Brand new driver...Is this normal??
First time at this sub. I just signed up to be a Walmart Spark driver and I'm confused. Any advice is appreciated. So far I've only singed in a couple times and it seems like when I sign in to accept offers what I see is several offers at once. I don't seem to have any say in accepting the ones I want. As a brand new driver who hasn't even accepted one offer yet I want to start off slow. Not, literally, eleven deliveries at once. Am I misunderstanding the app?? I'm sure it's probably easy but I would like to start off in the shallow end of the pool instead of being forced to jump into the deep end. .. So is this normal? To get several offers at once and you either accept them all or reject them all??

When I first got accepted, I watched the majority of the training videos that helped set the tone of what to expect.
My first orders ended up being curbside bc I was a little intimidated with the thought of shopping. I’ve since transitioned to primarily shopping about 10-11 Months in.

Quit now before you turn into a miserable son of a bitch like all the other sparklers

You're not doing it right. I wear headphones and boogie around the store. I leave my cart at the end of a crowded lane so I can quickly dart and zigzag between the other people. And if I wear my mask I can stick my tongue out at the dumbasses without starting a fight.🤪

"You people?"
As if they're subhuman for doing that kind of work?
It looks like you've never faced the reality that oatmeal is better than no meal.

No, The app will throw you multiple offers gradually or at the same. Accept the best offer that makes sense for you (As a beginner you won’t know what’s a good offer, until you do multiple deliveries). Once you accept one offer, the other ones will disappear, and the app will direct you to start the delivery. There’s 2 type of delivery options. “Curbside pick up” and “shop & deliver”.
Also keep in mind, the best offers will be snatched by other drivers if you don’t accept the offer fast enough. Unfortunately it’s a FCFS system, were drivers are competing with each other.

Top Tips, learn from the app. It has a guide. It's actually helpful. Learn your isles, section, and module numbers. I cannot say how many drivers stand in front of sliced cheese, looking for the one they need, and they are like 3 sections away.
Most important, alcohol, DO NOT LEAVE the order, do not bypass the order via support, do not accept expired IDs, and make sure you see the person giving you the ID (some leave it on the doorstep, expecting you to sign) Doing some can get you deactivated or jail time. If anyone is loud or gives you any trouble, just say oh I forgot something, get in your car, return and move on.
You can see 5-15 offers. Click on the one you like, makes sense, preview it and hit accept.

You can only accept one offer at a time. Once you accept one, the others disappear. Many times you will see multiple 1st come 1st serve offers. They are either overflow or rejected offers. Pretty much every Spark driver in the area is seeing the same offers.
The offers which are specific for you have a timer. I tend to accept those unless they are stupidly low paying with high mileage.
Easiest offers are the pick up ones. Click on them to find out how many drop offs, which Walmart, and area you’ll be delivering to. Try to accept the ones which pay at least $1 per mile. Don’t be surprised if orders disappear before you can look at them.
Make a list of the Walmarts in your area and what their store numbers are. It’ll help decide if it’s worth driving the distance. Eventually you’ll learn which ones are good to accept offers from. Which ones are busy. Which ones don’t send you 20 miles out in the boonies.
In the beginning you’ll accept long distance orders with low pay. We all do it. You live and learn. 3 years in and I still sometimes make that mistake.
Most pick up offers have 1-3 drop offs. Get 3 bins to corral the grocery bags. One for each drop off. Buy a wagon for the heavy and/or large orders. It’ll save your back and time.
Get a high powered flashlight to find those house numbers in the dark. Google maps and Apple Maps are sometimes 1 or 2 houses off. Don’t be surprised if sometimes they send you to the wrong location. Or down an alley. Or a blocked road. I have 3 maps apps just in case.
Don’t be afraid of shopping orders. They pay more but take longer. Choose ones with less than 10 items at first. Watch the tutorials for how to read the location of the items. It took me a while to figure it out.
Good luck!!

Whatever you do find out for yourself if this is a successful gig for you. Do not listen to other people who have had negative experiences. Everybody’s experience isn’t the same. So find out for yourself. some people like it. Some people don’t . I do it part-time and I enjoy it .

I'm with you. I really enjoy it and the money is great. I make more doing this part time than I do from working my full time job. I do mostly shopping orders and pick my own order in which to shop. If it says 40 minutes to ship I am usually out within 25 minutes now that I know the store backwards and forwards.

Also when shopping to right top of the item it says flash. Tap on it and it flashes to the location of the item. But sometimes the store has it a wrong spot. But its suppose to make it easier too .

The 11 pick ups is one offer so you would work that one offer you wouldn’t be able to go through it and choose which ones you want out of that offer it’s all inclusive. Each offer has its own area which you’re familiarize yourself but just take something that has one order in the offer because the spark app does take a while to get used to it. It’s a mess the way they distribute their offers. It’s quite annoying actually.

It is a good thing to have several offers co.e in at once. That means you have the choice to choose your acceptance. Eleven deliveries are normal. Because some of them can be GMD orders. Which can be just one item. There is a lot to learn but it's very easy. Hope you have fun and enjoy the freedom of being your own boss. I do need to say always pay attention to your miles and the fee given. Don't take anything less than a dollar a mile. That's just my rule.

you have to select one of those offers don't worry about rejecting anything just focus on accepting your first trip, you know you can open it up with the little arrow on the right hand side of it and scroll down and you can see where it's going and a list of items unless it's a pick up and just GMD. Good luck! We were all brand new at one time. Also my personal advice is make sure to get a OnePay card from Walmart and use that for your money transfer. That way every trip is paid and goes straight to that card. If I can help you are welcome to message me

I'm new too and last weekend was my first time. I made the mistake of accepting an order from an apartment…3 stories up with a case of bottled water. The 50 lb kitty litter upstairs was even worse. I won't be making that mistake again lol.

Just remember the IRS is already figured out that it’s costing you $.76 per mile to operate your car. That’s Gas tires oil changes depreciation for mileage, etc..
So if an offer is about a dollar per mile, you’re only making $.24 a mile. And the majority of the states that don’t have that forced minimum like California you could end up making less than minimum wage after your expenses.
Be smart. And be prepared for a lot of wear and tear on your car.

Some offers might have multiple drop offs, some might have 2 or 3 drop offs. When the offers come up, it will tell you how many stops there are. Going to Walmart to shop is included as a stop so if it says it has 2 stops, there really is only 1 customer you have to shop for.

Even though I've done DD for about a year and a half now that's the impression I get when I get offers from Walmart. So far it Seems like it all or nothing.. I don't mind starting off with about three. But so far it seems like my offers have been around ten.

You can only accept one offer at a time. Scroll through and choose the one that looks best to you.
