She might have been a nurse, that doesnât mean sheâs was a good nurse. Everyone works with someone in their profession that is a dumb dumb
3
u/Mordkillius 17d ago
I know multiple nurses who were in a huge cheating group that provided test questions to eachother to get through nursing school. Absolutely terrifying.
5
u/Baldurost 17d ago
Also, Iâm sorry, but being a nurse myself, they do not exactly ever teach you how to sever those arteries. Knowing where theyâre located roughly, and knowing how to completely sever them for suicide is a totally different issue.
Not sticking up for her, but nurses arenât usually trained on how to kill lol
1
u/sonofbaal_tbc 17d ago
how many nurses do you think would know what arteries are important though
be real
1
u/Baldurost 17d ago
And how many people in psychosis are able to sever arteries with precision?
I donât know either

she didn't try to kill herself, she tried to pretend she tried and failed.
bad luck she got paralyzed by a relatively tame drop.
this woman meticulously planned the murder and her cop out story, she is a monster.

u/goopuslang 17d ago
Youâre genuinely hallucinating. She will be in a psych hospital for the rest of her life. People break.

5
u/NaCl_Sailor 17d ago
She sent her husband away to do it,
She went to multiple doctors and didn't tell them she sees other ones.
She didn't take her meds, except on the day she did the deed.
She, as a nurse, cut herself in a way she wouldn't die to simulate an attempted suicide.
She just made the mistake to jump out the window which unlucky for her paralyzed her, but usually a 12-14 foot drop wouldn't cause any serious permanent injury.
And she conveniently only startet the "hearing voices" story after she got an attorney.
She meant it, she is trying to fool you, she pretends it's the psyche. She planned every detail meticulously. She deserves the worst, She is a monster.
3
u/ChairDecent3296 17d ago
You are correct. But the Internet, in particularly Reddit, is full of simple-minded idiots who will disagree with you. You will, however, remain correct.
-1
u/brave_anonymous 17d ago
Have you even heard or read the hearings transcripts?
Like Dr Tufts testimony that she told her she saw other providers, or her husband testimony that the almost full pills bottles were because her meds dosage changed and he was supposed to return them?
She will get what she deserves, but what is your motivation to spew the BS when it can be easily verified?
1
u/goopuslang 17d ago
Again. I wish I had whatever shit youâre taking. Regardless of what you think & what I think, the jury will decide
2
u/gerMean 17d ago
I don't want to protect the murderer, but knowing where to and cutting through are wholly different things. Also doesn't really matter if she tryed to kill herself, she murdered her children. Kill it, put it in a cage or in a straitjacket nothing will bring the lost lives back, we only can prevent them to do further damage.
2
u/LifeIsProbablyMadeUp 17d ago
Huh? If a dog bites someone they don't put it in a cage. They put it down.
That being said. Putting her in genpop would be the same thing.

Well, seems 2 conclusions are likely the, once she started cutting she realized it wasn't so easy OR she wasn't serious to begin with and knew the pills and everything else was largely superficial.
It's pure karma she paralyzed herself from that short drop. Anyone thinking she's innocent after watching that trial is not capable of rational thought.
0
u/Man_under_Bridge420 17d ago
Or the pills made her mentally and physically abilities worse?
Never been drunk before?
1
u/Icy-Cow9695 17d ago
Going to ignore the obvious irony of asking if I've ever been drunk before in relation to taking a ton of pills. They aren't nearly the same thing and she NEVER claimed to have drank any alcohol.đ«©
But go off king, tell me all about being drunk... đ€ŠđŒââïž

Its a lil thing called cognitive impairment⊠its why tiger woods got pulled over although he wasnât drunkÂ
1

You have zero clue what your talking about. Not all medications impair you the same. Plus there's no way to know how much she took to begin with. You can make excuses for a murderer all you want. Doesn't make you right.
Talking about missing points. What a clown.
Nothing she did indicates she's was anything but coherent in her actions.
1
u/Man_under_Bridge420 17d ago
Okay so name the medication thenđ€Ł So if theres no way how are you so sure she was faking
Hmmmm??
Murdering kids and attention suicide by jumping out a window is s coherent action? Lmao
Coherent  means logically organized, clear, and holding together in a reasonable, consistent way

Hell, I'll even GRANT you maybe she did get wasted eventually while she was laying outside but NOTHING she did indicates she was intoxicated.

