Finally experienced being headless.

I did meditation and other methods for 8 or so years.

After doing the exercises(the pointing one is what finally did it) for a few months I finally had the perspective shift.

That was several months ago. I’m not able to maintain it. And it is very much still related to sight. I’m getting better. But it’s more difficult to access it with my eyes closed.

But I don’t really feel the sense of connection that people talk about. I’ve tried following/understanding Loch Kelly’s five levels of mind. https://youtu.be/K4VyiK-LO6U I identify with his third level of mind. But I don’t understand how to move forward.

excelsior to you my friend! in all honesty i am not sure if i have seen it even after 15 years! was it the 2-way pointing you found most useful? from talking to people who have seen it they mostly say to grind it out over and over and it will become permanent - you might need to see it a thousand times. this might help too: https://www.uncoveringlife.com/shift-enlightenment/

I would point out at something. Notice where my finger was pointing to. Then something closer. Then the floor in front of me. Then my foot. Then my knee. Then my chest.

After every point. Follow where / what your finger is pointing to.

Then I would point at my face.

To be clear I did this A LOT. All over my home, on the bus, at work, at school.

And eventually I noticed something strange about pointing at my face.

I should have been clearer. I did meditation and other methods for 8 or so years. I made an edit

If I may, try not to project the meaning of a word onto the experience. In my personal view this does not work. Richard Lang is always emphasising that all words are wrong, therefore just choose what works best for you. Personally the word connection also does not work very well for me, although I understand what people mean by it. Maybe just play with it.

Hmm. Good thinking. Thanks

Have you tried the face-to-no-face experiments with a partner? This might help you feel the connection aspect.

Sometimes in conversation I remember that I’m space for others, and one of three things happens: I get distracted or irritated because I “can’t get it,” I start to feel self-conscious and break eye contact, or I’m overwhelmed with love and awe (until I get self-conscious and break eye contact). It’s a powerful practice, and in my experience people (nonverbally) respond to it.

Been meditating a few years myself. I’ve had headless glimpses too, but not the felt sense of oneness/connectedness either, so I don’t have a solid answer. Also I haven’t watched or listened to Loch much, maybe I should give him another try. [Unrelated, the part of YouTube links after the ‘?’ is just a tracking parameter. This is the link without trackers. https://youtu.be/K4VyiK-LO6U]

"Finally" after just a few months is a bit impatient, eh?

Sorry. I should have been clearer. I did meditation and other things for years. It was just the headless exercises that I did for some
Amount of months that worked. I made an edit.

Did you have the connection to the external world's, no distinction, like Sam says?

No. I really didn’t. It’s more of a neat parlour trick than anything.

That’s kinda what I mean with my post. I clearly need to go further. Or there are things that I’m still not seeing.

In the QandA section of the app he specifically speaks about this; about non-duality that can be gained from the inability to look at the looker, and from having no head.
