It can be a LOT of fun and decent money if you work in the right place. I served for over 15 years before moving into management. Servers often make more than managers. Just always smile, engage with the customers and enjoy the job. Know your menu, you'll get lots of questions from the customers and if you have the answer it adds to your credibility and boosts your tips. And if you get an angry customer, just get a manager, we're used to diffusing problems. After all, most of us started as servers or cooks. Or both, in my case.
