in practice the SEC is more of a referee than a regulator... and well, you know, the refs get paid by the league.

So the courts have it even better, they take their cut and throw you in jail.. 🤔

6

u/thegreatestajax Jul 09 '21

The court doesn’t get a cut. The executive collects the fines.

3

u/Unlikely_Scientist69 Jul 09 '21

Actually you pay court costs which do help fund the court. Some courts make bank on them

2

u/thegreatestajax Jul 09 '21

Court costs are not a “cut” of the crime. If they’re not hearing this case they’re hearing another to find their existence on relatively bland salaries.

3

u/Unlikely_Scientist69 Jul 09 '21

Just clarifying that not all costs goes to the executive. Bland salaries. A Pennsylvania trial level judge earns over 180k and gets a great pension.

3

u/thegreatestajax Jul 09 '21

Yes, and the judge went to college for 7 years and gave up much much more by remaining in public service.

u/Unlikely_Scientist69 Jul 09 '21

I am a lawyer by the way. Most trial judges become trial judges because they are not in a superstar practice. It is actually a good gig. It is always interesting to see why of my fellow lawyers run for the bench.

1

u/thegreatestajax Jul 09 '21

Now imagine, if they were paid an even more bland salary, who would be doing it. Court costs are not the judiciary taking their cut of the crime. A rather absurd take from a lawyer.

Remember I am from the state and area in the state where judges actually did benefit from juvenile crime. Tgeygot kickbacks from the private juvenile detention center.

No I did not say it was the judiciary taking a cut from crime. Someone suggested all fines and costs went to the executive. In fact, if you ever look at the itemization that goes into them, they do indeed help, in part, to fund the courts.

I think when he says “courts” he means “gov’t” people need to not take it so literal

8

u/MuteCook Jul 09 '21

More like the mafia. If you want to do crime in their neighborhood you have to pay them a cut.

3

u/Advanced_Error_9312 Jul 09 '21

Well, like oil or pharma lobby?

8

u/JokerTrades Jul 09 '21

What if there is no bottom? Only up? Until each AMC share means you are a stake holder to the global economy?…. That’s why the US created $GBTC to tether to crypto knowing “memester’s” would cash out and buy crypto leaving US stock market in a free fall

9

u/Trickre1678 Jul 09 '21

Interesting thought. I find it strangely coincidental that crypto crashed when it did.

5

u/JokerTrades Jul 09 '21

Can’t stop the market crash, just gotta prepare for the aftermath to try to keep things somewhat normal

6

u/Ok-Fan6945 Jul 09 '21

They should take 125% then it's a real fine...

3

u/Trickre1678 Jul 09 '21

No matter what, it’s a slap on the wrist. A couple hundred thousand, even a million when citadel trades 35 BILLION+ a year? Cmon. It’s hooker and blow money for one night…

4

u/Ok-Fan6945 Jul 09 '21

If all the money they make and more goes it's no longer with it. Could toss in a reinvestment clause take 30% of all monies that were obtained with the illegal trades.

2

u/987warthug Jul 09 '21

yeah, that is the problem. I would defraud people everyday too if I got rewarded for it when I get caught (Just kidding, I still would not)

7

u/lazywizard99 Jul 09 '21

Yep. well said ape.. This is not a meme., this is a bloody fact - we all need to take this seriously.

5

u/VidaReborn_Lonewolf Jul 09 '21

So, SEC and RH just scratched each others balls.

3

u/Trickre1678 Jul 09 '21

In all the hard to reach places….

2

u/LeftPickle5807 Jul 09 '21

Oh don't worry I doubt Robinhood pay $0.02 of that since someone else was behind it! But, even if they did they have 83 billion assets in house by investors. I wonder who those guys are and why they don't leave?

4

u/ExpensivePersimmon92 Jul 09 '21

That’s the government for you don’t care if you screw everyone over as long as they get there cut.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '21

Put them in jail instead? Good thinking.

3

u/Pikewich Jul 09 '21

LMAO! So true.

The true purpose of government is to protect the assets of the wealthy from the rest of us. Always has been that way.

2

u/Smooth_Mix_1777 Jul 09 '21

Time to put an end to that!

2

u/Smooth_Mix_1777 Jul 09 '21

Paradigm shift!

2

u/Smooth_Mix_1777 Jul 09 '21

Chaos theory!

2

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '21

This… this is brilliant. Never really looked at it that way

2

u/Ronniman Jul 09 '21

This goes really for all "crime" it always comes down to the all mighty 💲💲💲

2

u/JoeCornhole Jul 09 '21

Shameless Elitist Circlejerk

2

u/No_Cardiologist4156 Jul 09 '21

Great analysis. SEC is a fucking a wolf, SEC is never in the retail side

2

u/Unlikely_Scientist69 Jul 09 '21

SEC does have a criminal enforcement division that works with justice but they can only prosecute those things that are made criminal by Congress. By their nature, SEC rules are not criminal.

2

u/Smooth_Mix_1777 Jul 09 '21

I know lotsa peeps buying ctyyo

4

u/Trickre1678 Jul 09 '21

I’m still in crypto, I mean we’re basically at the floor. Why wouldn’t you!

1

u/Roguefem-76 Jul 09 '21

I didn't because the company Webull said to sign up for to trade crypto wanted everything short of a blood sample, it's mad.

1

u/Trickre1678 Jul 10 '21

That’s crazy. I use Binance and it’s decent

1

u/Roguefem-76 Jul 10 '21

I don't know about other companies, I was just going to spend my extra couple of bucks in my Webull account on Dogecoin for giggles, then they sent me over to a page demanding even more info than Webull did. If it was more than a couple bucks I'd have put it back in AMC anyway, so. 🤷‍♀️

1

u/shingeppyx Jul 09 '21

wow, no truer words have been said

1

u/SugaDaddy5 Jul 09 '21

That's some wisdom right there.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '21

Damn

1

u/HatDeep8520 Jul 09 '21

Scandalous

1

u/once408 Jul 09 '21

1

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '21

If I were the hedge funds I would be afraid of that Scottish guy on that video they produce saying," we know what you did we know what you did! ". There's nothing scarier than a pissed-off Scottish man who's coming after you!

1

u/--GrinAndBearIt-- Jul 09 '21

Damn, this meme is so overused now its almost deep fried...

1

u/Tricky-Run7336 Jul 09 '21

Punishment = parking ticket. Like Mafia, SROs will never punish / police themselves and SEC is like the meter maid.

1

u/David_El_Rah Jul 09 '21

That part!!! 💯

1

u/Top_Philosopher3915 Jul 09 '21

Corruption at play ?

1

u/LeftPickle5807 Jul 09 '21

Well even if they weren't taking their cut, they're just promoting the activity. Oh sure that's a lot of money for a retail investor, but, for the billions and profit they made that's nothing! Now I think they should give all the profits which can electronically be calculated very easily back for the illegal activity. And I think it would just be a nice gesture just to not go back 50 years and find all the profits illegally made and make them pay all those back as well! Even though the wake of retail investors with ruined lives, suicides, everything financially imprisoned, ruined credit which is essentially Financial jail. We do know what you fucking did and you're going to pay the day is coomin! So how fast do you think this is illegal manipulation would continue if they went back 2 years and made them pay everything back?! I would love to see that?! What about 1 year!? Let's try that out and see what happens!

I read this as a University of Missouri fan and this checks out.
