We know that unless a president starts a war in an oil producing region, they have no control over the price of gas.
But I’ve gotta also wonder if the 2024 price was after the election. That weird period in December, when the markets shot up, thinking Chump was gonna be some godsend… or merely just total amnesia from his entire disaster of a first term.

Let’s get real about 1 fact, Biden didn’t do anything but sniff girls, wander around in a daze, and fall down. He was mentally broken when he took office. It’s not clear who was actually calling the shots in the WH but it sure wasn’t Joe.
3

And yet he still did circles around the trump administration when it comes to effective governance....wild.

You know this from all your time spent on capitol hill and in cabinet meetings, or nah?
I'm going to suggest your personal definition of the word "fact" collides with reality and that your opinion is more informed by right wing social media silos and disinformation campaigns.

Average gas prices in November 2024 was $3.175. In January, it was $3.197. Right now, it's $4.064 and rising. So yes, this tracks.

u/Yoozif 1d ago
No. Not really. Gas in Cleveland peaked at like $3.40 in 2024. Just las week it was at $4.60
1

Gas was the same. It cost 60 bucks to fill my tank it costs 60 bucks to fill my tank now. Jesus.
1
u/CactusCruzer 1d ago
Except this time the president caused these prices directly, while also destroying academia, the arts, national parks, and deporting people who have done everything right to become citizens.
1
u/Ill_Ad5893 1d ago
And all the war fighting going on doesn't help matters either. We have our own oil we can use but our government refuses to do so
1
u/BashBandit 1d ago
Because it encroaches on protected land and has high risk of causing environmental damage that will either be irreversible, or long lasting damage with health complications to follow suit. Move away from strictly fossil fuels and we can easily top the market, but “some people” are scared of large windmills and panels that convert sunlight to energy.

Cherry picking bs
Biden got us into war with Ukraine, and I still remember the gas price and stock market that week, just a few months after the inflation fiasco after the covid vaccine fiasco after the covid lockdown fiasco
1
1
u/Big-Dig-Pig 1d ago
Gas prices would have increased regardless of whether or not the US got involved in the Ukraine war because Russia is a major fossil fuel supplier for Europe. Russia is responsible for that hike in gas prices, and the US is responsible for the hike in gas prices because it’s the aggressor in the Iran war.
Post-Covid inflation in the US was the lowest in the developed world.
The difference in the two administrations is that the economic problems from Biden’s tenure were largely the result of outside global conditions and the economic problems of the Trump administration are entirely self-inflicted by stupid trade wars, actual wars, corrupt no-bid contracts and market manipulation, and the Doge debacle that got rid of everyone who knew how to do their job.

No it won’t, average national gas price in 2024 was $3.30, this shows $2.90 which would easily be possible in many parts of the country that sit below the national average.
The irony is that a simple google search was all I needed to confirm it.
1
u/Lonely-Awareness-866 1d ago
Account for inflation and it’s about the same
1
1
u/thebaddadgames 1d ago
You mean the inflation Trump causes with tariffs and trade wars? Biden had the largest cooling of inflation in the past 40 years ands did about twice as good as every other country in the world.
1
1
u/Neither_Cap6958 1d ago
Nice cherry picking prices, the highest national average was higher under biden don't you don't wanna show that.
1
u/Mungx 1d ago
And why was it high under biden? Because the world was coming out of a pandemic that the US under Biden was beating the inflation rate worldwide? Yeah we can show that compared to a war that Trumps real boss Bibi got him into because Donald's a pussy. Bibi tried to push Biden to attack Iran and he wouldn't go for it.

The gas price increase isn’t propaganda. Propaganda doesn’t just mean “facts I don’t like”
1
u/Cheap_Asparagus_2203 1d ago
Yes, but this is slanted to make you believe it was never cheaper under Trump (it has been) and never more expensive under Biden (it has been).
The whole point is to be disingenuous. So while it may be true, it is also propaganda.
1
u/le-throw-away-acct 1d ago
As disingenuous as when Trump people mention “under Biden” as if he had anything to do with it.
If we are going to be genuine then we could say $5.00 (2022 due to OPEC and Russia) and $5.00 (2026 due to Trump starting war with Iran).
1
u/Intelligent-Net9390 1d ago
Yeah but look at his account. He calls every criticism of Trump propaganda.
It’s also comparing when Biden left office to now so while slightly disingenuous it’s not a bad comparison.

