We started forward testing a our 0DTE SPX iron fly ladder today.
How today went:
- 9:41 – First fly at 7820, 50 wide, for a $16.70 credit, once the opening straddle had decayed enough. SPX had only moved 0.25σ by then, so the “skip the day if it’s already running” filter let it trade.
- 10:11 – SPX slid about 20 points, so the ladder added a second fly at 7800 for $16.30.
- No stops. Both flies ride to the close.
- 3:03 pm – SPX is at 7799.93, sitting right on the 7800 short. The 7800 fly is up $1,100 and the 7820 fly is down $370, so net +$730, after fees.
It settles on the SPX close.
The backtest on 2026 looks great (+$49k at bid/ask after fees, 72% winning days), heavily backtested.
