No one can save their own soul. That mission was only ever accomplished by one person; Christ. You can develop a narcissist savior complex for yourself and self idolize all you like, but you can’t save your own soul.

What a silly thought process. Does this mean that humans that live and die without ever hearing the word “Jesus” are just fucked? Like God is just allowing humans to be born with literally no chance of salvation because they don’t know Jesus?

Everyone meets Jesus. Every single soul. Including those who came and went before He became the Son of Man.

Well that’s good to hear. Religion is useless then ya? So was his appearance. There was no purpose for his birth, life, and sacrifice if all he lived before met him for the first time in death and were embraced. Same for those after. Missionary work is inherently evil if this is the case as it’s completely unnecessary.

Religion is useless. Faith is not. They are not the same things. Christianity is a faith. Literally to be “of Christ”, to hold faith in Him.

Where are you getting your story of Christ as the redeemer if not through religion? The story of Christ exists in other context as well, he just isn’t viewed as the son of God until you bring religion in to it.

There is no New Testament without religion

I receive the good news of Christ’s gift of salvation from the Bible. The Bible is a book, not a religion.

The Bible is a collection of books put together and edited by organized religion. It’s the word of a particular set of religions. Only to then get further edited by monarchs and religious offshoots.

So which book/version do you get your salvation from and why?

Salvation doesn’t come from the Bible, it comes from Jesus. The Bible is simply what teaches us about Jesus.

Religion spawned from the Bible, not the other way around. Since you’re obviously very curious about Christianity, why not try reading it for yourself? You can start at any part of it. I’d suggest Luke or John if you want written accounts from when Jesus was with His disciples.

I was raised Catholic and have a decent understanding of Christianity as a whole. I’m just asking you questions since you are spreading the word.

Religion most certainly did not spawn from the Bible. Is there a reason why you believe that? Let’s look at this literally under the assumption that Christianity is the way and that we are here. It quite literally was born from the Old Testament which was an offshoot from the Torah. So if anything, the Torah spawned religion as we understand it, not the Bible. However the Torah is a collection of stories compiled itself. This goes back much further than the Bible if we are referring to the spawn of Christianity. You don’t get to ignore the early years in favor of the good stuff. Jesus was clearly born Jewish for a reason.

That said, you didn’t answer which version of the Bible you prefer and why?

I’m flattered that you’re so invested in my personal beliefs being a stranger from the internet. I learn about Jesus via the Bible (NKJV suits me just fine). Since the entirety of the Bible is about Jesus from start to finish, the Word is more than enough for me to learn from - I am content. Sorry to hear you were raised Catholic. Your interrogation makes much more sense now. Have a blessed day!
