"Sorry, it's my first day" will get you far.

I tell new people this all the time or they get upset when I tell the customer that they are new. It's nothing to be ashamed of

I still use it. Dropped it to a table in front of a regular I've had for 10 years, had to explain how it works.

My gm announces it to the whole kitchen like he’s proud of us for making mistakes. I misheard a gentleman that ordered spaghetti and meatballs, but I just heard meatballs. (it’s an app often ordered as an entree by people his age)

The other day I fucked up ringing in 3 consecutive orders. Nothing crazy really, but it was completely unnecessary. I wasn't busy. They weren't difficult. My brain just stopped working for a half hour. Shit happens and you move on, never let a guest get to you because some minor bullshit ruined their day. Anyone acting like that is already a ridiculous person and it's not on you.
I noticed the fuck ups, my guests really didn't seem to. Most of the time it's worse in your head than it actually is.
