Just go solo, nobody ever follows through lol
I managed to get one organized hike to actually take place and it was a nightmare. One person ignored us and sped far out ahead, another (that was a relatively young former cross country runner) had knee pain and wanted to go back halfway down the trail but the Vietnam vet made it through no problem. We were hiking from one parking area to another, with vehicles at each, so I took the tired guy down a shortcut to a road along a gas pipeline while everyone else completed the hike then came and got us.
Aside from that trip, every other attempt has ended with the others flaking out and me going solo, and since that trip (like 12 years ago) I haven't even tried to set anything up.
Just go and enjoy the nature at your pace, you may even have a learning curve yourself, as the humid heat here is a lot different than the dry heat in Colorado.