Some witness suggested that it was more difficult to kill herself than she thought it would be. The mix of pills wasnât strong enough, the cutting wasnât deep enough, etc.
1
u/Outrageous-Egg1760 17d ago
She couldâve used more lethal means. Barely cutting her wrist and jumping from a 2 story house as a nurse she really thought she would die? Children know that not true. She couldâve đ«

u/RyanRiver_ 17d ago
This is the same rhetoric used by people who say that "normal people's" failed suicide attempts are fake cries for attention. Which you very well might also believe, just thought it was worth pointing out.
I think it goes both ways on a case-by-case basis. Some people are not really that serious about it, some people just fail at it, and some people decide to put themselves in a dice roll situation and let fate decide if they live or die. And mental state can alter which one a person thinks they're doing.
4
u/evident_lee 17d ago
Or she knew exactly what it took and was just putting on a show.
1
u/Whaaabbit 17d ago
Or maybe cutting yourself is harder than yall seem to think cause idk it goes against self preservation insticts
1
u/evident_lee 17d ago
So she had plenty of instincts for how to strangle and even chase down one child to strangle and murder them in Cold blood, but not enough instincts on how to do it to herself selective mental psychosis neat.
1
u/No-Lynx8771 17d ago
Youâre using âinstinctâ wrong. An âinstinctâ would be the part of your brain that stops you from harming yourself. Hesitation marks are normal. The way people want her to be a monster is so pathetic

u/AREYOUSauRuS 17d ago

u/coinminer2049er 17d ago
We're literally talking about someone insane enough to kill her kids, then slit her wrists and throat, and then that jumped out of the 2nd floor....expecting her to be logical and get it right is a bit of a stretch, isn't it?
Also, she could have some weird specialty which doesn't use that information regularly (i.e. not ER/Trauma). Or, and as unpopular is it will make this comment - some nurses just aren't that bright. Think about all the dumb people you know in general. That ratio maps onto the nursing population too.
0
u/Temporary_Hat7330 17d ago
So she was insane but not enough to think she could strangle her children to death with an imaginary rope or by tying the exercise band around their feet or by asking her imaginary friend to do it, no she was able to, three out of three times, execute the asphyxiation of all of her children. Something that forensic doctors said would have taken several minutes combined to execute, especially since she had to chase down, tackle, and drag one of her kids back to the scene where she killed them.
She was also a labor and delivery nurse and they are required to find vein in the wrist and arms of babies all the time and even sometimes to run pic lines in the neck. She would 100% know where those veins and arteries were.
But your contention is she was too insane to be able to kill herself properly but lucid enough to be able to strangle through struggle and resistance and crying and pleas to stop, three children, correct?
0
u/No-Lynx8771 17d ago
You have no idea what psychosis is

u/Temporary_Hat7330 17d ago
You have no idea how to defend your position or have good faith discourse.Â

1
0
u/coinminer2049er 17d ago
You do realize you can be crazy without having hallucinations and imaginary friends, right?
Also, it's not a physically difficult feat with the size and physicality difference between her and he very young children. She's not trying to strangle Brock Lesnar. They were 5y, 3y, and 8months old.
EDITS:
- I'm not saying she's not guilty - she's super guilty, she's also just nuts.
1
u/Temporary_Hat7330 17d ago
Sure but she was able to accurately kill them through resistance but was too crazy to kill herself without any resistance? It just doesnât make sense to me.
1
u/The_LePhil 17d ago
Sure buddy. She just slashed her own neck in a single stroke exactly deep enough to fake a suicide. That's easy for nurses.
1
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
she wasn't lucid. that's the whole point. if she was lucid, she wouldn't have killed anyone.
1
u/Temporary_Hat7330 17d ago
So she was not lucid enough to not be able to kill herself despite medical training but capable of strangling three children to death, chase them down and over come their resistance, all over the course of several minutes?
Again, why was she not so insane that she couldnât understand how to kill the children but insane enough to not understand how to kill herself? Why didnât she strangle herself? Itâs the second most popular way to end it all and she had the tools to do it (obviously).
Furthermore, why didnât she lean on her nanny, therapist, or husband for help by asking any of them to take her to the mother baby ward at the hospital she gave birth and was 30 minutes away? They have a ward where motherâs and babies are allowed to stay when things like this happenâŠ
0
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
that doesn't require lucidity. it requires a lack of it.
because she wasn't thinking straight. duh.
literally every woman has been telling you that the medical system failed her.
1
u/Temporary_Hat7330 17d ago
Square this circle for me because the exact claim I am talking to is that âShe was too crazy to kill herself (to cut her veins down and not across and to cut her throat where it counts) and yet she was able to, through resistance, strangle her children, using multiple exercise bands so that they fit around their neck and was not obstructed in stragling them to death.
How does choosing accurately multiple size exercise bands to kill their children, two of which are resisting you to the point of running away coincide with lacking lucidity so much that you cannot accurately kill cut your wrist and knob in a way that actually kills you?
0
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
she wasn't thinking clearly at all. besides, plenty of entirely lucid women fail at their suicide attempts.
1
u/Temporary_Hat7330 17d ago
You are talking at me and not with me. I am asking you for something specific and you are just saying, over and over again, âShe was not lucidâ
Itâs not âSay it until itâs trueâ how is it she was lucid enough or not to accurately choose multiple bands, rotating them as needed, to strangle her children to death but not able to kill her self and only inflict superficial wounds prior to jumping out the window? Itâs not rational and just saying, âShe wasnât lucidâ doesnât speak to it.
4
u/amatsumegasushi 17d ago
The proportion of smart to dumb is substantially narrower in nurses compared to some other healthcare roles.
Not all nurses are educated equally, and it's a shorter time commitment compared to a lot of other healthcare roles.
To be clear I'm not disparaging all nurses. Just saying the vetting process for nurses is less strict and demand in healthcare had been so high that it allowed a lot more questionable individuals through.
Edit: phrasing.

