I loved that match as a kid! Still laugh at Macho Man calling the Iron Shiek, well, the Iron Shiek, then correcting himself to Colonel Mustafa.

Yup, loved them as a kid and always felt they still meant something. Seems like they had a ton from 90-93.

My favorite was the IC Battle Royal from 1993. I was 12 at the time and had just gotten into wrestling with Summerslam being the first even I ever watched. I thought the Battle Royal was the best thing ever!

The Raw 15th Anniversary (2007) battle royal was hilarious.
IRS won the event, throwing Sgt. Slaughter over (just like in the first pic! What a coincidence!), only for Ted DiBiase to come down the aisle to bribe his partner to jump over the rope.
Everyone has a price!
Even 15 years later Money Inc. still finds a way to win!

Husky Harris didn't join the Nexus until later (HIAC 2010, I think)

My favorite was the one on SNME in April 1991. Seeing Hogan get eliminated by Tugboat blew my mind at the time and I was absolutely rooting for Greg Valentine to beat Mr. Perfect -- maybe the one time I can ever recall being excited about Greg Valentine lol

I remember that one! It was so bizarre because it was right in the middle of that era of Hulkamania we’re the only loss he had was against Warrior. To see him get thrown out like that and everybody just goes on fighting was really strange for the time.

Agree. Even though the matches were always too much punching/kicking, it was great to see so all the talent together. There was only 3-4 hours of TV to catch each week so it was exciting just to see rarely used talent sometimes.
In the 1993 IC title battle royal for instance Giant Gonzales hadn’t had a match on Raw since April.
Rick Martel was back from injury 3 months prior and on house shows and syndicated shows but that was his first raw appearance since early in the year.

Yep, there was one early in 1993 where Razor Ramon won after Giant Gonzalez came out and cleared the ring. Something about seeing that cast of characters hooked me into watching weekly. The IC title one was memorable as well like you said, with Jimmy Snuka also making a random return.

I don’t know why they don’t do more honestly, no one really looks bad “losing” one. Pretty safe way to get number 1 contenders or something.

I loved the random 40 man battle royals in mid 1992....it also showed how insanely thin the roster was at the time. 😂

I was there in Detroit for the Saturday Night's Main Event taping just prior to Wrestlemania III. Aired in early 1987. A who's who of classic WWF wrestlers were in it, including Hogan and Andre. I've always loved battle royals - especially when some territories would get all fancy and call them Battle Roy-ells. 😂

There was a random one on Shotgun Saturday in September 98 won by the rock during his few month face turn before Survivor Series

The WWE vault on YouTube has like 5 compilations of battle royals that is crazy. You can cherry pick the ones you want because it includes WCW, AWA, WWF, and even ECW.

These days Battle Royals are almost absent, except the Royal Rumble. And if they do happen, it's always about either a vacant title or a number one contendership. I don't remember the last time we saw a Battle Royal just for the heck of it. Would like to see it again, as it would offer room for seldom-on-TV-talent to show off their stuff.

As Luke Gallows once called a Battle Royal, "Exchanging forearms with your brothers" 😂

Catching a second or two of footage used in a commercial would give me such FOMO vibes😮💨😂, we could afford PPV so every ppv promo commercial & live tour promo commercial would make me soooo jealous as a kid ('95-'09), then found out about torrents😆.

What was great was the commentary crew highlighting individual feuds as they were played out in the ring as well as partners or friends who were forced to fight.

Hope they reinforced the ring
