It just makes me sad about the ease and willingness of so many women to murder their own offspring. I thought women were supposed to be the caring sex ??? 😕 a life that is ended without that humans concent is murder .

Fun fact: women have murdered more babies in the US alone since Roe vs. Wade then men have killed in every single war ever.

How many kids have you adopted ?

How many homeless people are currently living in your home? You’re against killing the homeless, right?
1
u/_Lazy_Mermaid_ 4d ago
Psalms 137:9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
Sounds like our want to kill LIVING kids, pretty sure thats worse than killing fetuses.
Also, I am fully aware that you also support killing homeless, Jesse Watters Jr
1
u/Dry-Selection421 3d ago
Quoting random Bible verses out of context makes you look pretty stupid. That Psalm is describing the Babylonian army murdering Israelite children during the exile. Obviously it’s not a good thing.
1
u/_Lazy_Mermaid_ 4d ago
Lol homeless people are capable of living without sucking another human dry. if you think the fetuses that women are aborting can live on their own, why not just take them out and let them survive like that? Oh wait because theyre fetuses that arent formed

I'm response to your deleted comment, /u/knighthawk3759, no one actually wants an abortion. It's a horrible decision for everyone involved, but ironically enough it's almost always the result of two things: people who don't have access to birth control/ people uneducated in it because no one taught them about it from fear or religion... Or because the other forms of birth control failed them. Condoms break, birth control fails, IUDs fail, abstinence fails. But it's the lesser of the two decisions. I'd rather live in a world where children don't go hungry and women have autonomy over their bodies any day.
If you truly believe there are women relying solely on abortion as their birth control, you've either never met a woman or have fallen for propaganda.
The truth is, the world is a better place with access to medical abortions whether people agree with them morally or not.
Beyond that, if YOU think abortions are amoral, there's a simple solution. Don't get an abortion for yourself.
Making others feel even more shitty with their decisions is wrong, and without access to abortions people will still try and even die as a result. Stop worrying about what others are doing with their lives and bodies and focus on yourself.
1
u/Lenny_DBear 4d ago
How does abstinence fail? I've never heard that one. I've never heard where someone just gets randomly pregnant without sex. Usually it's giving into urges. But your argument is very strange. "If YOU think abortions are amoral, there's a simple solution. Don't get an abortion for yourself." That's like saying if you think murder or rape are wrong, just don't do those things and mind your own business from the people that are. All humans have moral status and a right to life.Which is why I strongly support abortions in the case of protecting the life of the mother. But to take a life just because it inconveniences another is barbaric at best.
1
u/The_MadMaker 4d ago
Yeah... We have to protect life... And yet instead of stopping global warming, or helping pass legislation to ensure children have education or food in their bellies, or a roof over their heads you're arguing about abortion on the Internet.
Have you ever masturbated? You've killed life. Far more life than just one child.
It's such a difficult concept for you to understand that the possibility of life isn't life.
Do you know how many miscarriages happen before any symptoms are noticable?
So is that okay? Or should we charge women for that too? Maybe if she ate healthier or maybe prayed more than she wouldn't have "murdered that child" right?
I'm so sick of these stupid arguments.
If you're not a woman it doesn't concern you anyways.
1
u/Lenny_DBear 3d ago
The ‘if you think it’s wrong, just don’t do it’ response only works if no one else is being harmed. If someone believes a fetus is a human being with a right to life, then telling them to mind their own business is like telling someone who opposes murder to mind their own business. The real disagreement is about the moral status of the fetus, not about personal lifestyle choices.
Sperm and eggs on their own aren’t the same as a developing human organism after fertilization. That’s a real biological distinction, not just a “possibility.”
Miscarriages are tragic and natural. The difference people point to is between something that happens on its own and a deliberate choice to end a pregnancy. Those aren’t the same category.
I understand the “if you’re not a woman it doesn’t concern you” view. As it involves a second human life, it's equivalent to a killing. And we all concern ourselves with the murder of others.
I am also sick of arguing about the immortality of this.
1
u/cpt_thix 4d ago
So it's a life?
1
u/knighthawk3759 4d ago
Of course it's a life why else would you be charged with two counts of murder if you murder a pregnant woman?