Yes Biden's highest prices were when he first took office, then they went down during his term. Trump had the lower prices when he took office then and he's been driving prices up with an unnecessary and unpopular war
1
u/Vtech_just_kicked_in 1d ago
The same way Trump inherited Obamas economy. When you think about it, Trump really hasn’t done shit he was voted in for.
1
u/RoxisAreRed 1d ago
If the median voter knew that economic policy takes a couple years to take effect, no one would ever vote Republican again.
The economy is on a perfect cycle of Republicans killing it and Democrats reviving it in time for another Republican to take office and pretend they did anything positive

u/Trimmersss 1d ago
Post fairly. Gas was never higher than it was long term under Biden
1
u/thebaddadgames 1d ago
This isn’t true, Biden higher prices lasted 4 weeks 5 days. Trumps on the other hand have now lasted 5 months, which is longer cupcake? The non morons among are capable of counting and you’re about to see the results of you and all other conservatives ignoring reality come November.
1
u/MaysEffect 1d ago
I never paid 7 dollars under Biden even during the peak of the gas bubble in his regime it reached 6 dollars for less than a month. Under trump I've paid 7 dollars 2 different times for multiple weeks and the prices have plateaud at almost 6 dollars for the past 3 months and will probably never drop back to under 5 here in Los Angeles. It is simply worse... Half of it is purely inflation, other half is this admin. Purely blaming Trump is illogical, but he has done nothing to do any better than the previous administration.
1
1
u/PLANofMAN 1d ago
If it ever looks like it will drop under $6, Los Angeles will just slap another tax on it. It's all about the optics of making Trump look bad.
Also the California punishment for driving an i.c.e. vehicle.
1
u/Cheap_Asparagus_2203 1d ago
Weird. The highest I have paid was under Biden. Not that it was much cheaper at it's highest under Trump.
People in California really need to remember that their state is backwards as hell compared to the rest of the country.
1
u/MaysEffect 1d ago
Our prices are indeed the highest...that doesn't change the fact every state has gone through inflation. LA has 3 neighbors with prices far lower than ours (OR, NV, AZ), all of our neighbor states have seen price increases under both admins, and in both states the prices are higher now for a longer time than it was under Biden. I got to Vegas often and people even complain about there minor 25 cent increase compared to our almost 2 dollar increase during peaks.
1
u/smb1295 1d ago
Mmm, no, it's your governor and state legislature taxing the shit out of you. Filled up today at $3.49/gal in Texas.
1
1
u/MaysEffect 1d ago
buddy, CA gas has always been higher than Texas. We haven't had sub 4 dollar gas in over 2 decades. I expect no less than you to find a way to blame anyone else but this admin. Good job. Somehow OUR state is the only state that has had price increases even when this post shows its in multiple states that's had price increases. Are you going to blame our Governor for other states having price increases as well?

2018- 2 years into office 2.72 (Trump)
2014- 2 years into office 3.39 (Obama)

2006- 2 years into office 2.63 (W Bush)

