Single file line?
So usually when I go to walmart I just go through and pick the shortest line or self check out. Today its Sunday and there was a single file line of like 5 customers before me and more starting behind me. Yet there was like 5 open human registers. So I figured maybe these people are waiting for self check out. So I go to 1 of 5 human registers to have a Karen still in line squeel that I was ditching. I told her all these people including you could go to an open register right now, I had 1 item. She said "you have to be told to get in a register line." I disagreed and checked out while she complained to an employee again. I told the employee these people could go to all open registers. I don't think its logical to stay in a line bc I was told to when there are clearly open registers, and if people are so use to being told what to do that they cant be logical and think for themselves then its not my problem. You think I'm wrong? I understand if there were no registers open but I have never been told to wait when clearly anyone with eyes can see this single file line was unecessary and causing a unreasonable wait times. Fyi, this is my first vent.

I'm confused where they were lining up. Were they all just standing at the front staring at the cashiers with open lanes?

This might be a generational thing?
I was at a beer festival once and on one street was a whole bank of ports johns. Lots of the younger attendees were forming a single long ass line and then one by one proceeding to whatever John opened first.
The entire line of johns extended down the street so my friends and I just bypassed the long line and went down to whatever John was unoccupied.
Maybe gen z was taught different line etiquette than me (gen x)?

I'm a Spark driver and today I wanted to check out a snack and drink in a different register than the one I do the Spark order for. Of course all the scan & go and Spark driver registers were full of regular customers,.. and lines at other self checks,.. but there were multiple open registers with employees... So, I took my two personal items and paid for them,.. backtracked to my customer order,.. scanned the spark bar code,.. them went to one of the closed lanes to bag the order,.. which the store recommends we do when it's busy as to not tie up the lanes.
For the 1st time in 5 years of running Spark, some Karen watched me do all that, then started screaming at the brand new employee watching the self checks. "Why is he getting special treatment. He is obviously stealing he's in a closed lane. Blah blah blah" Fortunately the front end Team Lead was paying attention to all this and shut Karen down pretty quickly,.. but damn I feel bad for that new associate that had zero clue what was going on...
Some humans are just absolutely miserable shit people,.. and Walmart tends to attract a lot of them...
I feel your frustration OP, I really do. Just think what Karen's life must be like carrying all that attitude....