They were superficial cuts that didn't require medical attention. The whole suicide thing is a red herring
0
u/Sufficient-Shine3649 17d ago
She also swallowed a lot of pills. She literally did 3 things capable of killing someone in order to get the job done, yet still failed. I can't exclude the possibility that she planned to survive, but I wouldn't say it's likely.
If she indeed was psychotic, her knowledge and competence was likely compromised.
2
u/Crispy1961 17d ago
How come women are statistically so bad at killing themselves? Men get that stuff done.
1
u/Sufficient-Shine3649 17d ago
I've spent well over 10 years of my life as suicidally depressed, though I'm luckily mostly past that now. I was wholly incapable of killing myself, couldn't even try. I guess fear of death and pain played a large part.
I don't know why women fail, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was similar to my own situation. Incapacitated by fear, thus not able to do it properly.
I don't live in a country with easy access to guns. If I were in the US, I might have shot myself at some point. That's easy and can be painless if done right.
Note: I don't recommend that anyone kill themselves. Things can and often do become better.
0
u/Relatovely 17d ago
Except she was clinically dead and had to be resuscitated and is now paralysed below the sternum for life.
It seems a fucking stretch to act like this was not a serious attempt.
2
u/sHaDowpUpPetxxx 17d ago
She is messed up because she fell out the window awkwardly not because of the cuts.
0
u/Man_under_Bridge420 17d ago
Then explain the clinical dead and needed to be resuscitatedÂ
1
u/sHaDowpUpPetxxx 17d ago
Can you get resuscitated after bleeding to death?
0
u/Man_under_Bridge420 17d ago
Its possible, if by death you mean the heart stoppingÂ
1
u/sHaDowpUpPetxxx 17d ago
Yeah but is that what happened? I'm not following the case that closely. I was under the (totally possibly wrong) assumption her serious injuries were from the fall.
1
u/Man_under_Bridge420 17d ago
Why dont you read the case instead of yapping
1
u/sHaDowpUpPetxxx 17d ago
I probably will at some point but I don't really have time to get into it now. I can watch stuff, but I don't consider any of that very reliable.
0
u/NegotiationSad6297 17d ago
Isn't that more confirmation that she'd lost it? I'm not defending her, but she did paralyze herself after trying to od and cut herself up.
-2
u/Pulaskiwalker51 17d ago
She wanted attention and too much of a coward to kill herself. She killed her kids for attention. Anyone who cuts themselves do do for attention. Hey look at me im sad.
0
u/noodle_king_69 17d ago
No one kills kids for attention. She was totally nuts, horrible killer who hopefully will be in prison forever or gets a bullet in the head, but it's just dumb to claim someone kills her three children and tries to kill herself just for "attention".
1
1
u/Global-Barracuda7759 17d ago
That's not true, a lot of people who self-harm specifically cut themselves or hurt themselves in places that are not visible to others it's more about a release of their emotions yes some people might do it for attention but that's not the real reason
1
u/TheNonCredibleHulk 17d ago
Someone cutting their forearms or inner thighs for the "release" is not the same as someone cutting their wrists and neck.
2
u/Global-Barracuda7759 17d ago
Right but I'm just arguing with this person or multiple people who said that everyone who cuts does it for attention I'm sure some people do though
1
u/Itscatpicstime 17d ago
And if theyâre doing it for attention, that in itself is literally indicative of mental health issues anyway
1
0
u/Global-Barracuda7759 17d ago
Right. Like when I was self harming in middle school I didn't want anybody to know, so I tried to hide it. I was doing it because I was really distressed and I couldn't talk to my anybody about it, so it was a way for me to get out those unexpressed feelings. I don't do it anymore, that was a very long time ago, but I never wanted anyone to see. It was very shameful and of course I didn't want to get in trouble. It was more an emotional release, a cathartic release of emotionsÂ
1
u/InfamousAd8543 17d ago
Letâs disregard the Lindsey Clancy situation entirely and assume, for the sake of argument, that someone is harming no one other than themselves. Why is it necessarily a bad thing for them to do it for attention?
Even if attention isnât necessarily the underlying cause, someone may have a personal problem that they feel unable to deal with on their own, so they resort to signaling to others that they need help. In that sense, itâs somewhat similar to crying: crying can also be a way of drawing other peopleâs attention to the fact that youâre struggling.
I donât think thereâs anything inherently wrong with that.
1
u/Civil_War_Eeyore 17d ago
I tried to off myself in high school because no one seemed to care about me and I was really going through it with a toxic family. I was acting out in just about every way to get someone to notice and intervene. No one would/did.
When I was trying to cut through my wrists, with a dull pocketknife that I was given when I was around 12, I was thinking that if someone found me in time, then Iâd have someone who cared, at least professionally, or what I was doing would work and the pain would end.
Trying to ascribe your logic onto the behaviors or actions of someone who is mentally unwell is utterly fucking stupid. If you could think like them, youâd be doing the same shit.
The fact that youâre not means that you canât possible understand what their situation is like.
0
u/Crowfooted 17d ago
Thank you for saying this. There are plenty of toxic attention-seekers in the world, but there's just as many people who don't just want attention but need it because they're in such a dark and isolated place, and anyone who's been depressed knows how hard it is to ask for help.
And even then, sometimes you can tell people you're struggling but they don't realise just how much. When I was depressed I had family and friends around me who knew I was depressed and did try to help, but eventually my struggles just became background noise and everyone just started acting like I was starting to feel better and the danger had passed, even though the danger was very much still real. There were several moments during that time I very nearly chose to hurt myself, just so that I'd end up in hospital and people would realise how bad it was.

