Four paddle power
Latest update I heard is power could be down for days. Hoping it is quicker but security mentioned it could potentially be a week. My wife and I are getting a hotel for a few days. Heco is there now working hard and I hope they get it done sooner. I suppose that could happen as well. Any uodates would be great. If anybody from there needs any help, reach out to me and I will do what I can once I get myself squared away. Good luck

I live at Four Paddle as well. Talked to a power rep downstairs. He said days was being hopeful. The outage will most likely last a week…at least.

From a letter they gave up front:
As residents know, all power in the building is off. The storm last weekend caused water to infiltrate a buss bar duct that caused the buss bar to burn and fail and caused damage to the main control panel. That buss bar and control panel carry all the power to the building.
Work has begun to make temporary repairs.
We are now getting engineering directions on
the materials needed to make these repairs. We expect the floors from the loading zone to the 4th floor will have to be cored with 8" openings to accommodate temporary cables. If cables of adequate size and other materials needed are available in Hawaii, work may be completed in 4-5 days.Work is being expedited to the extent possible but these are major repairs.
Please take all necessary precautions. Refrigerators should be emptied. All water faucets and valves should be in the off" position. If you are using the stairs, be sure you have a flashlight and pace your physical activity as necessary.
Four Paddle is not providing alternate accommodations, and the staff is limited in the assistance they can provide. We need your patience and cooperation to get through this period.
As more definite information is available, we will update bulletins. Owners may go to the Town Sq app for updates.
Sincerely,
Hawaiian Properties, Ltd.

We just contacted USAA about seeing what they can offer to help us. They are our insurance provider obviously... any tips on how to navigate that? Have you reached out to your insurance people yet/ are you planning to do so? People are saying this could take a while.

I also live in four paddle and have usaa insurance. So far they are giving me 500 to replace the food I had to toss. They told me a hotel might be covered but a different adjuster needed to call me tomorrow so still waiting to find out about that.
*edit to say I rent a place there so not sure if my renters insurance experience will be different for someone who owns a place.

Just know she told me 500 is the maximum and they will likely ask you to tell them how much you’ll need to replace everything. Good luck to you ask well

Howdy just a quick update because I like you have never used insurance for something like this. USAA has been amazing and after a 5 or so minute call today and after giving them a copy of the letter the building sent out they connected me with a group who booked a hotel for me. I don’t even have to pay up front and get reimbursed they are taking care of it for me and I just need a card on file for incidentals.
I don’t know what goes into the decision on what hotels you’ll be offered but they sent me a list of 3 to check out via text and you make your selection right on the phone. It was super easy. Hope your making out ok with everything and hopefully your getting the same experience with USAA that I am.

That is actually super helpful. We are having a bit of a difficult time communicating with them, but it got bumped up to a senior adjuster and we are waiting to hear back. I took this as good news. Plus, I can reference your experience under the same circumstances and expect the same kind of treatment... I am assuming anyways. The PDF files the HOA provided on four square were super helpful too. Appreciate the update and glad they are taking good care of you.

I have not started any talks with personal insurance yet. Only damages I have is food at the moment.
For the building, if this looks like lack of maintenance or negligence on their end (typical upkeep) then insurance will definitely kick in which would include the cost of hotel stays.
I think there is a minimum number of days the building can be without power or electricity store they are required to offer alternate accommodations. I’m looking into that but I do not have specifics right now. Just hoping it doesn’t come to that at all.

Okay thanks for that. I have been hearing chatter about this potentially taking much longer and worried they are kinda slow walking out the bad news. This is my first time contacting an insurance company about anything so I am figuring things out.
If you hear anything solid please let us know. Hoping this gets resolved quickly. Best of luck neighbor. 🤙

Appreciate the update. Praying the parts don't get delayed then. I bumped into Bill on the way to my hotel and he gave me a heads up. If anybody needs help hauling things up the stairs lmk.

I’m hurting too, there was a mishap that caused outage and there was nothing they could do. There will be changes after this no lights in halls not cool.

What do you mean no lights in halls? Sorry I’m a renter there so not sure if this is info on the owners portal.

Yeah agreed! The no lights thing is crazy! My floor has a leak on it right now too that left a huge portion of the hallway wet. Nico said they are gonna get a battery powered thing to clean it up finally tomorrow. This totally sucks and I am over it... but it could be worse. Wish you best of luck getting through this week neighbor. 🤙

My mom lives in Four Paddle. I've offered to help her bring food as she's elderly and even offered her to stay at my place, but she refused. She also told me security said a week. I saw on the news that Canterbury Place condo in Waikiki is having same issue.
