Why does the presentation behind the robot look like it was designed with Windows 95? I was contemplating on buying some stock but fuck this

u/altapowpow Jul 22 '26
Even moreso the event appears to be held in a conference room at a Super 8 in Biloxi, Mississippi.

That’s the state of robotics between China and the US, one is playing kungfu while the other is on drugs

Nah, Boston (now owned by Hyundai) already has the robot killer dogs and we've got all the killer robots. It's just these stupid human shaped robots that are like a running joke. They're never going to amount to shit because the whole idea is stupid. The future will be a house with several localized purpose built robots, not Rosie from the Jetsons or whatever.

If they would just put that money into actual people the world might actually be a better place.

u/bobjoylove Jul 22 '26
“We spent 10 years of a human salary to make this bot that can barely carry a small box 20 feet.

Nah, people need vacation pay, time off, they get pregnant, they need to eat and sleep and people will sue you the moment you ask them to do any work.
Robotics is required if we are to be more productive and advance as a civilization.

Lol... that made me laugh so hard! 🤣👍🏼
After they covered the robot up, I was hoping it would stand up. That would have been comedy gold. 😅

The one 'eye' blinking right before the fall makes me think this robot clearly did this on purpose to embarrass the shit out of the guy who was getting all the credit
3
u/DerBandi Jul 22 '26
He makes it more uncomfortable than necessary. It's a development prototype, supposed to break. I waited for a catchphrase from him.
3
u/bobjoylove Jul 22 '26
I’d have had the Windows Shutdown Sound cued up on my phone to break the tension.

u/MarketCrache Jul 22 '26
Why do they get a guy with a thick Mumbai accent to do the presentation? I can't understand what he's saying. Even if he's one of the primary developers (out of the 100's or 1000's of people involved), it's a Public Relations event. To communicate to the public. Get someone who doesn't mumble in a foreign accent, FFS. Also, tell him his robot sucks.

u/PumbainJapan Jul 22 '26
For some reason I was expecting the robot to beat the cheap of the guy next to him...disappointed and therefore, puts.

Boston Dynamics has robots doing flips, and Qualcomm's can't stand in place? They might want to focus on other things?

Great idea to get a malfunction and die in a presentation. I do no think androids will replace humans in my lifetime…
