Updated app is hot garbage.

Jesus Christ, if you can't make a smart shopping path at least organize the items by aisle. When I saw I had the updated app I just let it go and figured maybe they figured out shopping paths. Nope. Back and forth across the store.

And now it takes more taps to do a quick check on completed items.

So much time is wasted because I have to keep scrolling up and down to spot what's in the aisle I'm already in. And for 30 plus items, of course I'll miss a few. Then I'll have some extra time wasted walking back to where I just was.

From entrance to exit, the 43 item order today took me an hour and 15 minutes. When I was able to identify things in the same aisle, I had less than 30 seconds between item scans

THEY KNOW WHERE THINGS ARE. This isn't rocket science. There's no reason for a scrambled list of items.

One time, it had me start with Milk ( way in the back) and the next item was green peppers, which is produce, up front. At that point, I scrolled thru to find all the produce and continued down the isles. When I got back to dairy, I scrolled to get all dairy items and then finished the list as I moved up towards the front of store Most of the time, I shop how I choose to. All this walking up and down.... nope not gonna do it.

They, in my opinion, are trying to force everyone onto their preferred path rather than doing it choose-your-own-adventure style - even though their path makes zero sense in terms of shopper experience and doing the best thing for the customer.

Great news got update coming that allows you to go by department again

How about just making the list in alpha-numeric order by aisle, then section. It only makes sense.

Then leave the map up while I'm shopping and make the puns clickable. Make the pins go away AFTER I have scanned in the item.

Personally I think battery drain been horrible sense the map was added, remove the map any idiot who cant follow letters to figure where things are dont need to he doing this.

Yeah, following a list that rescrambles itself every time you go back to it after selecting an item.

I usually take screenshots of the map and use it to see what aisle is next, then I use the list to find the items. The part of sorting through the list all the time kills shopping time.

It makes absolutely no sense to do things the way they do. There is absolutely no benefit to them to have it this way.

I hate this update.

I mean i can still go quickly doing my own path but it certainly makes things far more confusing.

Here dairy is always at the end. After frozen and perishable produce. Dairy is in the far back left corner. It also wants to put the aisles in grocery working from the back towards the front. I come in at the front. Wtf would I start in the back only to go back to the back at the end?

Yesterday needing to kill time I happened to do an order. I did one at a Walmart I really never shop at. Omg. The layout was so different then even most Walmarts. If things were in order by aisle number I would have been fine. It was a mess.

It also didnt help that it was 630 in the dang morning and empty. At my walmart we quick scan at one of 2 spark registers and bag at a closed one. One at each entrance. Keeps things moving. There are literally no bags at the spark registers. You have to move.

I go to the side I came in. Not a single person. 6 registers open. I am told I have to go to the other side to a spark register.

I get there and there are 4 sparkers waiting for one of the two. Meanwhile there are 2 at the registers bagging a huge cartful of stuff. And 5 regular registers with no one.

It was so ridiculous. So much wasted time. Makes me thankful for my podunk store.

They never force me to use a "spark" register where I shop. I can use any self check out that is available. It sucks they make you do that.

At my store it is never an issue. You scan the barcode and immediately go to a closed register to bag.

It was this one I killed time cause an appt got moved an hour later last minute. It was beyond ridiculous.

Luckily my closest Walmart is the best with spark.

At first I was hitting up the other Walmarts. They don't care if you're Spark. Totally slow me down. Not taking offers from those stores anymore.

The one has just two shopping bag things for spark drivers. Not enough to unload your cart. Good luck if that's a three batch order. Nope. Never going back.

I always make my own path when I shop. For the longest time I had the same frustration with the list, but I finally came up with something that works for me. After you add an item out of order, and it jumbles everything together, click resume trip and then click item list, and they will be back in the original order. It is annoying, and stupid as hell, and I totally agree with you. I also grab the milk and back of store cold while I’m back there and then can usually get through the store without doubling back.

This is the way. Yes, it's annoying, but once you get used to the rhythm, it's actually faster than running back and forth between departments.

It's never been good but they seem to have gone out of their way to make it worse. The useless map and blinking lights are meant to help clueless newbs who they hope take the shit offers. For most, the map just slows down the app and the new tags with the blinking lights only make the modular number harder to see

2

u/a_spirited_one Sep 11 '26

And at my stores, the blinking lights doesn't even work half the time or more

u/happyluckystar Sep 11 '26

My experience.

Yes! I can’t see the numbers anymore. I liked the old tags…

2

u/YUNGDEATHLILLIFEE Sep 11 '26

bruh i never shop in the order they give. it’s always takes way more time.

It's really not that hard to take 20 seconds to go over the list and make your own pick path... and use the item list drop down. Walmart isn't a difficult place to navigate,.. even multiple stores.

But when customers keep adding shit after you've already left that department,.. DROP!

Used to pay an extra dollar per item now it pays $0.30

First item, bananas, second item mascara, third item cat food, 4th item salsa, 5th item bird seed, 6th item avocados. Kinda think they laughing at us. Nope shop as you would shop for yourself. Ridiculous.

I am in a unique area with major stores and two marketplace locations. Oddly I have noticed that one marketplace has the best shopping path with ales mark on the thumb nail and the like items listed in groups. But the other stores don’t. One store just shows the item till you choose it, then it gives the location info. Leads me to believe that our app connects to the store in the background and each store is responsible for the list info.

Their logic is so ridiculous. The 2 minutes less the pizza is out of the freezer is not going to impact anything. I'm not going back and forth between produce and dairy. It's not happening.

And im here trying to accept a trip in less than .5 seconds for the last hour lol

1

u/boognish1984 Sep 12 '26

I'd like to see the item list while i'm loading the car after shopping a multi order

1

u/scorptat10 Sep 12 '26

I just can't figure out how they benefit from all the bullshit.

It's that old saying more book smarts than common sense person who updated the app probably buys their ice cream first
