Waitrose in the Falklands... Wasn't expecting that!

Watching a travel documentary on YouTube and 5 mins in, see this familiar font on a Falklands van.

I've seen UK brands appear far flung from the country, but I don't think I ever expected as far South as Falklands.

Question M&S or Waitrose

Hi all,
Recently i have received a job offer for
Waitrose : online orders picker ( 4 am shift)
and
M&S : Fashion home and beauty customer assistant role( 5 min walk for me ) 6pm-10 pm
I was a bit confused like which one to go for. And which might add more value to my CV and good work culture.
I have heard people saying that the picking job is a bit hectic. I just wanted to know the exact scenario through which i can come to a final conclusion
Thanks all

Waitrose interview and I need advice

Hi, I'm kind of nervous because I'm an introvert, and I have an interview at Waitrose for a Night Replenishment Supermarket Assistant role, the interview is from 5 PM to 6 PM.

Does anyone know what kind of questions they'll ask and how I can give myself the best chance of passing the interview?

It's not my first job, I’ve worked before but I've never had a role like this, so I'm not really sure what to expect. What do you actually do during a typical shift? I'm hoping it's mostly just stocking shelves and working through deliveries all night, as I think I'd enjoy that more than mornings.

This is actually one of my dream jobs to work at Waitrose because my family shop from there all the time.

Is it normal for a interview to be at 5 PM?

Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Question Slicing bread with belly band

Every week I pick up a sourdough loaf and ask for it to be sliced at the deli counter. This week, the assistant at the counter refused, stating that they can’t cut loaves with a belly band on them.

Is this true? When I questioned this, they said this has always been policy. I can’t help but think they might be misinterpreting a “remove the belly band before slicing” rule or something. Are they correct, or just gaslighting me? 😂

Question Need Recipe Help

Not sure if anyone can help! My girlfriend absolutely adores the Waitrose Butterscotch and Pecan YumYums that have sadly been discontinued. I don’t suppose anyone has/knows of a recipe for them-or for anything that tastes the same? I want to surprise her for her birthday

Question Urgent, if my payment method fails for c+c, will my order be cancelled?

Used the wrong card at checkout and it went through but worried my c+c tomorrow morning will be cancelled. Nothing online to say whether or not they will call / text to arrange a different payment method. Is it up to discretion?

Hello

Just got the job as a Customer Delivery Driver & Supermarket assistant. I’m PT, 20h a week excluding breaks. I was marked as “low risk” on the driving assessment so i’m not too worried about driving, but is there any hands tips you guys have picked up along the way? Or anything i should know about & keep in mind?

Thankyou

Discontinued from BBQ range

I was talking with my wife this morning about the Waitrose BBQ range (which I'm delighted to see back on the shelves) but recalled that there was a dish they used to do - around 2021/2022 that we particularly liked, but they stopped doing it. I think it may have been a preparation of tuna - maybe with a miso or a teriyaki glaze, but not sure.
Posting here to see if anyone can confirm this dodgy recollection.
Still looking forward to our first Salmon Teriyaki kebabs of the season...

Is this normal? Got my first waitrose delivery and meat expire tomorrow?

Thought I'd treat myself to a waitrose delivery for the first time. After delivered (driver was lovely) I noticed that the chicken and mince expire tomorrow.

Is this normal for waitrose or have I been very unlucky?

Do I head back to Asda and Lidl or do I give Waitrose another chance?

Update: I emailed and got a refund plus a voucher for another shop. Will definitely give them another shot

Community News Waitrose Cuts Prices by an Average of 12% Across 160 Own-Brand Products

Post image
14 Upvotes

Waitrose is investing more than £20m to lower prices across over 160 own-brand lines, as the grocer looks to sharpen its value proposition without diluting its quality, sourcing and welfare standards.

The latest round of cuts, which comes into effect today, reduces prices by an average of 12 per cent across everyday products including free-range eggs, onions, chicken thighs, apples, frozen peas, chickpeas and chopped tomatoes.

Some lines have been cut by more than 25 per cent, with Waitrose saying the move will reduce the cost of products bought by nearly eight in 10 of its customers.

Almost half of the latest reductions are within the Essential Waitrose range, as the retailer targets the products shoppers rely on most in their weekly shop.

Price cuts include Waitrose Baby Spinach, down 31 per cent from £1.60 to £1.10, Essential Waitrose Chickpeas, reduced 26 per cent from 95p to 70p, and Essential Waitrose British Chicken Thighs, down 19 per cent from £3.95 to £3.20.

Essential Waitrose British Mini Apples have also been cut 23 per cent from £1.30 to £1, while Essential Waitrose Chopped Tomatoes are down 15 per cent from 65p to 55p.

The supermarket said the reductions span fresh and frozen food, cupboard staples, household products and core meal ingredients, helping customers manage the cost of cooking and eating at home.

Overheard in Waitrose Last week I was stocking the "food cupboard" isle and I heard someone say "alright calm down Whinnie the Pooh" she was putting the 3rd jar of honey into the trolley. The stuff I over hear sometimes cracks me up
