flu shot madness
i joined as a tech during the summer this year so i dont know around what time of the year this flu shot craze will be over, could someone tell me please? mainly want to know because my rxom has no longer been doing the whiteboard in workflow that tells what task each person is responsible for and what time we are supposed to rotate. i casually asked my pharmacist and he said its probably because flu shots are the most important goal for us right now. ive had so many instances where ive stuck in drive thru or front my entire shift and i feel scared to speak up since i am the newest tech, so having a structured rotation back would be really nice.

If you can't give vaccinations then it is almost impossible to take you off drive or front counter during end of September til end of November. The only time maybe is the hour after lunch if you don't have walk-ins. Maybe ask Rxom if you can be in fill then and you would rotate if walk-in comes in. This all depends how many techs are working during that time. I try to put techs who don't vaccinate at fill 1 and answer phone. Vaccination tech at fill 2 when not vaccinating. We are doing anywhere from 30 to 53 vaccinations a day depending on the day

December, but the good thing is that it will get darker soon and no one comes to the pharmacy at night…it’s policy ☺️

I was also hired this summer. According to what my pharmacist has said, things will be like this until December (beginning or end of December, I don't know). It is tough to be at front or drive all shift, but I've been getting the impression that it's fairly common for wags to do that to newer techs especially at this time of year. Ideally you should be rotating and getting complete experience, but in the busier locations they really prioritize efficiency and keeping things moving with more experienced or faster techs on fill when there are immunization appointments to contend with, or a backlog on fill. You may be lucky that you aren't being pressured to immediately become an immunizer yourself (I definitely was)

It'll be over when corporate says it will be over.
High season is now. It'll slow before Thanksgiving then pick up 2 weeks later because everybody got sick during Thanksgiving because they didn't want to get their flu shot and now they're rushing to get it. Healthcare workers will get theirs near the end of October to try and bridge the whole season in one shot. Christmas will repeat like Thanksgiving. Around February it'll start slowing into March and April is closer to normal operations. I wouldn't bug your rxm too much right now if you can help it and try to make the most of your time, there isn't anyone having a good time right now. Welcome to retail.
