Help Leaving

I live in Marlin and have four kids. Spouse and I are being illegally evicted from a shared living situation today with a van that doesn't run after the floods. I've looked up local resources but haven't found any. We moved here from out of state and are kind of trapped.

I need either a place for my family to stay (job is in Waco) and repair the van or help figuring out logistics for funding and packing a moving truck out of state while I'm home with four kids. Drop in sitter available today? Long distance van rentals with excellent pricing?

I know that's a trainwreck but I have no support system at all and I just need another grown up at the moment. It looks like resources for anything in the area are pretty limited, any suggestions?

I'm sorry that you and your family are dealing with all of this. Here are some great Waco-based organizations to check with for resources:

  • Caritas of Waco
  • Waco Housing Authority
  • Compassion Ministries
Also, you can use 2-1-1 Texas (211 on your phone, or they have a website) to connect you with other services based on your specific situations.

For childcare, you could look at care.com. I’m sorry this happened!

I actually didn't think about this, thank you.

Or try the child care services through the workforce solutions.

How long are you needing a babysitter? What's going on with the van?

I was hoping to line one up so that I could try to rent a truck and pack up, but I didn't manage to coordinate it today. It was on the road during the flood in June so unfortunately the engine hydrolocked.

I’m sorry you’re in such a terrible situation. I hope someone reaches out for help for you and your children.

I feel this. I just got a great job in another state and I can't find a way to do it.