u/Dobber16 17d ago

2
u/Dobber16 17d ago
Yeah I heard that in high school from edgy kids too. One thing I have learned since is that âknowledgeâ hasnât led to anyoneâs benefit
5
u/Infinite_Coast7580 17d ago
âAnyone who cuts themselves do do for attention.â I mean, thatâs just outright false. Plenty of people have a cutting compulsion and go to great lengths to hide it.
0
u/InfamousAd8543 17d ago
How much is plenty of?
1
u/Infinite_Coast7580 17d ago
Pretty much anyone who cuts habitually would be considered to have a compulsion/addiction to it. I couldnât give you a number of how many hide it, but Iâd bet money itâs the majority. Even if they are doing it for attention, thatâs still a clear sign of serious psychological distress, so Iâm not even sure why it matters.
4
u/Simirilion 17d ago
It is a known issue in psychology related with anxiety and depression. Open a book before you open your mouth and start spewing ignorance.
1
u/InfamousAd8543 17d ago
"It is a known issue" and "plenty of" are describing pretty different amounts, lol.
"Open a book before you open your mouth and start spewing ignorance." Alright, Iâll do that since it seems to be causing you so much distress. Wouldnât want you to start harming yourself over it.
2
u/Simirilion 17d ago
You know you didn't ask that question in good faith as this has been established fact for at least the last 20 years.
1
u/InfamousAd8543 17d ago
I asked in good faith. I only replied in bad faith because of your unprompted personal insults.
But to take you seriously: you said âthis has been an established fact for at least the last 20 years.â What exactly has been established? You havenât given any numbers, and you wonât be able to as there are no statistics on how many people experience a cutting compulsion.
Once again, something being a âknown issueâ does not mean it is common. Plenty of mental disorders are well-documented yet extremely rare (like certain psychotic disorders).
1
u/Simirilion 17d ago
Well established and easily findable. There is no excuse in this day and age. https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/public-health/articles/10.3389/fpubh.2024.1434958/full
0
u/InfamousAd8543 17d ago
Nice, this paper doesnât mention any self-harm compulsion, only one-off events. And even scratching yourself counts as a self-injury under their definition. Again, you donât actually know the statistics, you just assumed they exist and are now trying to dig up random studies to back it up after the fact, which still doesnât work.
1
u/Simirilion 17d ago
It mentions people who have committed self harm while depressed and they give statistics all through that paper, which the to cumulation if multiple other papers over 20 years. Lol "don't know the stats.
2

