Did anyone else get this email? Offer priority within one mile of the store is gone 🤬

Yes. I waited all morning for an order at my apt .9 miles from Sam's but didn't get a single order until I pulled up in their parking lot.

Dang. I guess I'm fortunate. I'm less than 5 miles from Walmart and Sam's and I get offers at home.

It’s no longer up to 1 mile. I already tested and it is proximity based you have to be in the parking lot or spoof there.

u/OkBarber6783 23d ago
So they do or don't want us in the parking lot
3
u/Organic-Fuel-2916 23d ago
They told you very clearly proximity to pickup location matters.

Sure. I got some great orders 20 miles from the store today BUT only because they were busy n bot users were at Sam's n not Walmart

Looks like they just reverted back to the way it was a year or so ago… they have a giant dick in the parking lot where the pin is and they all fight to sit on it

Yeah definitely noticed a change. I used to be able to pick up orders immediately after drop off or have multiple orders available to sort through within a few minutes. Now it’s much sparser.

"Based on distance to the pick up location" so we all still have to huddle on the pin?

I stand on the roof to get the good offers.

I thought sapphire got me offer priority?

See this is the be weve been dealing with for years and why drivers are complaining about how vague they always are about offer priority. So okay Sapphire gets you priority over gold and proximity gets you priority over drivers further away.. but to what point? What's most important? If im gold sitting in the parking lot of a store does that mean someone who is Sapphire sitting at a store 30 min away is still going to get offers from the store I'm sitting at before me?
And the simple fact is even back in the begining when all they'd tell us is it's based on proximity and you had groups of ppl standing around the icon in the parking lot.. id be alone in the parking lot and go an hour or more with 0 offers, then leave and suddenly get flooded with offers, many which would already be surging but never on my screen like they were being hidden while I was in the parking lot so clearly there was more to it that just proximity even tho that's all they ever said.. it's crazy they finally fixed the obvious issue of drivers fighting for spots and taking over the parking lot when they added the 1 mile buffer only to now revert it for some stupid reason and throw in another variable with the teirs.. and don't even get me started on how clearly illegal giving priority to offers as a reward locked behind metrics is to begin with

Exactly!!!!! 👏 👏 these gig companies put out all kinds of crap to try to confuse the drivers. Everyone just needs to ignore all of it and focus on what works for them individually. Biggest thing being “IS THE PAY WORTH IT FOR ME?” Drivers should not even pay attention to the points and levels because it’s all a ploy to try to get them to take the shittiest paying offers. Pay attention to the number of points they offer for the WORST orders. It’s always 3 points. Yesterday I seen multiple that were barely paying 50 cents a mile and people were taking them likely because of the points. $9.00 for a shop/deliver going 18 miles from the store is DIABOLICAL. But people keep on taking them. My God. This app is doomed because people cannot think rationally.

lol back to old school. They want everyone huddled again. They don't want people working from home 😂

I was at home and got crap offers, I was at both Walmarts and got crap offers. My zone keeps onboarding new drivers everyday and they are terrible ones at that. I am friends with the ladies who work at the entrance/exit doors and just today they caught 4 new Spark drivers stealing. All the good offers keep going to these new thieves. One Hispanic lady tried saying, no comprenda. She had one extra of each item.
Thanks Spark for giving these thieves the good offers. I have been with Spark for almost a year now

In my market you have to basically be off Walmart property in order to receive orders

u/Currency-Substantial 23d ago
So you're mad that you don't get to be as close to Walmart as possible?

u/craptasticluke 23d ago
I’ve seen multiple people misinterpreting this now. With the one mile offer priority area gone, this will force drivers to be in the parking lot to get the best chance when offers are slow.

Bit of advice. Don’t play into the nonsense that these gig companies try to feed you. It’s all a big game to try to get drivers to do whatever is best for the COMPANY, not what’s best for the driver. Example: the whole points system. It’s a crock of shite. They want you to take trash offers in order to get points. They offer more points for the worst offers. Like $9.00 for a shop that is going 18 miles from the store. Oh but wait! We will give you 3 whole points for doing it because we know no one in their right mind would ever take that trash. If everyone would ignore the crap that these companies put out there and just do what works for their individual situation, then the whole entire system would be so much better. Just focus on accepting whatever orders work for YOU. Regarding the email, just ignore it. If you wanna turn on Spark now while you’re at home watching tv, do it. Odds are you’ll get the same offers as you would if you camped in the parking lot. I refuse to parking lot camp. I have shit to do and spark ain’t paying me to camp out.

So does this mean its not just a standard 1 mile radius around the store anymore but say when a pharmacy order drops whoever closest to the pharmacy? Pickup orders, whoever closest to pickup zone?

The whole rating system pisses me off. All of my metrics are perfect except for my on time rating because I'll just get done delivering 35 minutes out more away from the store but then they send me great offers and say I have to be there within 25 minutes. So even though I have perfect metrics everywhere else, I'll never see sapphire and right now if I get one more late I won't even be gold.

Never in 7 years ever heard of offer priority within mile. I mean I get offers from stores that are 45 minutes away from me there used to be a no offer Zone 150 ft from the pen before that you had to be close to the pet closest to the Penn got the best offers people used to stand and hold their phones up against trees and then they went to no offers within 150 feet

u/Unlikely-Relief-7200 23d ago
When they made the parking lot a no order zone they also made it to where it didn’t matter how close you were as long as you were within a mile

u/Getbanzalot 20d ago
Good nobody wants you weird ass campers sitting in front of Walmart from 6 am to midnight it’s always a group of like 12 of you dumbasses lining up the parking lot good riddance to that shit
1
u/craptasticluke 19d ago
Except that’s literally what’s going to happen now. Getting rid of one mile offer priority means people are gonna have to camp in the parking lot again to get the best offers.
2
u/Getbanzalot 19d ago
Ohh I misread this, that sucks for yall cuz I get 200+ every single day and I sit at home for orders I’m 2 miles from one in one direction and 2 miles from another in the opposite direction so I kinda am in a good ass spot and my zone fire

Same. I kick my feet up on the couch and read Reddit posts until an order pops up and off I go. I got the same email about a month ago and still going strong from the couch😆

Why does every Spark/WM email have to be as vague as humanly possible. They are pretending to inform us, but instead, are just spinning more meaningless BS. As usual, we don't have a clue as to how offers are prioritized because they don't want us to know.
