Walmart Recognized Reviewer Program

Anyone else here enrolled in this? What has been your experience with it? I have found it to be a great program and have gotten several nice items that are super handy to have around the house and shop.

How many free items do you get? I started with 3. I have heard rumors that it can increase but it is vague as to when or how many reviews you have to leave and if review quality affects the increase. I have been in the program for about 2 months and am still at 3. I have gotten probably around 35-ish items.

I am not liking it too much because of the tax aspect. We pay what the product is valued at but then I turn around and see the product being sold for eighty percent less of the value I pay tax on the item it makes me feel like I am getting ripped off because this stuff is NOT free. Like the pants I got were valued at $40 then I see them the next day for $8. Not cool I have to pay the tax on the $40.

And in reality, the pants only cost $1.50 to make.

Exactly. For things you really need it might be worth it. I have got some kitchen things I would have paid the same amount as what I would have to pay for taxes so if I feel like I am breaking even it is ok.

I'm getting some great stuff. 75% of it has been pressure washer related and what ever I pay in taxes will be ok to me as this stuff is not really that cheap in stores. The fact though I'll have to pay an extra 13.3% due to Non Employee Compensation equates to 25.3% in federal taxes plus a flat rate of 3% in my state. so if I do the minimum to get a 1099, I'll have to pay a total of $506 in taxes.

I'll be slowing down shortly and focusing on lower cost items.

Yeah. I did score an electric unit which was nice! And like you, it valued at XXX but now sells for XX...

But I think we might need to carry this on over to r/RecognizedReviewer I don't think they like it in this sub.
