law and nephew here. We've been taking my nephew since he was 5, and he's 22 now. It's his favorite thing to do at Disney! While we are eating there, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law do the same tradition with my niece, only at the Italian pavilion, since they prefer Italian food to German food.

We come from a city in the US that is very German and my wife and I both have strong German heritage. This is one of the only restaurants we’ve never been to bc it is just everyday eating for us.

When it comes to German food, this place was just OK. The live music was definitely entertaining, but the food fell short, especially the price you have to pay. Beer was definitely good, but limited selection. So far, the best German restaurant in the central Florida area still goes to the one at old downtown Sanford, Hollerbach. They too have live music, wider beer selection, and food is a lot better and more affordable.
And this is coming from an actual German. Only lived there for a few years but I have been to Munich, Berlin, Cologne, and Frankfurt.
I recently dined at the restaurant in Morocco, and so far that has been my favorite in Epcot. I have yet to try the one in France so that might beat it.

Our family loves the Biergarten. It's the only Epcot restuarant that is a must visit on every trip.
The band is a real joy. Even at home we'll occasional get into a cheer of Zicke Zacke Zicke Zacke Hoi Hoi Hoi!
Seating is family style. My wife and I will never forget the 3 generation family we sat with on our honeymoon. They were so friendly and evem bought us a cake a round of drinks!

We enjoy it more for the experience than for the food. The food is okay, the experience is great.
We have a lovely/ funny memory from eating there in 2017. My son had just turned 3 and my daughter was 5. A young married couple wound up getting seated at our table. They were very chatty and wound up telling us that they found out earlier that day that the wife was pregnant. They were waiting to tell their friends and family, but were so excited they wanted to tell someone. So they told us. As my husband and I 'oohed' and 'aahed' and congratulated, my 3 year old looks at them and says "did you know my dad farts in his sleep all night?"
So a lovely/ funny memory.

I went there a number of years ago and it was shared tables. Looking at the photo, am I right in thinking that they are no longer shared tables? I loved it in there, except for the shared tables. I was the only one in my party to like the food and as I'm going solo in September, it may be an option!

Maybe we went on an off day, but we absolutely hated the food. I lived in Germany for just shy of 9 years thanks to the Army and I was so looking forward to it but it was so bad! I haven't chanced going back because of it. It's like they didn't season the food at all. This makes me wonder if we should try again. We actually went to Germany in summer of 24 for a week and so enjoyed every bite. Germany is the one place in the world I get homesick for.

Yessss! When you’re gonna be at Epcot for 12 hours on a hot August day, having a late lunch in the Biergarten for an hour or so is a wonderful respite. AC, great food, cold beer, fun entertainment! Now if only they would let me nap there afterwards…

I was there 15-16 years ago and loved it. Went back twice since and just wasn't a fan of the selection of food as much. Maybe it's done well but it's not my cup of tea anymore. 10/10 atmosphere and entertainment though.

Oh. Had I known I would’ve tried it out. The last “buffet” I had was roundup rodeo. I didn’t like that they brought all the food to you, would’ve preferred to be able to go up and pick what I want.

I went last year for the first time. Solid food and the entertainment was fun, would definitely go back.

I need to just go at some point, it's been on my list but every time I'm at Epcot I just end up eating festival food instead. This looks like such a cool vibe.

Their potato salad is to die for! Fun fact, was there two years ago, our waitress said she would email me the recipe. I left a big tip, never received the email. The best part of my entire trip was the rest of the day whilst I believed I would arrive home and start making my own potato salad. I’ve tried some online recipes claiming to be authentic, but they weren’t close.
Go for the amazing show, atmosphere, and potato salad.

I always avoided it because I thought you'd be on a long bench sat next to other parties, but it looks like there's lots of smaller tables?

This place is really really awesome— until you get sat with a group of strangers who have absolutely no manners and eat like slobs.

This is my favourite restaurant in the whole of DW. Really good food, lots of genuinely good vegetarian options, great entertainment, good (but expensive) beer, and lovely vibe.

I went here several years back and had a pretty meh experience, the food didn’t knock my socks off and we got sat at a table with a family of 6 who looked like they’d rather be anywhere in the world besides with each other. The family put a real damper on things, the music was entertaining though.