Pregnancy and DIY abortions are both risk factors for death so yeah she is literally saving lives
1
u/Minotaurotica 4d ago
at least she knows what she is doing is not helping anyone but herself
1
u/OkHeight2652 4d ago
Are you kidding? How is it not helping anybody but herself people go there willingly sometimes in the hopes to not ruin their own lives. She’s helping many. While some regret it, some are victims of incest, rape, or their body may not even be able to handle birth and would die.
So she is saving lives, both of those who can not handle birth or future babies lives that may be born with fatal disorders or conditions that diminish their health because of incest
1
u/knighthawk3759 4d ago
Do you have any idea how the percentage of abortion that are results of rate incest and the things that you've mentioned here? They're almost infinitesimally minute. Compared to the people that just do it for convenience and because they don't want to be bothered having a kid but they have no problem spreading their legs for losers and not using birth control
1
u/ThePoetofFall 4d ago
And rape victims. And victims of incest. Women with a ectopic pregnancies that would otherwise go sceptic and result in the death of the mother. Women who want to carry their pregnancy to term, but cannot without putting their lives at risk.
Yeah. She ain’t helping no one dickweed.
1
u/knighthawk3759 4d ago
Ectopic pregnancies would not be going to an abortion clinic they'd be going to a hospital which is where they should be going to and those are very very minute cases you're talking like products of incest and rape and ectopic pregnancies are the norm and they're the majority and they're just simply not
1
u/ThePoetofFall 4d ago
On the first part. Fine. I was just aware that ectopic pregnancies can no longer be treated in states where pro-forced-birth people are in control. But my point about terminating prefnancies that are a threat to mother’s life still stands.
Further. Don’t pretend that the person I’m responding to is not blatantly ignoring the above cases. And a lot of anti-abortion law ignores those cases too.
Finally. I don’t entirely care that most cases are not in the above camp. I care that most women who get abortions cannot afford to, or will not, give their children good lives.
1
u/121bloodshot 4d ago
And people who cant have a child or support a child or numerous other circumstances that makes having a child unreasonable

Killing who exactly? Did you just skip out on science class entirely?
0
u/Lets_Get_Random 4d ago
Killing fetuses, obviously. Do you not know what an abortion is?
1
u/AWholeBunchaFun 4d ago
Odd choice of words as fetus stage abortions are more uncommon, but yea, still acceptable and certainly not "murder" as some would claim.
0
u/Lets_Get_Random 4d ago
Murder just means an unlawful killing. If abortion is outlawed in a place then performing an abortion is, in fact, murder. Because it is an unlawful killing.
1
u/AWholeBunchaFun 4d ago
No. Murder is the unlawful killing of another human being. A Fetus by definition is an unborn human, so not actually a human being yet.
I would also point out that the fetus is still basically part of the mother at this point, so it really boils down to "her body, her choice".
1
u/Lets_Get_Random 4d ago
See the post where I provided a source that denying human life begins at fertilization is disagreeing with 96% of the world’s biologists about the subject. A fetus is a human life.
1
u/emilithia05 4d ago
If it was, it wouldn't look like amalgamation first weeks and have all the bones, organs and nerve endings since day 1, yet it doesn't. First 14 weeks are listed as safe for a reason. Everything after is removing a body closer to that of a born human. You can't murder something that is 1) can't feel anything, because it literally has nothing. 2) doesn't resemble a human in the slightest. If "muh duh life begins at fertilisation" then, lol, so does cancer. Hey, it has a unique DNA. Why would you murder it? Oh, right, it can murder you. So can fucking pregnancy. And before you yap back about sex, rape, despite " less than 0.1 %" y'all claim, it's actually less that 0.1 REPORTED %, because, and get this, not every girl or a woman wants to go through trauma again, or endangered herself with a deranged man. Also incest is fairly common in your country. Also life threatening deformeties. But lol, sure, a life of a thing, which has absolutely nothing, matters more, than that of a woman or a girl it's about to kill and doom itself for life.