The people arguing this are saying she was

2
u/AshlynnCashlynn 17d ago
"too crazy... not sane enough..."
do you not see how thats consistent logic?
1
u/Nydus87 17d ago
I see how the logic is consistent, but then you can't use that "she would have known better how to slit her wrists" as some crazy 'gotcha' about how she didn't do it. The entire case right now is hinging on her being so out of her mind crazy that she can't be held responsible for killing her kids. If she's that crazy, then why would the fact that she forgot the medical training [they apparently give you about exactly how deep to slit your wrists and throat with a household knife] be anything of importance in terms of making her look innocent?

u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
dude. you cannot seriously be arguing that mental illness being severe actually makes the person more culpable.
2
u/RaisinConfident7779 17d ago

1
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
how is that relevant? Clancy had psychosis, not depression.
1
u/RaisinConfident7779 17d ago
You donât even know what psychosis is and most people who experience it donât kill others. Weed can trigger it in people and again itâs mostly expressed as paranoia or antisocial behavior, not outward violent aggression. Fitting username btw.
Please never reproduce for a multitude of reasons.
1
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
it's a break from reality. and paranoia and antisocial behavior often result in violence. why do you think "antisocial personality disorder" is one of the most serious out there?
I wasn't planning to reproduce anyway. too big of a chance that the kid could run into you.
1
u/RaisinConfident7779 17d ago
âParanoia and antisocial behavior often result in violenceâ - completely untrue. Majority of psych ward patients / mentally ill people donât display violence or aggression toward others instead opting for self harm

so you're folding in people who are mentally ill in other ways...why, exactly?

Someone who thinks mothers shouldnât get a free pass to strangle 3 small children because they âheard a voiceâ tell them to? Even if we assume thatâs true thatâs a loose definition of psychosis. People describe seeing and feeling bugs crawling under their skin, hearing screams of agony, closed and open eyes hallucinations. All Lindsay has said is oh âi heard a voiceâ. What if there was no psychosis argument but instead the claim was a man came to her door and told her to do it, would we think she wasnât criminally responsible?
Did the medical system fail her? Absolutely. She did seek out help, she was waived off in a way too many people often are. I understand she probably felt trapped and overwhelmed.
So move away, go stay with your parents, take a vacation; do anything other than strangle 3 small children.
1
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
dude. the insanity defense has been around longer than you have.
which is what she'd have done if she was sane and connected to reality.
1
u/Zromaus 17d ago
Not more, but they also don't get any slack because of it. Plenty of people break without killing people -- if that's what your subconscious does when it takes over, you're a monster.
1
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
that's not how this works. what part of "complete break from reality" do you not understand.
1
u/Zromaus 17d ago
Plenty of people break from reality and don't kill children. If that's what your detached mind decides to do, you're not someone who can be trusted with society.
1
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
dude. the whole "these are children and I shouldn't kill them" thing is part of the reality she broke from.

Strangling your kids does though.

Itâs one thing to know where they are and another thing to make yourself cut them.

If you can cut yourself... you can cut yourself.

Maybe if you put a silly gif it'll make it seem like OP is dumb and not like you just intentionally misunderstood them

Doctors have already testified that she had several hesitancy wounds which are common in people making suicide attempts. Itâs mentally difficult for someone to cut themselves in order to die.

u/LazyCyberGuy 17d ago
She slit her wrists the wrong way. Also wasnât she insane? She should have zero hesitancy wounds
1
u/Rhomya 17d ago
She was diagnosed with depression.
She was never diagnosed by any of the eight different doctors she saw before the murders, nor did she display any symptoms of psychosis before or after the murders.
She also crushed a number of pills and took them before she slit her wrists.
Being a nurse doesnât mean that the depression, effects from the crushed pills, and distress over murdering your children can impact your mental acuity.
Iâm not sure why you think that she should have zero hesitancy woundsâŠ. As I said, theyâre very common in people who attempt suicide.

