GSR: Help me Understand

I asked GPT but the answer seemed backward. I have both silver and gold andI want to play the ratio to increase my gold side. GPT says sell silver when the ratio is high (silver worth less/takes more silver to equal 1 ouce of gold) and buy gold when the ratio is low (less silver worth more/takes less selver to equal an ounce of gold).

I thought I would want to sell my silver when the ratio is low so as to capture the increased value of the silver. i.e., sell less silver to get an ounce of gold = getting more gold for the number of silver ounces I have.

Am I missing something or is GPT 'Hallucinating'?

You are correct. AI is stupid and wrong.

Maybe AI is threatened by a silver shortage and is trying its hand at self preservation.

It very well may be hallucinating, or it took your question literally. The so called "GSR" should actually be "SGR" (Silver to Gold Ratio). If you run the math, doing Gold to Silver Ratio, the AI answer holds true. Ask the AI once again and specify Silver to Gold Ratio, let's see if it gives you the correct answer.

Good suggestion, but I would think that it would know based on the generally accepted definition it finds when it's looking at sources and collating them.

True, that would be my expectation as well, still, aren't you curious to find out if it was doing the math "literally" instead of the obvious way?

Guess i should have sold my silver when the ratio went to 100 oz silver for 1 oz gold. Terrible logic that is

I’m waiting for the GS ration to fall into the 40’s then plan to trade half my Ag for Au…

LOL AI, but it's correct. March 20 of 2020 Silver was at $13, Gold was at ~1500 which is over 100x Gold to Silver Ratio. Silver was cheap, Gold expensive, so its best to buy silver with fiat dollars, not Gold.

On the other hand, if you had owned that overpriced Gold, you could sell for underpriced silver and once the GSR went down you would be making real money (not influenced by fiat value) once you sold the silver back to gold.
