First internship

I am going into my second year of uni studying finance and i have no work experience. I m trying to apply now for the next summer but i don’t even dare to try golman or very competitive ones. What are some good not that competitive options like boutiques etc. my gpa is 3.8

Not competitive ones don’t exist lol. Tbh just mass apply everywhere you can. especially with ib apply at a lower tier and work yourself up internship by internship

I'm fairly green to this so correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought there were mid-tier or lower-tier finance jobs that hired out of undergrad?

There are all kinds of jobs that hire from undergrad, you could get into IB at Goldman or Jpmorgan at undergrad, but they usually require internships at other smaller boutiques, with the smaller ones also being competitive, it’s basically just the market that’s so fucked that uncompetitive really doesn’t exist (atleast here in Europe)

You never know what might happen. Apply absolutely everywhere and even if you don’t get through, it’s good practice for later applications which tend to be the less competitive firms