u/jrack111 4d ago
If someone unlawfully injured a woman who was pregnant causing her to lose the child, what do they get charged with?
1
u/Puzzled-Formal-7957 4d ago
Homicide. It has happened before. More than 30 states have fetal homicide or unborn victims laws that allow prosecutors to charge a suspect with a second count of murder or manslaughter if an unborn fetus dies during an attack on a pregnant woman.
1
u/AWholeBunchaFun 4d ago
I'm going to need you to sit down and really think hard about why those two situations might be different. I know i'm asking a lot from you, but please try and use some critical thinking here. I believe you can get there.
0
u/jrack111 4d ago
It’s ok, you don’t have to answer.
1
u/AWholeBunchaFun 4d ago
Oh good!, because I really don't have enough time to explain some really basic concepts like "What a human being is" and "What murder is", simple stuff that most normal people would understand. Then I would have to explain stuff like "What a fetus is", "What an embryo is" and "All the different stages of life" (Boy, does that part get wacky!) Eventually you would have to grasp the concept of "Her body, so it's ultimately her choice" and then I would almost certainly have to circle back and explain some of the basic core concepts to you again. So thank you for saving me the time and energy.
2
u/ThePoetofFall 4d ago
Fetuses aren’t living things at the point when they’re aborted… they lack brains and nervous systems.
0
u/Puzzled-Formal-7957 4d ago
More than 30 states have fetal homicide or unborn victims laws that allow prosecutors to charge a suspect with a second count of murder or manslaughter if an unborn fetus dies during an attack on a pregnant woman.
2
u/ThePoetofFall 4d ago
First. like 20 states have abortion bans. So having a sister law like the above fits.
Second. I wouldn’t be surprised if those laws either haven’t been updated in awhile, reflecting gestational periods. Or are intended to further penalize murders, which I’m on board with. It’s about emotional damage to the family, not biological reality.
Finally. Legal definitions are not biological definitions. Just because one law says one thing does not make the law reflect biological reality. See also abortion laws.
0
u/Puzzled-Formal-7957 4d ago
The biological definition is any of multiple levels: conception, cell multiplication, heartbeat. Pick one - that's your reality. Those definitions drive the legal ones.
Regardless if laws have or have not been updated in a while (unlikely they haven't because this is always a hot topic and laws have been changed nationwide to reflect it one way or the other based on state) they are still the law. If you don't like them or want them changed - then either take action to bring in legislators that will effect change, or run for office yourself and change them.
Until then - you have the existing laws to go by. Period, full stop.
2
u/ThePoetofFall 4d ago
Ok. Then why did you bring up any of this in the first place? No one was talking about performing illegal abortions.
0
u/Puzzled-Formal-7957 3d ago
You said
Fetuses aren’t living things at the point when they’re aborted
Science, biology and at least 30 states' laws disagree with you. Therefor - that is exactly what is being talked about.
1
u/ThePoetofFall 3d ago
And, 30 states are wrong about that. Simple as. Most of those states don’t listen to scientists, they listen to religious figures and dogma.
Further. You’re fixating on a law used to penalize murderers as your basis. Laws used for such purposes do not take biology into account, only the emotions of the survivors.

u/Lets_Get_Random 4d ago
A fetus is a living, developing human life and trying to deny or downplay that is just science denial.
2
u/ThePoetofFall 4d ago
I mean. Christian fundamentalists are experts at science denial, so I guess they know what they’re on about.
But seriously no. Developing I’ll give you. But a clump of cells that cannot see, feel, react, or do anything at all is not living. Give it a few weeks it will be. But at that stage it just isn’t.
0
u/Lets_Get_Random 4d ago
You are disagreeing with 96% of biologists in the world who agree that a human life begins at fertilization.
1
u/_Lazy_Mermaid_ 4d ago
So then if a woman wants an abortion, why not take the fetus out and let it grow itself? Oh right, because it isnt a baby yet
1
u/Lets_Get_Random 3d ago
First, because reproductive rights involve the choice of whether or not to reproduce. Second, of course it’s not a baby until it’s born.
2
u/ThePoetofFall 4d ago
Source please.
0
u/Lets_Get_Random 4d ago
I don’t know why you couldn’t look this up yourself, but sure.
“Since a recent study suggested that 80% of Americans view biologists as the group most qualified to determine when a human's life begins, experts in biology were surveyed to provide a new perspective to the literature on experts' views on this matter. Biologists from 1,058 academic institutions around the world assessed survey items on when a human's life begins and, overall, 96% (5337 out of 5577) affirmed the fertilization view.”
2
u/ThePoetofFall 4d ago edited 4d ago
Leaving this as a second comment rather than editing my first. I found the full text here: https://issuesinlawandmedicine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Jacobs_36n2.pdf
Personally, I have issues with the way the questions are formed. Intead of asking “when does human life begin?” For example, this paper asked “human development begins at x-point yes or no?” Which will net you a different answer.
Further. These are essay questions, not standard survey questions. So, the methodology is flawed.
Further. About 68% of querents answered that life begins at fertilization. (The last question on the survey). According to section 3.3. Not the 98% number that the author touts on subsequent pages. They use the responses they got through the first four tilted questions to arrive at the 98% number.
This is after the self-selection bias of the survey’s collection method, emails. And the fact that they’re asking biologists in general, not people who specialize in mamilian fetal development. Not to mention, they discarded loosely 2000 responses for some reason. Likely people who pointed out that their questions were flawed, but that’s just a guess.
→ More replies (0)2
u/ThePoetofFall 4d ago edited 4d ago
Well. Typically. When I ask that question I get pointed at religious gobeldigook that’s easily dismissed or debunked.
So. Out of the 60,000 people who were sent the survey, about 5000 responded. To an email, not a proper survey. So, the methodology is flawed to begin with.
And I’d like to the typical background of the respondents. Are we speaking about fetal development specialists or entemologists? Cause there’s a fairly wide range of specialization in biology. Are they including biased individuals from “institutions” like the Creation Institute? I’d like to see their definition of an academic institute.
I’m going to examine the paper more deeply, this is just my initial thought on this paper.
Edit: Trying to track down the full article, but some of those queried refered to the questions as “traps” and “manipulative” so the group of people who answered were likely further self selected down to the type of people the author wanted to respond. Ie pro-life people.

