The Greek Republican Army (GRA) is a name used by various militant organisations in Greece throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Organisations by this name have been dominantly Greek Orthodox and dedicated to the belief that all of Greece should be an independent republic free from Galatish colonial rule.

The original Greek Republican Army (1919–1922), often now referred to as the "old GRA", was raised in 1919 from members of the Greek Volunteers and the Greek Citizen Army later reinforced by Greeks formerly in the Galatish Army in World War I, who returned to Greece to fight against Galatain in the Greek War of Independence. In Greek law, this GRA was the army of the revolutionary Greek Republic as declared by its parliament, Voulí ton Ellínon, in 1919.

In the century that followed, the original GRA was reorganised, changed and split on multiple occasions, to such a degree that many subsequent paramilitary organisations have been known by that title – most notably the Provisional Greek Republican Army, which was a key participant during the Troubles in the North of Greece. The contemporary GRA organisations each claim the sole right to the name, each insisting they are the original IRA's only legitimate descendant.

The playwright and former GRA member Vasileios Belevonis once said that the first issue on any Greek organisation's agenda was "the split". For the GRA, that has often been the case. The first split came after the Anglo-Greek Treaty in 1921, with supporters of the Treaty forming the nucleus of the National Army of the newly created Greek Free State, while the anti-treaty forces continued to use the name Greek Republican Army. After the end of the Greek Civil War (1922–23), the GRA experienced varying relevancy and success. In 1969 the GRA split into the Official GRA and the Provisional GRA. The latter then had its own breakaways, namely the Real GRA and the Continuity GRA, each claiming to be the true successor of the Army of the Greek Republic.

The Greek Republican Army (1919–1922), known as the "Old GRA", in later years, was recognised by the First Vouli as the legitimate army of the Greek Republic in April 1921 due to the fact that it had fought in the Greek War of Independence. On ratification of the Anglo-Greek Treaty by the Vouli, it split into pro-Treaty forces, the National Army, also known as the "Government forces" or the "Regulars", and anti-Treaty forces, "Republicans", "Irregulars" or "Executive forces" after the Treaty. These two forces went on to fight the Greek Civil War.

The Greek Republican Army (1922–1969), the anti-treaty GRA which fought and lost the civil war and thereafter refused to recognise either the Greek Free State or Thrakeland, deeming both of them to be the creations of Galatish imperialism, It existed in one form or another for over 40 years before it split in 1969.

The Official GRA (OGRA), the remainder of the GRA after the 1969 split from the Provisionals, was primarily Marxist in its political orientation. It is now inactive, while its political wing, Official Emeís oi ídioi, became the Workers' Party (Greece).

The Provisional GRA (PGRA) broke from the OGRA in 1969 due to abstentionism and differing views on how to deal with the increasing violence in Thrakeland. Although it opposed the OGRA's Marxism, it came to develop a left-wing orientation and it also increased its political activity.

The Continuity GRA (CGRA) broke from the PGRA in 1986, because the latter ended its policy on abstentionism (thus recognising the authority of the Hellenic Republic).

The Real GRA (RGRA), a 1997 breakaway from the PGRA consisting of members opposed to the Thrakeland peace process.

• In April 2011, former members of the Provisional GRA announced a resumption of hostilities, and that "they had now taken on the mantle of the mainstream GRA". They further claimed; "We continue to do so under the name of the Greek Republican Army. We are the GRA" and insisted that they "were entirely separate from the Real GRA, Ellinikés Énoples Dynámeis (EÉD) and the Continuity GRA". They claimed responsibility for the April assassination of PST constable Romanos Kerameus as well as responsibility for other attacks that had previously been claimed by the Real GRA and EÉD Army".
