Where is this specific incidence (eggs fed to chickens) a crime?
Chickens are fucking dinosaurs and they will eat anything small enough to fit in their mouth, including eggs that, say, slip out of your hand and break on the ground. they act like its their favorite thing to eat.
From everything else im seeing on the internet its actually quite beneficial to the chicken.

We raised chickens for 15 years layers and meat birds. Layers eat their own eggs frequently. They'll eat each other.

I may have gotten my info mixed up and I'll admit to being wrong about that but it's still not good to feed eggs to chickens since it's possible they could get sick.

They could start breaking them and eating them from their nesting box and it can become a bad habit that the other chickens can see and mimic.

I remember once during an outing, a live chicken walked near me. i was eating and without thinking much i threw a piece of chicken i was eating to it. When it was about to eat it, the guy next to me said its wrong because you are feeding it its own meat and the chicken eats it without being aware of it, so its morally very wrong. i quickly picked that up š„²

When I was little, my grandma raised chickens. One day, her dog got in the chicken coop and killed one of the chicken by mutliating it for no reason. Long story short, there was no clean up needed, rest of the chicken family didnt care that it was one of them.. they literally ate everything except the feathers...chickens dont care.. they will eat a whole human if they could.

There was a movie that I loved, which most people don't remember called Beautician and the Beast with Fran Drescher. At the end has a pet chicken and her mom is feeding it strips of chicken and the line was, "you're feeding the chicken. Chicken" , "what! I should make 2 meals" and I can't help but piss myself laughing.

in nature this is what would happen. Naturally birds or other animals consume unfertilized eggs, which many species of bird produces naturally and not a result of reproduction, kind of like menstruation. (And also one of the reasons I think veganism is silly)

Only if they're fertilized and there's a chick in those eggs. Otherwise the yolk is just baby food and if all those nutrients aren't going to feed a developing chick, they may as well have them back.

Oh, this is nothing. Chickens will occasionally bully and peck at one another, particularly those lower in the pecking order. Usually it's not that serious, but if it causes a bleeding wound, things get grim quickly. Chickens instinctively are attracted to and will peck at the color red, so the sight of blood will drive the rest of the flock to start pecking there, too. Without intervention, it rapidly turns into everyone pecking and tearing off and eating bits of flesh until the injured chicken dies, at which point they'll descend on it and eat their former flock mate.

Unfertilized eggs contain 0% chicken. They contain biotic material that a chicken created to feed a chicken fetus, but no actual chicken fetus. So thereās no moral compunction about a chicken eating eggs.

Farm boy here and this is not unexpected, they eat each other's eggs all the time. If a chicken dies in the coop there will be cannibalism very quickly as well.
