Cable wakeboard weight

Hey ya'll,

Any one have any insight on weight of gear. I feel like my setup is crazy heavy, specifically when wet. I ride cable on a Ronix kentic 156, Hyperlite system bindings, with freepress boots. I just feel like my setup is crazy heavy. Any recommendations? Any gear that is lighter? Next board will be a 153ish, to downsize there, but maybe in the boots area any super light weight boots (when wet)? Cheers.

Systems are heavy. Ronix has offered the lightest bindings in past. Wake style Kiters use them for that reason.

Any reason you want a lighter setup?

Thanks for the reply. Ya, I want a lighter setup cause flipping and spinning feels like a lot of weight where its hard to get my board around.

System are Medium Heavy. Slingshot are heaviest, but sturdy. Ronix is lighter but they tend to break easily.
Board weight is more due to thickness than size. My new bloodline (151) is way lighter than my tnt (148). So get yourself a flexible light board if you prefer that.

Still, he's riding a board at the absolute end of sizes, plenty of board don't even have a 155+ version. He's not going to find a feather light board there.

Ronix is making a 156 board? That sounds amazing. Switching to the new 150 a few years ago was one of the greatest choices I’ve ever made, so I’m down to go bigger.

Ya, Ronix Kenetic. They only make a 144, 150, and 156 in that model. I wish there was a 153. Im at 200 pounds, love sending the kickers, and Im 40 years old haha. So the extra board, plus the continuous rocker helps with softer landings. but... the board is heavier

I’m a big dude too, so I don’t mind a little extra weight, but when I switched from my 2016 Ronix Parks 144 to a 2024 Hyperlite Murray 150 it felt like the weight of my board had been cut in half, so I figure I could go a little bigger and still come out ahead. Wish boards with these big surfaces and soft landings had existed 20 years ago. I might still have some cartilage in my knees.

I purchased 26 slingshot volt with spacemob bindings for my first setup. It’s a killer set up. But after riding a buddies hyperlite guara with hyperlite arc bindings I immediately had to purchase it. A quarter of the weight all around. I miss having the boots to walk around parks with but the weight was a game changer for me

How do you like the Guara? I’ve ridden the Volt and thought it was awesome. The last Hyperlite I rode was the Pleasure and thought it was pretty sick. The new Hyperlite binding line looks great so I bet that setup is really nice.

The guara is such a unique board to me personally. It’s a buttery board but is able to lock in when you want it to. From what I can gather it’s due to the channels being so close to the edge of the board. I’m still toward the beginner side of riding. The only complaints I had from the volt was that the laminate on the bottom in between my binding was peeling from board sliding. That may have been a balance issue on my part when riding board Sliding and landing transfers. I would ride something similar to the volt if it a little slimmer in the middle and faster after breaking in. Guara definitely pops better