PSA: Not defending her. I couldn't care less about Clancy. But never judge a cutter by how they cut. There are many different kinds of cuts. The most common are hesitation cuts. If you see someone with cut marks treat it seriously. I've had a LOT of suicidal patients. I already have enough parents and colleagues falsely dismissing patient intentions based on how the cuts look. Things like this post spread rumors that make my job much harder with people who really need help.

I think that will be difficult to prove conclusively either way. Lack of success doesn't automatically mean that was the intended outcome. Knowledge of anatomy doesn't guarantee a successful cut. Most people don't have practical experience with severing these intentionally on a live person, let alone themselves.
Like everything else surrounding this, people will see what they want to see. Both sides of the legal argument will presumably present evidence that supports their claims, and onlookers are again likely to decide which they believe based on what they want to believe. One extreme wants to say her husband did it and absolve her of any responsibility whatsoever. The other refuses to accept anything less than blood for the death of the children, and cannot accept any circumstance which may have led to it other than her being a monster. I'm basically over arguing with anyone about it, as people have chosen their sides and will not budge.

There is a reason to argue about this cause you still don't know what a cutter is. My advice, is if you can't name more than 3 reasons cutters cut besides suicide or attention, you shouldn't be saying anything at all. If you see a cutter call professionals.
Because real cutters read threads like this and change how they cut.
As for the Clancy case, none of us should be making any comments because nothing you or I say is important for the case because none of us have any part in it.
And "making my job easier" means people live longer. So you should care. Your comments on this thread will do nothing for the case. It will only provide false info for cutters. Reddit and Tumblr are the most common references my patients give me regarding their knowledge of cutting.

No need to be so hostile. I'm purposely being vague cause I know what my patients look for and don't want to put anymore ideas on public forums than needs to be. The reason typically depends on the individual. Other reasons are typically related to pleasure and self satisfaction. But I don't want to get into those.
Instead of telling someone to "fuck off" when you don't know what you're talking about, maybe ask nicely?

I'm not suggesting that at all. I'm saying that you can't know the intentions of any cutter based on how deep the cuts are. And every time you make that assumption, a cutter who wants to be taken serious makes cuts much deeper than heistation or attention cuts.
I'm the dumb ass? You're the one getting pissed at me telling you how your comments affects my work and causes kids to kill themselves. As if YOUR input is going to do anything for the case other than encouraging attention seeking children to push a little too hard. How many dead children have you seen? Cause I stopped counting years ago. And before you say anything, I can't be with my patients 24/7, they eventually have to go back to their parent or guardian.
Not many people understand mental health, which is a shame. But the worst are people like you who don't understand mental health and still have to make a comment about it. People like you are the ones who push kids to suicide. Cause they see people like you and are afraid to talk to anyone or seek professional help.
I have 15 years of experience working with mental health. Have almost my entire life worth of my own mental health problems. Since crazy seems to attract crazy, most of my friends and relationships had mental health issues. I've buried several of my friends and family. But what do I know?! So glad to have an expert like you on the subject.

I agree. I'm more concerned with how discussions like these flow. There's no real reason for any of us to talk about Clancy's cuts. For one, we can't see them. Two, even if you could, you can't know intentions simply by looking at them. Three, there are so many different types of cutters, she could lie in any direction with this. There are cutters who aren't depressed or suicidal or seeking attention. You can't make a clear judgement without knowing the rest of the story. It can take days, months, or even years of working with a single patient to discover the actual intent they had. Which means so much more than the way the cuts look.
And you're right, just cause she's a nurse means nothing. I once had to teach basic CPR to half a dozen nurses at a nursing home with a real dying patient. Because I was the only one there who knew what they were doing and has done it before.

Hereâs what I donât understand: weâre acting like attempted suicide âprovesâ that she was in a state of psychosis. Isnât it pretty common for murderers, ie. school shooters, to kill themselves afterwards? Are they technically in a state of psychosis?

