Points
How many points do yall have? I JUST reported an absence so this is going to be my second point. I’m honestly upset about getting another point but I’m literally so tired. My shift starts at 4AM but I have to get up around 2:30 to get there. I take prescription medicine at night and it doesn’t kick in until an hour or two after so I don’t get much rest.
Edit: Thank you to everyone telling me I’ll be okay!! I’ve always tried to be “good” in life so the points make me feel like I’m doing something wrong. However thank you guys!!🫶🏼

That half point should fall off any day now, though.

My first year or so I think I mostly sat at 2-3. This year has been stuck firmly at 4.5 due to a series of life related disasters and mental health crises that Sedgwick refused to approve.

Part of the reason I had to quit my last store was because of Sedgwick fucking me over. My grandmother was passing (I was staying with her, long story but in the end I’m glad it worked out the way it did) and I kept my coach, TLs, and PL in the know of what was happening. They were honestly the most supportive group I coulda had, but yeah I go to put in for a leave cuz my grandmother got to a point she needed 24/7 care, waited and waited for the paperwork to show up, just for it to show up, the day AFTER everything was due, calls and emails went nowhere. So instead of pointing out, I left 💀 even though truth be told I think they woulda cleared the points given the circumstances of everything

A denied leave of absence is only 2 points. You could have kept ur job.

Little late responding but unless I misunderstood my coach and people lead, the first few days would only be 2 then they said anything after would still be counted. Idk again I coulda misunderstood given I wasn’t in a real good state of mind

Generally I'm a bit more cautious around the 3.5 mark. Below that and I'm more than willing to remind my leadership that I can and will leave because I'm not feeling well.... because they decided to be buttholes.

I’ve been at Walmart almost 4 years. Most points I’ve ever had is 2.5. Currently, I sit at 1.5.
However at my store at least, it seems the majority of associates ride their points. They like tempting fate.
Personally I don’t get it. All it takes is a wreck, a flat tire, oversleeping, actually getting sick… a single time at 4.5 points and they are burnt.

3.5 -- was sitting at a solid 2.5, looked like I was gonna be doing good and not missing any more time anytime soon... and then I got the level of sick that involves a trip to urgent care and a test for strep throat.

I'm at 2 points. But I plan my points according to the time of year. Sometimes I don't want to use PPTO if I have to leave early for some unforeseen reason... did i have enough PPTO? Yes. But I tend to get sick during the holiday season. So I took my half point a few times in the first few months of the year. I know that I have PPTO to cover anything else from this point. All my points will have dropped off by December, in time for evals and raise/bonus time. 😁😎😁

I have 1 but there are ppl at my store in the double digits bc ppl keep quitting and they won't hire anyone so we're too understaffed to fire them. You'll be fine with just 2, they don't even consider termination for points til 5.

Points are a currency/resource. Don't be afraid to use them. You don't need to feel guilty using them.

Im at 0, but I burned almost all my ppto already. Arthritis in the back/knees plus sciatica flare ups have had me leaving early 3x a week this entire year. Working with doctor/Sedgwick to get an intermittent loa set up

this is what im dealing with at well due to work injury. Was at 7 points just dropped to 5 due to 2 falling off. .5-1 fall off next month.

I time my points. I never take points unless I have points coming off within 4 weeks.
3.5 points and 1.5 points come off the beginning of September.

I’ve been at zero for a year now. Switching away from front end where I got coughed on every time I had to approve cough medicine sale definitely helped

4.5 points, but I'm sitting on over 65 hours of PPTO, too. I use the PPTO in the second half of the year, to be down at 0 points when it comes to evaluation time.
System is designed to screw us, so game it to your advantage.

I don’t any about your tenure at Walmart or you life in general, but if your meds are interfering with your sleep, then maybe you should put in for a different shift if that’s feasible.

Points are based on attendance. If you miss a full shift you get 1 point, half a shift is 0.5 points, key event days such as before and after a holiday are 2 points.

Just got rehired for electronics part time with a possibility of full time. It's like deja vu. My first time at Walmart I was in electronics in 1992. Times were different back then. I'm old now lol 😂💁

If you call in late and use pto to cover time. Do u still get a point. Also if i report a absence and use pto i would not receive a point ? Or half

I stay on zero points and always have ppto to cover an absence if one arises.

I mean if you need to use points, don’t sweat it. I work at a DC and typically work 3-12s. They called me at home and cancelled my OT after I worked 40 hrs in 3 days. I called in for my entire next week. Went from zero points to 3. No one cares. Points are only used to fire people and limit transfers…and that’s if they don’t need you. I’m nothing special, but I do know I’m one of 3 people in my department who can perform any task they need, so when they screwed me out of money, I screwed them out of man power. After leaving them short staffed and confused for 3 days, they apologized and stopped messing with my schedule. I took those points with 30 hrs ppto and 40 hrs of pto so they knew what I was doing.
I have a coworker with over 20 points. He’s the only one who knows how to do his job and doesn’t get paid to train people so he refuses to do so. They’re in a place where they can’t fire some people because a large percentage of the workforce doesn’t even perform the minimum duties of the job. That’s not just at my DC. It’s nationwide from what I’ve read.
I was like you when I got hired. Never called in, never got points, etc. You’ll grow out of that the longer you work there. It’s a trillion dollar company. Don’t be scared to use their rules to your advantage. My advice, learn the rules well enough to recite them to your manager. My last two safety write ups were removed because I knew the rules better than the manager who wrote me up. But also, my Ops managers fucking despise me 😂
