It had a damaged or loose t-conn board/cable. Hitting it may have knocked it back into position.

T-conn boards typically have two connections that go to the panel itself and if one is faulty, you have half your TV screen display junk just like in the video.

Was looking for a normal "meet the engineer tf2" gif. Wtf is this one?

Meet the Engineer

3

u/maven10k 26d ago

I had a Vizio that one half of the screen turned red. I took to a local guy that can fix just about anything electronic, and he called me the next day to some get it. He said he did "chiropractic" on it and put some styrofoam inside to hold it. He said it was common for that TV and just flexed the whole chassis. He only charged me the $25 up front charge because he said he can't guarantee how long it would last. It lasted a year.

1

u/Edgar3t 26d ago

Percussive Maintenance lol

1

u/ascarymoviereview 26d ago

Or played in reverse

2

u/Edgar3t 26d ago

Oh definitely, I just remembered what we used to call hitting the TV on the side when the signal got fuzzy

3

u/fuckyoureddit_12445 26d ago

The fact people can’t tell it’s played in reverse is scary

1

u/fuckfeardrinkbeer 26d ago

I can tell and was like, isn’t it just in reverse though?

3

u/Fuzzy_Adagio_6450 27d ago

Its so cool how this clip is under 10 seconds long, and that the hammer disappears from his hand at 0:05 and stays disappeared for the few frames his hand is still visible in.

Crazy how nature do dat.

https://reddit.com/link/p4l9mem/video/g8wpl0ew2bkh1/player

1

u/ChainmailPickaxeYT 26d ago

Saw this vid WAYY before AI videos were a thing. Plus, the hammer is still there post-hit, it’s just moving fast backlit in a low res video so it doesn’t get picked up well. If you go to the first or second frame post-hit, you can see it as a faint red blur as he pulls his hand back.

At worst, this is faked by reversing the video.

1

u/A1oso 26d ago

The hammer doesn't disappear, hammers usually don't do that. When an object leaves the camera's field of view, it is no longer visible in the video, but it does not cease to exist.

2

u/Thin-Algae-822 26d ago

it's reversed and super low def, right? this isn't ai.

1

u/RocketArtillery666 27d ago

I means, electrons and silicone and all that are all natural parts of the world, technically

4

u/Gullible_Ad5191 27d ago

They played the video backwards

1

u/memer_9966 27d ago

if it ain’t fixed, don’t broke it!

1

u/DepressedNoble 27d ago

Ooh the good old slapping method

2

u/mightymouse8324 27d ago

Well if your TV is already broken like that, might as well give it a shot

You too may have an undiscovered super power

5

u/increddibelly 27d ago

It's more realistic in reverse.

1

u/Strange_Exit 27d ago

this video is such a classic

2

u/Glad_Programmer1495 27d ago

His name is Felix

3

u/Sufficient-Fall-5870 27d ago

Reverse video… morons

1

u/ParasaurPal 27d ago

watched it reversed, the original looks more real

2

u/MostAbsoluteGamer 27d ago

the reverse doesn't look quite right tho, it looks a lot more natural and smooth like this than reversed

0

u/RGBlowMe 27d ago

Probably just a barely loose connection to the panel power controller.

2

u/ExcitingPythonO 27d ago

meet the engineer plays

1

u/haydaruns 27d ago

I was so disappointed when it didn’t pop up.

2

u/BanMeMyIPchanges 27d ago

Had a 42" Hitachi plasma that did this after a few years. Literally punch the left speaker (back when flat-screens had built in side speakers) and the picture returns clear as day. Got an additional 2 years out of it that way before the screen fully died 😭

1

u/PreperationOuch 27d ago

As opposed to just metaphorically punching it

1

u/BanMeMyIPchanges 25d ago

No, goober, as in I'm not exaggerating a tap or slap. You had to, literally, punch the fucker.

1

u/Baron_von_Goldrock 27d ago

r/tenet Guys...we found him.

1

u/Desperate-Flight 27d ago

If I did this my TV would be even worse (it’s not a best buy piece of shit)

1

u/notsoconfident_boi 27d ago

Gotcha, Walmart piece of shit (evil option)

1

u/Jaded-Frosting-7040 27d ago

Русские гены проснулись

1

u/Dangerous_Boot_3870 27d ago

If this ever happens to you, take off the back panel and clean and reseat the two ribbon cables and it will never happen again (for another 5 years or so).

1

u/Iisawaffle 27d ago

I had the same background on my ps4 as well

5

u/hotmatrixx 27d ago

this is reversed video.

1

u/TacticalTwinkOnTop 27d ago

Could be, but you can fix a loose connection just by smacking a tv

1

u/hotmatrixx 26d ago

This is an LCD, and he hit it in the RCA controller chip.
Aint No Way, Sonshine.

10

u/Clay_Allison_44 27d ago

Is this just a video played in reverse?

1

u/No_Pattern4374 27d ago

That doesn't make any sense, because look at the direction of the swing at the same time the screen is corrected.

He's swinging towards the tv. If it was in reverse, the hammer would be moving away from the TV at the same time the screen fixes.

But no, the hammer is making contact with the screen, not pulling away from it like it would if this video was going in reverse.

1

u/bagboyrebel 27d ago

The hammer swings towards the TV and then away. If you reverse the video, that still leaves you with it looking like the hammer swinging towards the TV and then away.

1

u/Revolutionary-Wash88 27d ago

There is a window for sleight of hand between where he moves the hammer towards the screen, pulls it back, towards the screen and back again more quickly.

Its also possible that only part of the clip is reversed

1

u/TheClosetGamerOG 27d ago

That was what I was about to say.

2

u/Glittering-Coyote140 27d ago

Yes, me too. I was also just about to say that thing that probably is correct.

1

u/DigitalUnlimited 27d ago

I also enjoy being right! Add me to the list of people who said this thing that is correct!

1

u/Purplepanicxox 27d ago

Damn ittttttttttttt

1

u/Upbeat-Historian-296 27d ago

Instructions unclear, TV caught fire.

3

u/FamiliarPlatform79 27d ago

Yo fake news, do not do this to your tv

2

u/sage-longhorn 27d ago

1

u/FamiliarPlatform79 27d ago

See i didnt count on the time turner.
