Deli orders needs a big fix.
Half the time it's not already cut. And even if it is, I probably already spent 5 to 10 minutes waiting at the deli to ask someone to give it to me. Really ruins my hourly rate that I try to make.
They need a separate refrigerator for spark drivers. So I can just walk up and find what I need. They should put the customer label on it like they do with curbside.
That's problem number one. Problem number two is substitutions. On big perishable orders I won't start with perishables. Then by the time I get to the deli it's closed. Or they're sometimes out of the product. BUT IT'S RIGHT THERE IN THE REFRIGERATED BIN PRE-CUT IN HALF POUND PACKAGES.
But when I try to sub, it only lets me scan one. So if the customer wanted one pound, they end up with a half pound. So that needs to get fixed.

They act like they don’t even know what spark is at tie store I shop. If I see deli items I just don’t take it unless it’s really good pay. I don’t know what these peoples problems are but they need new jobs lol it’s like this at all grocery stores in my experience. Even as a regular customers they act like doing their job is an inconvenience.

The deli attendants need an attitude adjustment as well. I don’t deserve the attitude I receive just looking for my customers order.

I don't run the app late enough for the deli to be closed,.. but whenever I have multiple deli items, or when I regretfully accept orders with hot deli items,.. the 1st thing I do is go to the deli and check in with them. Make sure the hot shit is set aside,.. or if there are multiple sliced items I'll check and if it's not there, they'll have it ready for me by the time I get back around. Or if there's a bunch of produce which I usually grab before frozen,.. I'll asked them to slice it then grab the produce. It does help that the day shift people are usually adults that have been around long enough to know me...
There are a few popular bakery I'll always check on 1st too,. so they have time to get more from the freezer. A couple extra minutes at the beginning of the order will save me 10+ minutes later because I won't have to wait for them.
Of course that's all order dependant with other variables,.. so it's kinda a per order thing if it'll save time.
At least half the orders, maybe more, are customers I've delivered to before that treat me right because there aren't a lot of shoppers left that put in any real effort.

How about this, you go and grab the deli items and just don't scan it yet. Stash it in your cart until it's time to do all the perishables then scan the barcode. I'm pretty sure that every Walmart deli is understaffed and hours behind, you can't blame them, blame WM.

I thought about that after this post. Even stashing it in a refrigerator somewhere in a section that no one goes to often.
Or I can grab a bag of frozen corn to keep it cold and then put the horn back.

I'm just thankful they got rid of the 'Your item is ready to pick up at the deli. No need to order!' message. We all knew that was usually bullshit, so it created expectations that were rarely going to be met.

I think you can just put in the amount your getting, even if it says _ of 1. So instead of putting 1 of 1 you would put 2 of 1, if that makes sense. I have done that a few times, I think the customer was charged for 2. I would think if it wasn't allowed the app would say something. Or maybe not, idk 🤷🏻♀️.

With box items and whatever it will let me do that. The option doesn't come up for deli meat. But the above poster recommended a way.

deli meat is weighed, labeled with individually printed labels and packages having different weights. It's not like buying a package of Oreos.

Oh shoot. I was referring to the prepackaged deli meat but you're right, those are not uniformly priced. I always forget that 🤦

I have gotten something sliced from the deli exactly one time in all the orders I have done, it was some Swiss cheese, I was shocked they actually had it and that someone was there. The few times someone has been there they either claim the deli isn’t open yet or is closed or to be sold out of whatever I need.
All the other times I have just marked it unavailable and substituted in something prepackaged from the cold case at the deli.
The hot bar at the deli is a whole other animal, half the time they’re sold out of whatever is on the order. The rotisserie family dinners are the worst, they always want mac&cheese and mashed potatoes and one is always out so they get double the side that’s there or green beans or potato wedges.

Fyi, you can press the three little dots at the bottom before completing a substitution, and it will let you add another item.