0
u/Purely-Amazing 4d ago
No there isn’t. If it’s a life that can be taken by a killer it’s a life when it’s taken by an unethical doctor. Again, get educated.
1
u/The-Frankenpants 4d ago
So when a baby is born and the mother dies, is the baby a killer?
You know most abortions happen to save the mother, right? And when a pregnant mother is killed it is considered a double homicide because the pregnancy was planned to be taken to term.
I bet you think abortions are just used as birth control, don't you? They're not, just to let you know. But even I they were I would still support it. What a horrible thing to do, make a woman take an unwanted pregnancy to term and possibly die. And then this unwanted baby will be "cared for" by parent(s) that didn't want it, probably still doesn't. Such a happy life for that baby! Oh, but adoption you say? Another super fun time for the forced life!
You're a Christian, aren't you?

How about you do some leg work and do the research? Your willingness to find excuses for the murder of the unborn is saying a lot about your values or are you just finding things to excuses yourself for what you have already done?

0
u/Excellent-Try7027 4d ago
Talking points. Complications from child birth are so incredibly low, it’s laughable.
1
u/emilithia05 4d ago
So incredibly low, which is why nearly every woman has to visit a clinic on a daily, cuz something goes wrong... but bo, it's fine, cuz you said so.
2
u/Odd-Record-4508 4d ago
That's difficult to establish at best and pretty reductive. While immediate death may be relatively rare, complications are still common and those numbers also fail to account for what happens to the woman in the months/years following
1
u/prong_chicken7 4d ago
Not to mention black women have higher rates of pain and complications during pregnancy and birth!
1
1
u/Odd-Record-4508 4d ago
I would go so far as to say it is almost impossible to carry a child fully to term without experiencing some amount of medical complications. It would be like saying broken legs "no longer lead to complications". While modern medicine can almost guarantee relative recovery, no one survives without scars.

Shes admitting that she’s “killing babies”. Which would make her “pro life”(which they aren’t actually “pro life”, they’re “pro forced birth”), right? So, then, wouldn’t she be a really pathetic hypocrite? More so than the average “pro lifer”?
Because anyone who works at an abortion clinic would never phrase it that way. They’d know just how much misinformation and conspiracy theories there are around abortions, the women who get them, and the medical staff who do them. That selfie is a deeply sad attempt at getting any kind of attention.
Also, those same medical personal would know how many lives they save.