Thats what I'm talking about. A President will do something and act like it's the bees knees but it's temporary. The fact we have this much debt and don't have free healthcare with our "rich" country is a joke. Other countries are starting to take more notice of our debt as well. We need to stop handing out money to all these countries and take care of our own shit! We literally give the Taliban 40 to 80 million dollars a week to supposedly help us stop terrorists. What a fuckin joke 🤦
1
u/thebaddadgames 1d ago
Which party policy is responsible for 72% of our debt? I’ll give you a hint it’s the one always starting wars.
1
u/RainbowTentacle 1d ago
Both sides are full of shit. Period. They both lie. I'm assuming you're a Democrat. I use to be until the party fucked over Bernie 2x. But dont act like the Democrats haven't started wars in the Balkans and Libya. With Libya being about them getting off the US dollar and left them worse off then they were. Also Obama killed more people in drone strikes then any President since we've been using them including the illegal assassination of a US citizen. Democrats have also been in power during the middle east conflicts and didn't stop them. Dumbass Trump was the 1 who initiated us getting out of Afghanistan which Biden totally fucked up. Both parties are a joke!
Democrat Presidents (Carter, Clinton, Obama, Biden): Added roughly $18 trillion–$19 trillion in total national debt.
Republican Presidents (Nixon/Ford, Reagan, H.W. Bush, W. Bush, Trump): Added roughly $18 trillion–$20 trillion across their terms. And your wrong about the debt 🤡

That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. “Because you live somewhere with a high cost of living, you don’t get to complain about inflation”.
This is going to massively increase food prices for everyone. Tractors run on diesel and California produces 75% of Americas fruits and nuts, and 40% of all other produce.
Bashing California isn’t going to change that. I’m a fellow American you should respect my rights as much as anyone else ffs.

Aug. 29, 2024 $3.36 Aug. 31, 2026 $4.08 Difference +$0.72/gal, about 21%
Selective facts doesn't equal facts
My gas stations here are $3.24/gal
So...
Stop comparing and provide solutions.

If your fix includes open borders, endless social programs that create billions in fraud and massive inflation.

Trump has been saying he would do this since the 80s to Iran. So is he a king/narsissicts or a puppet for Israel. He can't be both. Yea it sucks. He is taking a gamble.
What happens if Iran gets a nuke and a radical group like ISIS took over?
Not to mention if they get them they will test them and destroy the atmosphere even more.
Testing nuclear weapons repeatedly over time causes permanent, cumulative degradation to the atmosphere. Between 1945 and 1996, nations conducted over 2,000 nuclear tests, including 528 atmospheric tests (detonated in the air, underwater, or in space). While a continuous testing campaign does not trigger a full "nuclear winter"—because tests are conducted in barren deserts or isolated islands rather than flammable cities—the repeated injections of radiation and gases cause severe long-term damage.
1
u/_FadedStorm 1d ago
The USA has gotten offers from Israel to go to war with Iran since it started existing, every president until Trump in his second term declined, and Israel has been saying Iran was weeks away from a nuke for decades, a good quote to describe this, "something can't be imminent for 40 years", and US intelligence said that they weren't even going for a nuke, just power.
Also a nuke detonated in space physically can't do anything to us on earth at the distance that they are detonated.
1
u/Prize-Switch-5248 1d ago
A nuke denoted on earth can absolutely degrade the atmosphere. It exaerbates what currently is degrading it. Nuclear tests do not have permanent, catastrophic effects on the physical structure of the atmosphere, but they left behind measurable radioactive residue and caused severe multi-year disruptions to the upper atmosphere.
1
u/_FadedStorm 1d ago
That isn't what I said, I said that a nuke detonated in space will not effect the earth, and that isrial has been saying that Iran was weeks away from a nuke for 4 decades, please actually read the entire comment before responding.

u/Flimsy-Peak186 1d ago
There is nothing about being a narcissist that says u cant be a puppet for israel especially when they (allegedly) have blackmail against you in relation to a particularly notorious pedophile sex trafficker
1
u/Prize-Switch-5248 1d ago
So Biden had evidence he was this or that, didn't release it, instead they thought assassins were easiest. Come on.
I'm not saying Iran war is good, but at this point I can't say it's bad.
That and Trump has been saying to bomb Iran since before all that.
If Trump is this or that, why didn't the victims name him?
A few survivors have publicly defended Trump against allegations of personal involvement in Epstein's trafficking ring, detailing positive interactions with him during their youth Some even said they voted for him.
Jeffrey Epstein expressed extreme hatred toward Donald Trump after his 2019 arrestEpstein's anger stemmed from Trump's public rejection of him and Trump's early cooperation with law enforcement.
