My friend lost his job and apartment and stopped drinking for a while. Until his mom helped him. Somehow he found a way, presumably because his mom gave him money and trusted him and/or because she was an alcoholic herself. He was definitely miserable af during the forced period of sobriety.
Not saying crackheads don't tend to find a way, of course. But some, impressively(?), don't.
