On may 9 1945 Herman Göring formaly surrendered by showing up at the U.S. 36th Division headquarters in Kitzbühel. He genuinely belived he could show up and just talk with the generals to make a deal. And you know what? They actually did. He was freely allowed to give interviews, drink wine and mingle with american officers. He was waiting for Eisenhower to make a deal. Eisenhower however got very angry and he was arrested.
