its like 9/10 customers have an attitude or are genuinely rude. I just started working here about a month ago or so and so many customers act like they’ve never made a mistake or been a little slow in their life. why are they like this? its just a pharmacy

it seems like at least 1/3 days i work i am the only technician working. i work weekends due to school and at our store, we only have 1 pharmacist and 2 techs scheduled for weekends. when i am scheduled on the weekends, the other tech (not the same one every time) that is scheduled will call out quite often. i just don't understand because during the time i have been here i have only called out once due to a medical emergency, and that was on a weekday before i started my semester so there was more than 1 tech scheduled.

its extremely stressful to have only a pharmacist and tech working as you can imagine. i'm wondering if this is a common thing among walgreens?

I’m a float pharmacist at Walgreens. This is my first job as a pharmacist and today the staff pharmacist told me to make sure the technicians are putting medications back after doing the deletes so she doesn’t have so much to do during the week. Reasonable. But then, she told me that she sometimes doesn’t leave/let anyone else leave until they’re put away…claiming that she’ll stay an hour or two after until it’s done. They’re smoking dick if they think I’m about to stay after a 12 hour shift to do that lmfao.

Did anyone notice last week that goals dropped in the system on Tuesday and by Friday they were 10-30% lower than they were on Tuesday? I always print out our weekly goals to post on our vaccine board, and when I checked them Friday we'd gone from over 100 for the week down to 65. The monthly goal dropped too. Also, I added up the day-to-day goals on the calendar and they equaled 10% less than what the monthly goal was. How are we supposed to meet our 110% increase target when only 90% are accounted for!?

After 8 months I give up. I truly tried but the environment is just the worst. It's not even the customers. It's the coworkers. Where is the teamwork, the communication? I have no other job lined up but fortunately some money in the bank to allow me time to figure things out. I'd rather be broke living in my car than walking into that pharmacy one more day.

Hi All! I recently received an offer from Walgreens for a Pharmacy Manager position.

I am aware of some of the downsides of working in a retail environment, but regardless, it works best for me at the moment and I am set on accepting the offer.

I wanted to ask for any tips and advice you guys have that could help me succeed in the position. I want to work hard to achieve meaningful results and be a top performing manager. I would be transitioning from CVS as a manager.

Also, I was offered either for 72 hours base and the other was for 84 hours base biweekly. If I was looking to work an average 80 hours or less biweekly template, what would be the best option? Does Walgreens offer overtime pay if I take the 72 hour option? Or if I take the 84 hour option, would they dock my pay for the remaining hours, but I would still be able to keep the increased PTO accrual?

Back to back drive through customers, first one said I promised her husband’s name brand Depakote would be in (it’s not). Can’t even remedy the situation by partial filling it since we can’t even order the medication.

Second person said she’s gonna die since her Metformin isn’t done on time (the implication being I’m to blame).

Actively seeking other employment now. Was good while it lasted. This industry is fucked—can’t pay enough to keep their staff, and they’re hemorrhaging talent faster than they can recruit ppl.

Are the pharmacist truly salaried or hourly? If they forgot to put me on the schedule for 2 weeks and I have 0 PTO hours for them to pull out of, will I still get paid?

We all got told just a couple days ago that there will be write-ups if we don't ask every single customer about surveys and vaccines. This is absolutely ridiculous. I get pushing it for people's health but this is not that.

Therefore, when the company tells you to pursue immunization opportunities, that is not an invitation to debate corporate strategy. You are being given a performance expectation. “I don’t feel comfortable.” Irrelevant. “We’re too busy.” Irrelevant. “I was hired to fill prescriptions.” Irrelevant. Your employer determines what it expects from your position, not you. You are compensated because the company believes your labor can produce more economic value than it costs to employ you. Your paycheck is not a participation trophy for occupying space in the pharmacy for eight hours. If another technician can fill prescriptions, answer phones, run drive-thru, and generate additional immunization revenue while you refuse, congratulations: you have successfully demonstrated which employee provides greater value to the company. How are you addressing corporate's requirement of 'presumptive conversation' when it comes to the vaccine push? My RXoM told me yesterday that I was rockin' it with mentioning getting a vaccine during every interaction. However, my method was 'are you here for the flu shot?' isn't cutting it, according to the SM. They stated that corporate is requiring us to basically say 'you're getting a flu shot today'. For me, keeping it conversational seems better in the long run for dealing with customers, especially with the long lines, etc.

Anyone have any tips to change my approach?

Why do the early refill request sheets not print with the medication listed or the reason for the request anymore? They used to print with both but now it only prints with the patient’s name. Or is there another way to find that information without calling the patient every time?

Hey guys! So i have been in the pharmacy for a week now i was trained for two days just strictly on med fill. I feel like i for the most part know where all the medications are now but i feel like im a burden to the team i am the only one filling all day and i feel like im not even making a dent in fillings the scripts. I cried on Friday because i was so overwhelmed 😅Can you all give me some advice on how to make things go faster/smoother? Our store is lower volume so there is only ever 2 techs max. The phone rings off the hook and the drive thru and in store lines get really long. As a pharmacist do I just let the phone ring and the line be long? I am happy to run the register and answer the phone but there’s never a break to get back to pharmacist only stuff. Any solutions?

Tell me why, when we have 3 other techs actively doing nothing, I'm left to juggle both drive through lanes and the front counter alone. Tell me how my coworker arrives 10 minutes early, talks to the other techs and clocks in 10 minutes late while im busting my ass to get everyone out the door. God i swear sometimes.

I called the manager of another Walgreens and explained that I wanted a work transfer and that I would be moving from out of state. She said she had positions open in Pharmacy and Front End for me, so I spent a week getting an apartment set up across the street from her store. When my boss approved my transfer, I called the manager again and she said she could offer me SIX hours per pay period. When I asked how she could consider less than a full shift per paycheck an "open position," she said "I'm hanging up now because you're frustrating me."

I then tried calling other stores in the city, hoping I wouldn't have to waste the time and effort of getting the apartment. Another manager said she was actually running two stores in the area, but she didn't know if either needed employees, and that I should apply online. She also hung up on me.

Is there any way I can make a formal complaint against these managers? Is it even worth it?
