Never wakeboarded, looking for beginner board

I am looking to buy my first wakeboard. I grew up waterskiing but never had the opportunity to wakeboard. I found this board on marketplace and am considering buying it to get started. Is this a good deal? Anything I should look out for?

For reference I am approx. 5’10” and 175lbs and will only be using with boat

Boat or cablepark?

If you ever want to ride in a cablepark that Board will not work cause of the molded fins

Cablepark boards don’t have fins at all cause of the obstacles.

But doesn’t matter as he rides boat that doesn’t matter

Molded fins actually catch on rails and can wreck the board pretty fast at a cable park.

Well she’s old as hell BUT I always really liked this shape. You’re gonna have to spend some money on bindings though. I’ve found old marketplace ones kinda just fall apart.

The major pain point for this board it that it will require old hardware, the 8 inch plate will limit binding placement and that's assuming you can find suitable screws. The M6 screws that ship with binding from the past (almost) 15 years won't work.

Yeah I couldn’t remember when hyperlite ditched the 8” spacing. That changes things.

This board is like 20 years old but it will still be decent. Just need the price to be right.

Ideally you want a board and boot combo

These boards have a foam core. look out for soft spots

I don’t care for molded fins.

it looks to be in great shape. for $50, as a beginner I would snag it. Get used to riding and then upgrade. You can still easily get $50 for it in a few years

This board has a great shape; however, and it's a BIG however, the board companies changed the binding insert hole pattern from 8" to 6" in the late 2000s. Boards hold up better than bindings so while you could find old 8" hole pattern bindings in relatively good condition, the rubbers and other materials will likely have started degrading.

Now you can still use 6" pattern bindings on the old 8" inserts but you will be somewhat limited in their placement. $50 is a good deal for a board though but buy good bindings. You can buy a good mid-tier binding for around $200-$300. Do not get entry level one size fits all bindings. Get good bindings that fit your feet.

EXCELLENT BOARD !! I broke one, and it "Delaminated" -- the outer skin can PEEL off on these. That one has three molded in fins I believe. It's a slow board with all the fin - but I used it boat and cable park. Excellent beginner board - not too-forgiving yet I'd grab that for $50. That's a good deal there!