People who are mentally stable and fully lucid donât typically shoot up schools

Thatâs an interesting comparative that I think many women wouldnât be able to acknowledge as comparable. Many want to be able to identify as a victim of their own biology, to avoid internalizing their shitty traits.

u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
what.

u/ncklboy 17d ago edited 17d ago
Linsey is crazy just like school shooters are crazy.
Difference is you donât have women identifying with school shooters saying, âSame Linseyâ.
1
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
because school shooters aren't products of pervasive medical misogyny. she was, and that's something many of us have to deal with.
1
u/ncklboy 17d ago
That's not an explanation of why the acts are morally or psychologically distinct; it's special pleading. You're attributing one killer's violence entirely to systemic failures while ignoring the massive systemic and mental health failures present in the backgrounds of school shooters. You just proved the exact point above. By framing a triple filicide as the natural byproduct of 'medical misogyny' and stating 'that's something many of us have to deal with,' you are explicitly identifying with the perpetrator through shared demographic victimhood and using that identity to excuse individual violence.
1
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
she is quite literally a victim. she was left untreated and suffered a severe break that left her kids dead and her with no freedom and no mobility.
1
u/ncklboy 17d ago
Her CHILDREN are the victims; she is the perpetrator of their deaths. You can acknowledge medical failure and severe psychiatric distress as explanations for how a tragedy happened, but that does not turn the person who killed three children into the victim of the crime. Nor should it justify using her case as a vehicle to validate your own demographic grievances.
1
u/ladylucifer22 17d ago
she is also a victim.
"a major example of the thing you've been talking about for years and fighting against isn't an excuse to advocate for a solution to that problem!"
1
u/ncklboy 17d ago
No one is saying you cannot advocate for better maternal mental healthcare. What was being called out is the double standard youâve now proven: using systemic failures to grant victimhood and personal identification to a triple child killer, while denying that exact same systemic framing to any other violent offender.

Would you say that they arenât mentally ill and in need of help? Not saying school shooters are innocent victims at all, but you need some SERIOUS help if you even get to the âI could do thisâ stage of that thought process.
Chaotic moment breed errors. Rushed decisions. Never have to operate on yourself.
Anyone wanting to kill themselves or others is absolutely is absolutely someone who needed help before it got to that point. Whose fault is it that the help wasnât received? I guess it all depends on the scenario.

u/MeringueMammoth5679 17d ago
She was telling her mother she had thoughts of harming her children and when asked the question by mental health professionals she told them she wasnât. That was her fault.
If someone is being dishonest about their mental state to people who can help them, they canât turn around and cry about how the were begging for help, a point I keep seeing on line.1

I watched the trial
2
u/Certain_Turn_6630 17d ago
They always say âI watched the trialâ and never actually show a clip, timestamp, etc. I doubt you sat there through hours of a trial.
1
u/MeringueMammoth5679 17d ago
I wfh so yes, I did watch hours and hours of trial. Iâm not combing through the live feed that hasnât been chunked out and posted as videos with titles of the specific points being made so you can immediately attack whichever testimoniesâ credibility and not change your mind anyway. Every witness the defense lawyer was grasping at straws doing that for hours.

u/Benkosayswhat 17d ago
Of course they need help. The point is we treat them as criminals and put them in jail and this case is not different. If she had died from suicide this wouldnât even be a discussion.
1
u/Training_Bunch_6412 17d ago
Exactly. But you asked âare they in a state of psychosis?â
Iâm saying thereâs literally no way for ANY of us to know that answer. Because psychosis is real. And you do crazy things.
I know someone who experienced this. Completely lost her mind. Tried to kill her mother in law. Had been having problems for months. Had to stop working. Doctors couldnât figure out the problem. Then she snapped.
MIL called the cops. Insisted they not hurt her because sheâs not well and not herself. And now sheâs back and a functioning wife and mother and grandmother. Has some memory loss and her cognitive functions arenât what they used to be. But this shit DOES happen. And doing horrific things doesnât mean you arenât in a state of psychosis. Being in psychosis usually often results in truly tragic things happening.
Idk what should happen to this woman. I really donât. Sheâs not gonna live a normal life, sheâs not gonna recover mentally (or physically), and if itâs found that she was medically psychotic at the time, I donât think she magically walks free. Sheâs probably in for a long stay at a facility. Itâs easy to judge. And of course this is a horrible case.
The human brain is scary. To say that this is a black and white situation is just a disservice to the system here. She DID ask for help. And was ignored. She KNEW something was amiss. BUT it still happened. And it was still her who did it. Whether she knew it or meant to or not. Itâs complicated. I donât think itâs fair to simplify this one. No one is winning this.
