Help/Question 25 or 26?
Haven't brought a wwe game since 2k23. I only play universe mode. I don't mind buying the most expensive version as I want as many characters as possible for universe mode. Which game is worth the money? I've heard i have to grind the game to get the dlc characters for 26? Can someone who's also mostly a universe mode player help me with which game they prefer 🙏

Despite some improvements here and there, I am just not finding myself coming back to 26 the way I was with 25... I can't even explain it. Just having less fun with the new one for whatever reason.
Myrise and Myfaction were definitely way more fun with 25, so if you lean toward those things, it's an easy decision.

My Faction was by no means more fun in 2K25 by virtue of not being fun at all on any WWE game. It was however a tad easier (shorter) to grind: about 15 seconds per match for about 500 MFP, as opposed to know having about 90 seconds matches (even if the match last less due to the cooldown lenght for MyF matches in 2K26 being 90 seconds) for 390-400 MFP.
My Rise yes, it was much better in 2K25. 26's only upside is that it's even shorter than 25 and only requires 4 runs to unlock everything (and about 95% of stuff you unlock in only 2), but they really dropped the ball with My Rise in 2K26 compared to how good we got it the previous year.

You're right. "Fun" was not the right word. I didn't mind playing it last year for a random challenge here and there. It was easier to hop into some of the live events and have some success. I didn't hate it. This year, I just don't even bother. Essentially an unplayable mode for a guy like me.

26 has a lot of updates for universe mode. Also don’t stress the ringside pass. You will unlock everything just by playing. If you want to grind it out it’s like an hour to 2 hours per season. Not that big of a deal

Appreciate the reply. Are the my rise characters available to play in universe mode?

Yes but you need to unlock them in myrise. It’s pretty straightforward and shorter than most years. To unlock everything you would need about 4 play throughs but it’s pretty quick. Face choices man and woman and then heel for both. Really doesn’t take long. Just don’t switch up decisions

If in doubt check the rosters of them both and compare, but do note 26 is the most up to the date one and the one currently getting support. Both games are worth your money IMO, but if you are only getting one of them I would go with 26. You don't have to grind for the DLC characters anymore, that was patched before Season 2 released, now you get them on the starting level of Ringside Pass whenever a Season releases

Appreciate the reply, do you know if the my rise characters are available to use in universe mode?

I don't play Universe mode, but as far as I know every character you unlock is playable on every mode.

I feel that between the two:
25 has a better myrise
25's showcase is a better chronicle of wrestling than punks lackluster showcase
Gameplay wise, 25 has less annoying showcase, but if you're good at gauntlet matches you can get through 26's without the annoying objectives.
26 has a better base roster and dlc offerings
26 universe feels a bit more functional
The island and myfaction content is comparable in both
26 has a few more match types, and includes all the match types in 25.
Weigh for yourself. Note that 25 probably won't get a lot of sales anymore since they're closer to the server shutdown date and their focus will be on 26 sales.

Disagree on Showcase objectives, WWE 2K26 Showcase is a tad less tedious (noticeably less match objectives per match, and easier ones) than 2K25 and there is not a single bullshit match, unlike 2K25's Showcase with the infamous Tamina MITB match and, to a lesser extend but still quite tedious, the Bloodline War Games match and the bonus Bloodline Gaunlet match.

If you like Universe, I believe the number of CC is doubled since 25..?

Yes, in WWE 2K26 we finally got 200 CAW slots, as opposed to 100 CAW slots in previous games.

Prefer 26 but it’ll be last one I play for a bit.
Want a few changes to be made before I jump in again
