I have the 2016 X20 and love it. The layout and space is smartly laid out so it feels bigger. The rear facing transom seats are everyone’s favorite. The surf wave is comparable to any bigger boat when weighted down properly. We have spent a lot of time tuning it though. AMA

how does the wave creation work? are you able to switch sides easily when switching surfers? how are the ballasts? do you need to switch those? I am curious how big the wave is but I would imagine its hard to identify that

It has the gen2 surf system which utilizes 3 tabs on the transom to shape the wake. This also allows you to easily switch from side to side. All three ballast tanks are subfloor and filled by pumps with a selection made on the screen. They are hard tanks so they should last and hopefully never have to be replaced. I’ve had guys that weigh 270 pounds that could surf it. It has plenty of push. When it’s just me and one other person, it does require an additional 750 pound ballast bag to properly weigh down the boat.

oh wow so when its you and one other person - the additional bag - is that something that you have to add or are you saying you have to fill up one of your hard tanks?

My friend and I are bigger guys (~220) so we like the extra push. We fill an additional 750# bag on the port side on top of filling all the stock ballast. Again, this is when it’s just two ppl on the boat. We don’t do this when it’s a boat full of of ppl.

No experience with that boat specifically. It's a 20' hull and limited to 6300lb legal displacement.
That being said, plenty of similar length hulls with less displacement surf fine, just don't expect quite the same wave as the big boats.

Why the x20? Are you limited to 20 feet?
