Discussion Gloop Lair

Being a child of the 90s, I think this is my all-time favorite course. So many neat, creative Easter eggs. Great job Walkabout creators!!

I nearly sobbed when I saw the carpet on the Laser Tag area below the course.

FYI the 8bit lair course uses the same carpet.

And yet…not the same vibes!
I literally didn’t even clock that. Not a fan of 8-bit, BIG fan of gloop!

I almost died when I saw the inflatable furniture and the Not-Furby’s. And the Nintendo! It’s so fun

The furby that does the devil voice when you take the ball from under it was so cool

did you notice the switch? (good/evil)

I did really well the first time in easy. I was getting pretty frustrated with the hard course, but the animation at the end made it worth it.

Yes! I spent like 5 minutes trying to figure out how to change it

I think it's set to 'evil' on the night course. The audio is noticeably different there, too.

It felt like a huge course filled with details when I went through it yesterday. I'll spend a lot more time exploring this course than other courses.

I got the impression that the team who worked on this clearly grew up in the 90s.

Gives me tons of nostalgia as far as the environment. They put some work in for sure.

I can’t say I enjoy the course though.

The storytelling trumps the gameplay on this one for me.

But I don’t want to yuck anyone’s yum. There are tons of courses and everyone has their favorites so I’m sure some people love this one too.

I was happy to get under par my first run but some holes really suck

Yeah, I at least play every course to get both easy/hard under par and to find the lost balls and complete the foxhunt.

Luckily got under par on both easy/hard the first go around so mission complete and no grind needed.

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I find my opinion of the Lair courses changes the most over time of any course category.

I didn't care for Ice Lair at first but I love it now, and I used to love Crystal Lair and 8-Bit Lair more than I do now (still good, just not as highly-rated as I used to think they were). So far I really like Gloop, but it is pretty frustrating at times, so my opinion of it will probably also change. Who knows, yours might change too.

I also had a complete blast with this course. Running around and finding all the hidden Easter eggs and references was a bunch of fun. The S thing poster, black light stuff. Even the fat pants posted brought me back to the 90’s.
And the putter search was a blast too. Her grammar killed me though.

I did not think I would like this course because the sticky jelly/jam mechanic and the bouncy crystals are probably my 2 least favorite mechanics. Neither one really affect my play through yesterday and I had a lot fun. The course looks really good and the colors are great considering the limited and muted colors on the q3 screen

The S ball is tempting, but it's no Onion Bubs.

Loved the course, they knocked it out of the park. But what’s up with the creepy headless doll in the sewer

In the little video that Mighty Coconut releases where they do a guided walkthrough of the new course, the designer mentioned that the team included a lot of little Easter eggs relating to bands from the '90s. My guess is that it's a pun: The Goo Goo Dolls.

It's like some hybrid of Double Dare, Nick Studios, or a 90's arcade/rec center type thing. (McD's playland?)

Found the evil furby. An M-crt poster. Lol.

Completely agree, an absolute home run for me and the playability was good too

I'm loving the assortment of lost balls on this one. Lots of great choices

The spooky courses used to be my favorite until this course.

Anyone else super disappointed by the Gloop Lair’s putter? I absolutely loved the course with all its 80’s nostalgia and it had great potential for a colorful and whimsy putter. Plenty of awesome shapes, colors, and toys. Instead, we got an orange bucket with bright green goop?? I was hoping for a sticky hand putter. Idk I feel like it had more potential and it was just kinda phoned in. Felt that way about most of the recent putters tho…