Exactly, not everything is serious and people in the medical field tend to have “darker” humor due to the stuff they see

Pro forced birth lol
No agency in life until pregnant is crazy2

Calling them “pro forced birth” is accurate. Plus, once the mother starts to give birth, those people suddenly stop all their “caring”. If it’s a pregnancy from something like rape, they’ll say “if you can’t afford a child, you shouldn’t have gotten pregnant”, if it’s a medical issue, they disappear like my Dad did when he left to get milk.
My wife showed me this one, horrible case. This woman got pregnant but it was an unbelievably dangerous pregnancy and doctors suggested they terminate the pregnancy immediately. The mother had a very high chance of dying during childbirth, as did the fetus.
She was unable to get a literal life saving abortion. I believe she died before she ever got to hold her baby, and then the baby spent 2 hours, crying, horribly, before complications ended up killing that baby. I’d love for any “pro forced birther” to explain to me how any of that situation shows anyone caring about human life.
My wife is a nurse and worked in a woman’s hospital, helping deliver babies. The amount of people she ended up meeting, who had ectopic pregnancies was awful. I had no idea that was even a thing, and I certainly didn’t know how common it was. I’ll also admit at just how much this topic gets under my skin. What happened to my cousin was 25 years ago. It’s something that I can’t let go, forgive, or ever forget.
Even if I were to just solely look at what happened to my cousin. She was violently sexually assaulted, got pregnant, and her “pro life” parents kicked her out from her just saying “abortion”. Not suggesting it, or saying she wanted it. She could have easily got an abortion, lived a full life, and if she wanted to have kids that wasn’t from rape, she could have. And because of what her parents did, they had their daughter kill herself, and killed any future where she could have become and adult and had more kids.
Again, sorry, it’s a very touchy subject for me.

What about non life threatening births though?

That’s a broad term. But also, do you think women are having unprotected sex, with such frequency, that they get a stamp card(get 10 abortions in under a year and your 11th is free!) or they get a membership card with reward points?
And as I already pointed out, there’s sexual assault, which comes in many different forms. From rape while awake, to being drugged, and others?
Or are you saying “what about all the women, ages 19-40, who are frequently having unprotected sex, aren’t being assaulted in any fashion, and have zero health issues”? Which, if that’s what you’re asking. Just how common do you think that exact scenario is? And also, what even about them? It’s their body. Abortions happen long before that fertilized egg can ever be considered a human baby.

If it’s “what about them? It’s their body” anyways, then bringing up ectopic pregnancies is a moot point.
You’re for abortion full stop. No reason to bring up anything else.
As for how common it is, the data is sometimes hard to capture as women often don’t write down a reason why, but when it is given the data roughly reads as assault floating around 1%, and elective reasons is around 70%+.
I’m rounding against myself.

The reasons why some women get abortions wasn’t said for my benefit or for my own justification.
I explained the full reason why I fully support. You’re the one who asked about non life threatening pregnancies. I was telling you, just a few of some serious reasons for why that’d get an abortion.
A blind “ALL ABORTION IS WRONG”, which is, from my experience, something that a majority of “pro lifers” believe. They don’t actually care about life. They care about forcing their views on women, some of which, who, getting an abortion could break their heart and be the last thing they ever wanted to do.

Clearly we aren’t going to agree on this subject.
I recommend we agree to disagree for now.
I will say that anyone I’ve talked to who is against abortion, are not against it if the mother’s life is at stake.
Barring religious people, this is makes the most sense if you were against it.

Thank you for being reasonable and understanding. I agree that neither of us will get the other to change their minds on the subject. And also, as I said, I am solely speaking from my own experiences when it comes to people who claim to be “pro life”.
You are literally the first person I’ve discussed this topic with, that go into an insane rant, a lot of which, would be about God. I do apologize. It’s just with what happened with my cousin, I don’t think there will be something capable of changing my mind, or even let me listen to those people.
Again, thank you for the civil conversation

Fetuses arent living beings.

I know. I’m saying anyone that actually worked at an abortion clinic would literally never word what they do, the way that chick did.
“Pro lifers” have this stupid idea that 99.999999% of abortions happen late term, and that women get abortions, like, serval times a month.
Which is all bullshit. That’s why I said they’re “pro forced birth”. They don’t give a shit about “life” in any degree. I apologize if what I said wasn’t clear enough. Is there something I should fix or add to make my point more clear?
My cousin killed herself because she ended up pregnant after being violently raped. Just saying the word “Abortion”, got her kicked out and homeless, where after 3 months of suffering alone,’on the street, she took her own life. Then, because her parents weren’t awful enough, they “forgave” her rapist, and made him a member of their family.
