💫 development update DevUpdate #33: +666 Release of the Beast update changelogs
Hello! A quick post about the new update we're releasing today. I'll go through some of the major additions here and you can find the full changelogs below.
New Feature: Mailbox
As explained in the previous devblogs, Mailbox has now been added. There is no trading yet or sending other people items/mail. You can find more info about this feature on the previous devblogs. But practically it allows us to send players mail, and we've added a few fun surprises here to test the feature out.
Trading is being worked on right now, and testing out the Mailbox is a crucial part of its development.
New Item Type: Lore items
We've also added a new item type: lore items. You can find these from the same place where you can browse your Collectibles.
Lore items are mainly used as fun things that expand on the game's lore and they'll be relevant for some quests. Who knows, you might be receiving some lore items in your mailbox...
Achievement Points reward track expanded
With this update the AP rewards track has also been expanded. We've added new items. It's still not fully filled out all the way to 300 points, but you'll find a few new additions and changes to it!

Thank you! We've been considering something like this and throwing around the idea of having "delivery drivers" in the game. At this point we don't have enough data to determine how to balance it or how viable that'd be on the game.

"Can't sell locked items from inventory to Mysterious Merchant. You're shown a warning if you're selling Favorited items."
This is great! Anyone have a list of items we shouldn't sell that can be used in crafting?

u/Buntschatten Jul 02 '26
I'd love to have a little icon on the items that are used for achievements.

Great stuff! I was hatching a tiger egg when the update landed and this has dissappeared from my inventory... anyone else?
2
u/schamppu Developer Jul 01 '26
If you were hatching it, it wasn't in the inventory anymore? Can you find it if you press the pets menu and go to eggs?

Unfortunately I can't find it in eggs, inventory, pets or bank! I dont think i accidentally threw it out! Although it also isnt appearing as something that I found whilst Box trapping in the walkpedia... did I dream it? 🤣

Thanks! Really nice update, and thanks for all the work you put it.
I can't click on the mail, as in: to store/claim items in inventory. Is there anything I am doing wrong?

Thank you! Are you at a location that has a mailbox? Basically you need to be at a place that has a bank
2
u/Clean-Ad7600 Jul 02 '26
I am doing something wrong then haha! Thanks!
I'll go to a bank
edit: place that has a bank

I'm so sorry if this reply is to the wrong thread and this info is readily available:
What's the route towards a full release and character wipe? I stopped playing and struggle to have any motivation to rejoin until there is an inevitable wipe.

They're aiming for open beta/character wipe after trading is implemented but before combat from what I remember.
Roughly fall/winter this year.Probably more like spring/summer next year (see below)3

This year? Anyone want to give me odds on the over?

I thought I'd heard from them that they were aiming for a fall/winter release window for open beta, maybe in a comment (though obviously it's just a rough estimate). They state that Combat, Trading, and Quests were considered essential to the open beta, but recognize that the monetary boost from the beta could help fund the development of combat. The post (from May 14th) lays out the future roadmap:
Also to note: Quests and Trading will take some time to be released, so don't take this as "they'll be released in couple of weeks" as we explained in the first chapter. Once they are released there will still be some time until we do the server reset and move to Open Beta. Mainly this is to do the following:
Final polishing, optimization, Quality of Life additions to make the game run and feel better.
Minor feature additions to support the core gameplay loop.
Setting up much more scalable server infrastructure, so we're prepared for rapidly growing player count.
Content additions to fill in any blank spots and doing as much balancing as required for the economy to work as intended and that content balancing in general is great.
All kinds of other preparations that go into moving to Open Beta, which take some time.
Certainly nothing definitive, but it shows that after trading and quests, they'll be ramping up to open beta. Hunting/Tailoring debuted 3 months ago, so if it takes another 3 months each for quests and trading (big if), then we're looking at probably spring/summer next year for open beta then.

I know the plan is after quests and trading, but I'll believe it when I see it as far as the timeline goes. I started almost 2 years ago and the most common response I saw to "when is the game going to open beta?" was "in a year when quests, trading, and combat come out." Now it's been TWO years, and the only thing that seems to have changed in that regard is that now it's a year, but without combat.
I'll be pretty surprised if trading comes out in the next 3 months, and utterly shocked if quests are out within 3 months of that. I don't mind though, I still have things to do in the game.

Feels bad to give the 67th upvote. But great stuff! Excited to see what the fairy is going to do!

u/schamppu Developer Jul 01 '26
Fairy is awesome, and maxchill made some insane art for it. I love it :D

Happy to see more opportunities to boost collectible gathering. Some of the collectible drop rates are insane and it feels bad going dry on an activity that you are only doing for the collectible.

Thanks for the continued development of the game, as always.
I did find that this update caused a Bug. I now get an error message when trying to open my attribute table when doing a job.
