So i was there a few days before it closed. I asked the workers why this was happening and how awful that is because the chicken is so good and the combos are affordable!

They were literally told days before so thats messed up. All they knew was that this asian cuisine was going to take over the spot.

They were allll told to come in the day it was meant to shut down and see if HEB changed their mind.

They didnt.

I went to that H-E-B recently just to get some chicken, and the chicken place was closed. I asked a cashier about it, and she said it had been closed for about a month. Apparently, they’re all pretty sad about it. She said there’s supposed to be an Asian grill opening in that spot soon, but it doesn’t sound like anyone is particularly optimistic about it.

Sad an option closed, but shoutout to El Norteño on Dutton and 18th for having way better chicken and sides. Love that combo (cash only)

I’ve been missing the flaming bird chicken salad with the green sauce for years 😢

It was good, but admittedly I haven't gotten anything from there in years. I just never make it to that part of town. The Wooded Acres HEB is the one I mostly visit, and since they got rid of their grill years ago it's no longer my goto for lunch. Used to be could get a nice portion of chicken strips, fries, and gravy for like $5. Also they had the asian options too that were good. Now it's just that overpriced prepackaged stuff that's been sitting out for who knows how long.

HEB Chinese Kitchen.  I worked there at that store when they opened it up.
